My son attempted to buy a used car from Bird Kultgen Ford this week. Our family has used Central National Bank for years--they're a great bank! We've bought so many vehicles from BK over the years that I've lost count, and they service all of our vehicles as well. The BK Ford sales manager insisted that my son finance the car through BK's bank. He would not allow him to use our bank. I was very disappointed with my experience here, especially given all the glowing reviews this dealership has. I had a confirmed appointment to see a specific truck yesterday and informed the rep I'd be driving an hour and a half to get there, ready to buy. When I arrived, I was told the truck had already been sold earlier in the day and that the person I had the appointment with left for the day. No one bothered to call, email or even send a text ahead of time, which wasted a 3 hour round trip. Vehicles sell quickly, but the lack of basic communication and respect for a customer's time was unacceptable. I won't be returning. read more

We had a great experience with Clarke, who was our sales associate. We bought a pre-owned Ford Explorer recently that that had just come to their lot a day or 2 before test driving it. It still needed to be looked over, inspected, detailed, manufacturer recall performed, etc. We were able to drive off the lot with it 5 days later. Clarke stayed after hours to make sure we could get the keys to it and answer any questions. Everyone there seems very friendly and helpful. I drove up to Bird Kultgen on a Saturday to look at a vehicle that was on their lot. I picked up the vehicle yesterday and left very satisfied. I had the pleasure of working with EJ, who was nothing but helpful and professional. His transparency throughout the process was very refreshing. Over the weekend, I was reminded by the 100 robocalls from other dealers how frustrating this process can be. I didn't feel any of that unnecessary pressure at my expense from EJ or anyone at Bird Kultgen. At the end of the day, I was able to get exactly what I was looking for and have him to thank for it. Would not recommend in-house financing and stay away from Amanda. We were looking to purchase a vehicle out of state and were working with Juan Bautista. Juan was very communicative and sent lots of videos and photos; he even FaceTimed with us while driving the vehicle so we could see how it handled and how it sounded while being driven. We had our own financing through the bank, and Juan did not think in-house financing could beat our local bank rates, but just to be sure he set up a phone appointment with Amanda for us. Amanda called about 30 minutes later and my conversation with her completely changed our minds about buying a truck with this dealer. I thought the call would be about rates and financing but instead she started berating me and pushing us to finalize paperwork with her instead of Juan. I told her we were working with Juan, but she insisted Juan wasn't there right now and she could close this deal with her manager. I told her there was still negotiation that needed to happen on price and we would work with Juan for that. She said well obviously you want the truck if you are calling from 3 states over. I told her we do want this truck, but we needed to discuss pricing with Juan. She then said it sounds like we aren't even serious about this truck and that this may not be the truck for us if we plan on pulling with it because the person who traded it in upgraded to an F-450 for towing. It was a very long back and forth conversation for 22 mins, I should have just hung up because it was not the financing/rate conversation I was expecting to have. Juan called me twice after I spoke with Amanda and I told him we wouldn't be moving forward with their dealership. Juan laughed nervously when I recounted my conversation with Amanda and he apologized for laughing. Juan mentioned that other people have complained about Amanda's off putting behavior and attitude as well, but apparently she is still there and attitude still going strong. She definitely has used car salesman energy. Long story short, do not recommend this dealership for anyone looking to purchase a vehicle online. If you have to go with them, stay away from Amanda. I went this morning to have what they call a Works package performed on my F150. This is to include an oil and filter change rotate the tires, check tires for wear brake linings for wear and top off all fluids. This does not include balancing of the tires. I asked, what are weI asked what it would cost to add that in, and was quoted the full price of tire, rotation, and re-balance where the rotation was already included in the works package. The guy asked who I assumed was his boss and the guy said he would do just the oil change in the rotation and balance, and the difference would be around five dollars. I asked about doing the inspection and fluid levels, and he said yes it will all be done. my last work package at the same place came to about $103. My truck takes almost 9 quarts of oil, work package on the includes up to five or six. The printer desk Mattia guard came to $90.25. When I went to pay it was $140 and some change. I asked and the guy, told me that's what it is, apparently, I misinterpreted what I was told. Then I noticed there were only 8 quarts of oil on the sheet, the guy left, went into the service bay and came back and rewrite it and it was six dollars more for a total of $146.37. I asked about the vehicle report card which they've always provided and he said now it will come by email. The last time I went I did not fill my windshield washer fluid, and when I noticed that it was down by half, when I got home today and looked there is 1 inch of fluid in my reservoir. I went on to their website a couple hours ago to leave a review and of course the chat window comes up so I told the lady I wanted to leave a review well she didn't know where to go and wanted to know if it was negative or positive. (At some point someone there had unlocked the car and left it unlocked where it had been sitting.) We also made an online appointment for the car to be looked at a couple of days later, but no one called us about it. We had to initiate all phone calls. After having to rent her a vehicle for a week with still no progress made on the car, we moved it to a non-dealership repair place and had it back and working two days later. Really bad experience. I called the manager of the service department Mr. Taft and he refused to offer any service to repair my vehicle or any compensation for their negligence. I was impressed at first when my daughter's car limped into Bird Kultgen (BKFord) with car trouble on her way to Lubbock for school (good thing she broke in Waco and not out in the middle of Texas). However, that changed quickly as I tried communicating with the service advisor. He seemed pretty attentive to the needs when I drove 3 hours to get to the dealership from my home. My daughter explained the symptoms the car was presenting to the advisor and to me once I arrived. I thought it might be transmission issues based on what my daughter was describing. I was told they would run diagnostics on the vehicle to determine what the issue is. I was told if it is transmission issues it could be 3 weeks or more. Well that didn't sit to well with me to be honest dealing with a dealership 3 hours from home. But, I left it trusting that it would be taken care of. However, at the same time the vehicle was in Waco at BK ford I was looking for a way to transport it back home to my dealership. During this I began calling for updates and left messages for the service advisor. I didn't get returned calls at all. So, I went through the switch board and was transferred to my advisor's extension and he picked up then. I wasn't pleased having to use the "back door" to get a response. I was told it wasn't the transmission (awesome) even though it is under warranty. I told him great because I was seriously considering coming to get the car. I was told it some emissions issues and would be fixed. I told him that should take no more than a week. The next week went and drove the car back home thinking this is not a transmission issue. Wow was I wrong! I took the vehicle to my dealership for an oil change and transmission flush. The only reason I was getting the transmission flush was I noticed that the air box had been moved ( the bolt that keeps it in place was loose ) That was my tip because you have to fill the transmission by removing the air box to get to the transmission filler. My dealership showed me once I had it in the shop all the fluid leaking from the transmission. So, if you are Baylor parents or anyone else I would seriously reconsider taking your vehicle to Bird Kultgen Ford, unless you want to be lied to and cheated. After weeks of searching for a truck, I was able to locate one at this dealership. I contacted them on Monday and on Tuesday we had completed negotiations on the price. I sent a message that I needed to determine whether I was having shipped or flying in to pick up. The salesperson provided a shipping company to contact that provided us with the amount to ship on Tuesday afternoon. We contacted the salesperson via a text and phone call, both of which replied with "out of office notice". Wednesday we received a text back from the sales person and said in the midst of this the vehicle sold Tuesday night. I spoke with the Sales Manager and was told that I, as the customer, needed to place a "HOLD" on the vehicle. Should that not have been the responsibility of the salesperson or manager? This is not how to do business, especially with an internet customer. You could have done better. read more

