For Birmingham we definitely expected a lot. We had an 830 reservation and when we arrived at 8:26 our table was not ready so they sat us at the bar for a drink. It took us 15 minutes to get a drink and once we were served, our table was ready. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Someone walked us to our table and we were greeted very quickly. Our servers name was Justice and he was fantastic the entire night. The vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant is definitely hip and the place to be. I did not use the bathroom but my fiancé did and he said it was a single stall and there were paper towels and puddles of water everywhere. Having worked in the restaurant industry for seven years generally it's the hostesses job to maintain the bathrooms but it doesn't look like anyone had checked in a while. Now getting to the food... my fiancé and I split appetizers for our dinner. We started with the chicken wings which we could tell were frozen and not fresh. The fried batter was slightly soggy and they were heavily sauced. We also ordered the buffalo cauliflower which was much fresher, they used a light batter, and it was lightly sauced. Next we ordered the escargot which was phenomenal and our first time ordering it at a restaurant. They were cooked well and the sauce was great. Next we ordered a side of brussels sprouts because I absolutely love that side dish, they were cooked with pancetta, onions, and a balsamic glaze. They were not over cooked and had a great crunch to them however I think they could've came out more crispy. Lastly we split the black bean and walnut meat tacos. I really enjoyed the vegan spin on the tacos however they seem to have too much black bean and walnut purée. I would've also like to have seen another taco option available, maybe a blackened catfish taco. For dessert we had the kit Kat bar and knowing what a Kit Kat tastes like, I was definitely expecting a thicker wafer in the desert, which was not there. It definitely tasted good but it was more like a chocolate ganache type cake. At the end of every dinner at a new restaurant, my fiancé and I ask each other, would you come back? And given the options that Birmingham has, we would probably choose some thing else over the Birmingham pub. read more

Not what comes to my mind when someone says "hey let's go down to the pub for a few drinks". I was pleasantly surprised by the eclectic decor and atmosphere. Super cute restaurant in the downtown Birmingham area! The decor in the restaurant is really nice and they really make the most of the small space. I recently had my husbands 30th surprise birthday party here the day before thanksgiving.. best decision Ever. The owner was so easy to work with and very accommodating. I had a buffet style type because I rented the room upstairs for a private party, and the food was amazing. The room was set up exactly how I wanted it. The best part about the experience was the staff & bartenders. Seriously they kept checking up on us and asking if we needed anything..I just want to say thank you thank you thank you for everything! Food is not as good as it was when it was Triple Nickel. Subpar, diner quality food, in fact I've had better diner food from Bob Evans. Staff is nice and courteous though. The cook is just lazy. We visited for first time this weekend and sat at the bar. The bartenders are very dirty here. We notice she was putting ice cubes in drinks with her bare hands, and not once did I ever see any of the bartenders wash their hands not once! Even after touching other people's dirty glasses and dishes they did not wash their hands. And you can see their servers doing the same thing when they put lemons on drinks with their hands. Also they served me expired beer as you can see in our photo. Its November, beer expired in June! We decided not to order any food because it was not worth getting sick. Absolutely disgusting. I think this place is trying too hard. I'm also not even sure what they are trying so hard to be. Took a while to get drinks because they weren't familiar with the cocktail and wine that was ordered although it was on the menu. Wine options were not impressive, and they were out of the only wine that was interesting. Calamari was rubbery and bland. Shrimp cocktail comes in a shot glass soaking in cocktail sauce. Our server was bothersome. I'm not sure if we were their last table and they were trying to rush us along or if they truly just could not read that we were having a casual evening. Nothing on the menu was impressive. I want to say I would maybe come back for a drink but I probably won't. read more

I've been wanting to try Birmingham pub for a long time now and tonight I finally did. Dustin was my server and was absolutely delightful. If you know you're going to have time make sure you request him, the service was excellent. I tried that as cargo and I give it a 10 out of 10. Went there with the kids. Met at the door by a hostess that looked like coming into the restaurant was such a chore for her. Was seated by said unbothered hostess. Waited for 15 minutes with absolutely no one greeting us or even filling waters. Finally got up and started to walk to the door when the manager saw us leaving and asked why. We said we were treated poorly by the hostess and that no one had swung by our table to greet us. Instead of inviting us back and saying he would make it right, he just shrugged, apologized and said sorry. It's a bummer because we had been there once prior (after it became BP) and had great food and great service. Won't put this back in the rotation for business meetings or family outings. I went there for lunch today. The lunch menu was sparse and overpriced . I had the burger and the pub salad. The salad was good but hamburger was nothing special. I think they have an identity crisis. The word "pub" in the name gives me a feeling of coziness and affordability. Nothing too cozy about this place- actually looks pretty much the same as when it was Triple Nickel. Far from affordable. Menu seems like many other Vicari restaurants. $40+ steaks and seafood. $16 to embellish your salad with chicken???? I was hoping for a replacement of Peabodys.....comfort food, good drink for the money, friendly staff. Guess Birmingham still has to wait for that one :(( read more

I went to this restaurant and I bit into the olive that came in my drink and there was MOLD inside of BOTH olives. The manager didn't even offer to cover our bill and was extremely rude when we confronted him about the mold in the olives. This place is filthy and the service is horrible. Just back from "eating" dinner at the pub. We were looking forward to eating there especially since the ownership group had recently won an award. Atmosphere and service were very nice. But the food was not up to par. My wife is a long term vegetarian and so had a Beyond burger which was undercooked and bland plus stringy. The cheese was cheap American that stuck to her teeth. The tomato was too crispy. I had beef stroganoff that was different from any I had ever had. The sauce was beef broth based, not creamy. The beef chunks were all tough and hard to chew. The pasta was undercooked long roll up's. Even the carrots were undercooked. For a dish costing $39 it was disappointing compared to my experience at two of their other restaurants. We did complain, showed the maitre-d, and had him take it back to show the chef. He apologized and made the meals complimentary. First time I have ever sent a meal back to chef. read more
