I met the owner of Meraki Styles Salon last year (2019) after trying to find a salon when moving to Pittsburgh. Usually I stay with a salon because of the location but in this rare occasion I decided to follow the stylist when she opened up on her own. Location: the space is very nice. Minimalistic, with four chairs and a google assistant to set the mood - when she wants to cooperate. Cut: It is hard to judge a cut for everybody to judge, because it's personal style. But Bri's been cutting my hair now for a year now and I keep going back. But seriously. I had it cut every six weeks and I'm happy that my layers grows in very evenly. So even if you're jot a pro, like I am not it still continues to look good. When I come for balayage the process takes about 2 hours and I came out with really cute curls. See picture. Also ps: I keep asking her to curl it when I go but I really like it straight I hope she chuckles when I admit this on yelp Price: this is pretty fabulous. I pay as much for my haircut as my boyfriend. Bri is very fair and is able to cut and/or in an efficient way with pleasant conversation while giving you a homey feeling. Overall quality: I want to give her a five star but I'm a bit worried about how many reviews that are good have been hidden by the yelp algorithm, which is a little concerning for me looking at a new business that opened during corona season. Because of this I went to Laura's studio and had Laura herself microblade my brows. Pros: Scheduling is easy, it is all online. I had an appointment for a Saturday. Studio is clean, friendly, and welcoming. Laura is prompt, creative, and a great listener. She asked lots of questions about my lifestyle and what brows I was hoping to get. I said, whatever you think is best because let's face it, I don't know what to do with them. Painless! Laura put on numbing cream so I legit didn't feel anything. It felt like someone was drawing on my brows with a dull pencil. Cons: None! I just hope none of you reading this actually go because I have plans to get my eyeliner done and I don't want you to take all of her time up. She's my secret so shhhh! Seriously though, I've had 20 +people compliment my brows and they are still healing. It takes about two weeks before you can get them really wet or treat them like they really yours. (She goes over all of the after care with you in depth and she's so quick on email replies). Before you go to your first appointment, READ THE BEFORE CARE email she sends. I have been wanting this done for years and the process is a pretty penny. If you don't adhere by the guidelines then you won't be able to have the coolest brows of your life so do yourself a favor and follow her directions. Located in Westmoreland Mall, in the hall across from Old Navy, all the way at the end near the mall exit doors. There is no sign on the front doors, but in the window around the side. It's a very small studio, but the eyebrow tech is quick and efficient! The whole process took maybe 10 minutes for me, from sitting in the chair to paying for the service. After waiting 10-15mins, I was then greeted by the stylist who should have done my service to be told they have a strict NO CHILDREN or guest policy and that the policy was sent over to me prior to the appointment via email. That if I could have someone pickup my daughter and they could perform the service. First I would like to address the fact the policy was not sent to me via email because upon booking they did not ask for my email. Secondly how disappointing that this is a women owned business and they chose to implement a no children policy. Sadly I can not base this review on a service that was performed but only on customer service and policy and I would not recommend this business based solely on the policies and the way this situation was handled.