If you want to be wildly disappointed, Bird Kultgen's service department is the place to go. Mr. Taft would highly benefit from looking into a new position elsewhere. He has no interest in the customers and does not care about you or your vehicle. Unfortunately, I had to learn this the hard way. I purchased my vehicle from Ford and routinely get it serviced at the Quick Lane. I'm utterly disappointed in how I was treated by Mr. Taft and his inability to communicate with the customers. My vehicle (2019 Ford Edge) has been in the Service Department for over a month now and I received little to no information on what was going on with the diagnostics. Now, they are telling me I owe $9000 in repairs and if I don't get those completed, my car needs to be towed off their lot. RUN FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. If I could give less than one star I would. There are many other dealerships in Waco, literally go anywhere else but here. We had the worst experience here. We saw a car we liked online, went in to check it out and test drive it (spent a total of 3 hours doing so), worked out a deal to trade in our car, and put down a $500 deposit and signed a contract to hold the vehicle while it went through detailing and servicing. We were told the detailing and servicing would be done the next day and that we would get a call letting us know when it was ready. After not hearing from them for two days, I finally reached out to see if the car was done. To my surprise, not only was the car not done, but they told me someone else had put in a deposit like we had two days before we had but that they had done it online and they didn't see it in their system until after we had left. They told me the car would go to them and we would be back ups in the case it fell through. They never called to notify me of this situation, I had to be the one to call and find out. I am shocked by their unprofessionalism in making the mistake in the first place and not notifying us of their mistake the moment they found out about it. read more

