Had a very sad, tasteless latte here. Tried their seasonal flavor but they tasted like milk with a hint of coffee. I haven't come here in few years and remember their coffee being so much better.

Iced Honey Joy

Stopped by this spot for an iced honey joy and I enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day and I got another one. One of the best earl grey lattes I have ever had. Service is quick and efficient. Staff is super friendly.

The decor is beautiful just to start off- such a cool vibe! While I waited for the bf to get his hair cut it was so convenient to walk over and grab a Mexican Mocha with Oat milk! So good he finished it before I could take more than 3 sips! They were super quick getting me my coffee as well!

Very nice staff! We sat inside and enjoyed a couple of lattes- they have a pretty large menu for food and coffee drinks. They have a few tables and lots of couches but I can see it filling up pretty quick. Will be back next time we are in b-ham

Chicken Caesar Wrap

My favorite spot in Birmingham to grab coffee, and a quick bite to eat. Service is great, and fast. I always get a hot cup of Almond Joy. I've tried a few of their other drinks, but this one is my favorite. They have really great seasonal drinks too, especially in the fall. Highly recommend!

Baked goods

Food- hot cafe latte lacks the espresso taste but the overnight oats were flavorful. The oats had a dollop of peanut butter that did not overpower the oats. Service- fair Ambiance- city vibes I didn't care for the coffee and probably wouldn't return.

Golden joy frappe, carrots cake muffin & kuppa joy frappe.

Good selection was great. Helpful suggestions. Enjoyed the outside seating. Carrot cake muffin was served warm. Portions could be shared or not.

A really good experience! First: the price, so much cheaper than the other places I've been around here! We got two drinks for about $11. We got an Iced Latte with Lavender syrup and an Almond Joy. The interior looked like a cozy and quiet place to get work done. The service was very quick, it took just a few minutes for the drinks to come out. The atmosphere was cute and well decorated, and the employees were great! The only downside was finding parking, I'd say to look for parking nearby in advance. Overall, I would recommend!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for the first time. The place was pretty busy but the line moved quickly. We got the cold almond joy and hot Mexican mocha. Both were great! The almond flavor subtle and creamy. The Mexican mocha was a surprisingly good amount of spice. Would be perfect for an autumn day. Service was quick and friendly. There are several tables where people worked on laptops and an area with couches. Personally it would be too loud for me to do work here but if you have noise cancelling headphones, I'm sure it would be fine. There is also outdoor seating, great for enjoying an avocado toast on an sunny day. There is also plenty of parking across the street in the parking structure which is free on weekends while construction is going on. I noticed there weren't any updates menu pics so I took some.

Venue on corner

Cute venue on corner street downtown. Parking is available across the street (free if you return in less than 2 hours), but plan for a few extra minutes if you are ordering to go. I ordered 4 drinks to go using the Yelp mobile app (GrubHub service). It wasn't super busy on a Sat morning at 8:30 so there was enough seating available if I wanted to stay. The seating space is on the smaller side so I could see it getting jammed quickly during a busy time. Ordered 2 lattes, one skinny and one with almond milk substituted and lavender syrupy, 1 coffee (black), and an ice chia latte. All the drinks were delicious. Would be a great place to stop if you are already downtown walking or shopping near by and will definitely return when we are back in the area.

Cafe Miel Latte - great Christmas decorations & aesthetics!
Ailun H.

This location is flavored lattes galore, so if you love sweet drinks, this is probably the place for you to take your aesthetic coffee photos to show off on your Instagram stories. It was a great place for me to catch up with friends and a nice location to study for AP exams and finals or whatever back in the day. They also close later than other local coffee shops! The first time I tried BR was back in 2014 when I was into sweet coffee drinks. I loved the "Kuppa Joy" since it has a unique profile - it's sweet in a warm and homey way, infused with flavors of creme brûlée. I'd say this is the signature of their "Signature Brews". They also have really cute latte art here if you're sitting in - my first latte here had a bear latte art. I was so impressed. However, in the past couple years, I've become more of a black coffee snob, so lattes are a once-in-awhile treat yourself kind of purchase now. Sadly, my sweet tooth also fell out. I got the "Kuppa Joy" earlier this year and thought it was much too sweet. It was still the unique flavor I remembered! I would recommend half sweet/reduced sweet if you don't have a very sweet tooth. I went again today because I was craving a latte and the barista recommend the "Cafe Miel", which is a honey & cinnamon latte. He was super friendly and helpful and said this latte was the last sweet out of them all. I got the 12 oz. for $4.80 (16 oz. is only 20 cents more, btw!!). Oat milk was an additional 75 cents up charge, so about $6 after tax. Pretty expensive, but I guess that's Downtown Birmingham for ya. The first sip filled my mouth with warmth. The honey is the most distinct taste in my opinion, followed by a mellow amount of cinnamon, then oat milk. Overall, it's a good blend of flavors, but I'd prefer a stronger cinnamon taste. Oat milk was a good choice (over regular milk, in my opinion) because it contributed to the aftertaste of the drink - subtly sweet with warmth. Espresso? Don't know her. Sadly, I couldn't really pick out the espresso flavor in this drink, which is what I was really looking for. I'd say this was a solid sweet oat milk drink, but not a very good latte. BR is a popular location for people in the area - great vibes, friendly baristas, and yummy sweet drinks. Not sure if this is the place for coffee snobs, but I'll try a black coffee option next time!

Breakfast Burrito Almond Joy Frappe
Annie A.

