Want a Cellar Door with large open space, dining options and a view? Bird in Hand will deliver. I really love the setting of this cellar door. The entry is open and manicured. There are a few seats set up in the warm weather so you can soak up the rays and while enjoying some vino.
Over to the Cellar Door, you will find a long bar with plenty of space for a few groups to do some tastings. The staff here are very talented, friendly and attentive. Even when it is busy. The tasting is free (which is a bonus) and offers a great selection. This is not a set tasting, you can request wines from the list suited to you.
I first found out about Bird in Hand with their Sparkling Pinot Noir. A very popular drop and is generally the wine that attracts people. It is slightly dry, slightly sweet and quite light. The colour is ever so slightly pink. I like that they have left a little pinot skin to colour the wine. As for the rest, the Shiraz is lovely here as well.
After your taste, go into the next room and you will find a large open space lined with barrels. A very big room and could easily be used for a function. There was a table tennis set up and a couple of heaters. A really impressive room! Check out the pictures.
Finally, I will need to return to dine in the restaurant. It's a lovely modern set up just outside of the cellar door. I would recommend booking in advance. I heard it get's busy!
This is a popular, but also very good Adelaide Hills Cellar Door. Be prepared to work the crowd on the weekends. But, well worth it when you try that Sparkling! read more