I bought a certified pre-owned Mustang at Grapevine Ford. I noticed that it sounded like my driver seat motor had a stripped gear not allowing it to move up. I thought, "no problem, I'll go over to BK Ford set up a time that I could bring it in and have it checked out. Mind you this is Tuesday. I was told that they are booked for the week and come back sometime next week?? I asked, " Can I make an appointment?" Service Writer - "No just bring it in early." Thinking to myself, its only Tuesday and your already booked, how is next week going to be any different?? I further go on to explain, that I accidentally programmed a MyKey to my car. I asked if it could be removed. The service writer, who was giving me completely contradictory information from what is in the owners manual on how to turn it off, was not listening to what I was telling him. I don't have an admin key to turn off my key! The admin key programmed to the car must have been lost by the previous owner. He told me there was nothing they could do then. I HIGHLY recommend that you not go to this Ford dealer for service. They are SLOW and CONDESCENDING and don't listen to what you are telling them. I will gladly not bring my car her for service ever, not recommend this service department to anyone, and let everyone know about this experience! I will drive the hour and half to Grapevine Ford. Doesn't everyone hate buying a car? It's just a thing--like death and taxes. So when we started to realize our driving habits changed, we began to evaluate our options. Full disclosure: we have had Fords for almost 10 years & we really like all that you can get for the price. We owned one Ford outright and another that was 1/2 way through its note. Over the course of a week, Michael emailed & texted us about our trade-in options and we stopped by once to see and sit in the cars/SUVs we were considering. Our experience with Michael via texting told us he was there to listen and serve us--not drop a sales pitch (as opposed to other dealers' text exchanges we've seen and heard about). The process of looking at cars, discussing our budget, signing the paperwork, and transitioning from our trade in to our new Escape Titanium was both efficient & casual. They want to make a good, lasting impression because they know they are in a smaller market and repeat customers are irreplaceable. We are really happy with our experience there and with Michael. Took my truck in Monday-Aug10 Come. Back 2hours later they have to order a part Wednesday Aug-12 called and asked if the part arrived. No stated they will call on Thursday to let me know if arrived. Thursday Aug-13 no call back so I called and No Part Friday-August -14 Called to check the status of the part I was told it arrived but wait we can't fix it until next Friday! Told me she would call if she could get me in on Monday. Didn't like that so I called back! I have a problem now. So I asked to speak with a manager and the line disconnected Monday Aug-17 no call back again so I called and today she stated that she can probably get me in on Wednesday but wait she need me to drop my truck off early that morning to see if she can get it in. Now it's for a FM MODULATOR not an engine overhaul or to fix something hard. This could have been set up Monday for today not keep putting me off. read more

First they refused to take Ford leased vehicle in, then they said they would take it and proceeded to sit on it for three months... never calling ford or doing the final inspection or anything. Now 90 days later they want us to pick up the truck. Even Ford has no clue what this dealership is thinking. I can't really speak to this dealership in terms of sales or service, but as someone who enjoys tinkering with my F150, I can tell you that the parts department people are awesome. I can't tell you how many projects I have had where I call in and they always have the part and know exactly what I'm talking about and it's ready to pick up when I get there. And even there are times where they have the part, but if something could be done cheaper elsewhere, they advised me on it (getting a new chipped key for example). The friendliness, professionalism, and all-out goodness of the parts department keeps me coming back time and time again. And for the most part, it's much cheaper to go through them rather than get it online, be at Amazon or eBay. read more

Totally screwed up my battery while I was there. They came out and said oh by the way your battery is dead. It was fine before we got there and only a year old. The battery won't charge because there's a short in it now because of something they did. I spent more money than I had to get the truck worked on and then they kill my battery. Johnny shamburger helped us and as soon as we got to the paperwork all of the sudden the manager comes out and says that they sold the car out from under us...which is probably a lie anyway ...we negotiated a good deal for 11.8k with 8k down with alignment added in...its likely that the manager didn't want to sell at that price and said whatever he could to get us out the door.....this ford is great in many ways but you are going to want to stay away from the "certified used" cars as the people working there do not honor their own written deal...if someone is willing to pay even 1 dollar more they will drop you and go for the other person. read more

Called and made an appointment to have my car serviced. Was told to have it there at 7:30am with a list of issues and it would be taken care of. I dropped it off with the list. At 5p, I went to pick it up (never got a call) and was met by a very unpleasant woman in the cashier's office. I was able to speak with another lady and the only thing they had done was change the oil. I asked why nothing else was done. I was told the car didn't arrive until mid-morning, to which I said no, it was here at 7:30. Then was told what I wanted done wasn't on the list. I had them show me my list and the "car shakes when driving" issue was the very first thing. I was told she didn't know that meant I wanted an alignment. That could have been anything, even an engine problem. Really? With a 2013 Escape with only $10K miles? Then was told I should have called prior to let them know I was going to be there at 7:30. They WERE called, that's why we were there at 7:30 that morning. After they couldn't blame me for anything, they started apologizing. So after all that, I received a $40 oil change. I will never use their service center again. The service manager did contact us. He advised us we should just go back to the dealership we bought the vehicle from. I went in last Friday to purchase a new explorer the salesman was very unmotivated and complained the entire time I was there about how tired he was and how ready he was to get off work. After sitting at the dealership for 9 hours I left with no answer from the bank. Saturday I called and the finance manager said he was going to call them and give me a call right back, HE NEVER RETURNED MY CALL! 4 days later still no returned call from them, we went to our bank and was told no paperwork was ever even submitted by them. I brought my 2010 Taurus in for a repair this week for the first time, to Bird Kultgen Ford. I have rarely ever brought my car to a dealership for a repair, but was pleasantly surprised. My husband had had the same part replaced on his GMC truck a few months ago, and Bird Kultgen charged less than what he paid at a neighborhood-type repair shop. Yes, it was kind of an expensive repair at about $550, but he paid over $600 for his. (It was a fuel filter emissions control thing.) Dealerships can be intimidating, but now that I have this first experience under my belt, maybe I will be braver about going to them for some repairs. read more