If you aren't already downtown, parking can be a little time consuming. There is a parking garage (first two hours free) right next door but not great if you're trying to get in and out quickly. The cafe is beautifully designed and there are several seats where people appeared to be working. Service took about 10 minutes; I ordered a breakfast burrito and an almond joy frappe. The frappe was very decadent and strong with notes of dark chocolate, coconut, almond and espresso. The burrito had hash browns, spinach, eggs, bacon, cheese and sour cream. It was good but maybe a little heavy on the hash browns & I wish it had more cheese in it. I thought the burrito was a little expensive for what I got as well (13$).

Small black coffee at Birmingham Roast
Mark L.

Stopped in for a morning coffee. I had a small black coffee and a blueberry muffin. I appreciate the small touches. Custom coffee cup with the name of the coffee shop and pithy saying on the other side. Blueberry Muffin The blueberry muffin had a nice twist. I thought it was undercooked, but it was not cakey, more like it had sour cream added. And, there was something on the top, brown sugar, cinamon ? Surprisingly good. It makes me want to try their other food offerings. They had various other artisany looking items. Seating Good seating was available. A good cafe to answer emails, or get some work in. They had nice tables with power in the middle for working. A small seating area for chatting with friends, or reading a book. And, counter seating near the window. Plenty of outdoor seating. Service was friendly and fast.

I ordered the "Double Trouble" -- French toast loaded with cookie dough, Oreos, Nutella, and chocolate sauce. Let me just say... that dish is a train straight to diabetes. In all seriousness, it was absolutely delicious and indulgent, but definitely on the overly sweet side. If you have a serious sweet tooth, this one's for you. My wife went with the Classic Eggs Benedict, and that was excellent -- well-balanced flavors and cooked just right. The breakfast potatoes, however, were a bit bland. They were cooked well texture-wise but could definitely use more seasoning. Service was so-so, though it seemed like they were pretty busy, which likely played a role. The location is great -- conveniently about a mile from Woodside Church, one of the largest churches in Michigan -- so I can imagine it gets especially packed on weekends. One important note: restroom maintenance needs attention. With only a single restroom per gender, cleanliness is critical. My wife noticed the toilet seat wasn't clean, which is something that should be addressed promptly, especially in a high-traffic establishment. Overall, the food quality was strong, particularly the main dishes, and we'd likely return -- but there are definitely a few operational details that could elevate the experience.

One of our kids ordered french toast, and somehow we missed that it was topped with a fruit compote. When Mya stopped by the table she immediately saw that my daughter was not happy and asked if she should put a new order in. We declined because we wanted our daughter to try it before she made up her mind, and learn from the experience. Mya came back again and could tell that there was no way this kid was going to eat the french toast. She insisted on putting another order in, saying "I just want her to be happy", and it was clear that she truly meant it. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast - we will be back frequently!

I was a little disappointed initially to be seated at the short bar as it makes me feel like I'm in elementary school due to the height, but this was a busy Saturday morning so I understood as it seems there are limited 2-tops, etc and this visit was at peak hours. It was nice to see the daylight coming through the windows which also made this a relaxing venue. While I was sitting there I was able to observe a lot as the short bar is next to the case displaying many delicious treats. I really laughed to myself as I noticed a couple of future Yelper's (one was 2-year toddler and his probably 4-5 year old sister (possibly celebrating a birthday) make a prompt trip to checkout the dessert offerings first! They were obviously "regulars". I was greeted by one of the wait staff, Mya, who was friendly, served me a coffee and indicated my server would be with me soon. I appreciated seeing the teamwork among the staff. I was eventually served by Owen who was helpful and I ordered an egg white frittata which came with a side of mixed fresh fruit. While I was waiting on my food, I had a vantage point where I could see several entrees come out. I also witnessed one of the two Chefs smiling as he was looking at and preparing the orders which I found interesting. The frittata included spinach, tomatoes, goat cheese, apple chicken sausage, and was delicious. I was still a little hungry, so I realized the future Yelpers mentioned earlier had it right, and I ordered a carrot cake cupcake which Owen mentioned was a good choice. The frosting was delicious and the moist carrot cake was tasty as well. The overall restaurant was hustling and bustling on this morning, I had my coffee cup refilled multiple times and even noticed additional children observing the case with the desserts. I enjoyed the overall experience and did not feel rushed at all, but more like a customer!

There is absolutely nothing bad on the menu. There are so many delicious items, I have a hard time picking what I want since I want everything. First, I love their coffee. We came for lunch and I had already had my morning coffee, but we had not been here in so long, I needed my Original coffee fix and ended up having three more cups. Their coffee taste great all ways, black, with cream, with cream and sugar, so good! My child had a strawberry lemonade. They limit you to only one refill, but they were very kind and asked her if she was ready for her second cup. We love their specialties, which they do warn you takes extra long to bake, about twenty minutes, but it is always worth it. I ended up getting the baby Dutch garden, which is baked. It is so good, so underrated, I love this one every time. It is like an omelette inside a German pancake. It is perfection. I always also need something sweet, so I got a half order of blueberry pancakes. The batter is so good and they give you a side of blueberries in syrup. My child got the baked apple. This is the most iconic treat and a must order if you have never been here before. Again, it is baked sugar, apples and cinnamon inside a German pancake. We both had leftovers. So, each of our meals was like two meals. My husband got the broccoli and cheese omelette and a side of chocolate chip pancakes. They have hands down the best chocolate chip pancakes in the area and their omelettes are so fluffy and delicious. Personally, when I get their omelette, I get the spinach and cheddar which is amazing. Other items I love include the 49ers. Those are the best pancakes, they are a hybrid crepe and American pancake, and if you have never had one, you need to try them, they are ginormous. Their buckwheat pancakes are also so good. Their orange juice is typically fresh squeezed and worth ordering, and there are so many other items I have never tried because I do not have enough room in my stomach. This is a must try for everyone. There is usually a long line, but it tends to go quickly. Service is always friendly.
