Another review from me. 2nd time coming for dinner. This time with another couple. When I say my "better half" always finds fault with a meal, especially any kind of Italian food, I'm not kidding. He, along with our friends, all ordered the seafood in a fra Diablo sauce. I was nervous with this on so Many levels- the sauce, he hates when shells are left on the fish etc... 2 weeks later and they are all still raving about their meals. Said the sauce rivals any north end Boston Italian restaurant and even better, the lobster and shrimp shells were removed. I had the lobster risotto and while it certainly did not disappoint, I couldn't stop staring at everyone's else's meal. Our server was warm and accommodating. What a pleasant surprise this place was. First of all the owner is beyond personal. It's like you're at her home. The ambiance is elegant without being pretentious. Now to the food and cocktails. The cocktails were made masterfully, a rare treat in this day and age. The food was delicious and the portion sizes perfect. I'm saddened that this establishment is 3 hours from my home. If you're in the area you're certainly missing out if you don't stop by for at least one meal. read more

Besides the delicious variety of food, prompt polite service, & charming setting, there is one other reason to stop by Birch & Vine.....the owner, jack of all trades.....Patty! She is a gem. Whether she greets you at the front door, seats you, makes your cocktail, it doesn't matter cause Patty will always have a pleasant smile. And just so pleased that you stopped in. well never would have found this place without yelp but it said it was good and we needed a different route home so yes thank you yelp....smallish place which looks like a 50 s motel which i guess it was, pleasant inside and sort of a one woman Patti show but she enjoys it as did we, drinks were good and the burger and chicken wrap both excellent, interesting old style decorations, we really enjoyed it here...it got pretty busy (filled up actually) as we were leaving so service might get a little slow, BUT worth the wait....great!! read more

Service was great. Small dining room but nice view (we were there for lunch and they only had service inside. But the food was awesome. Potato chips with blue cheese, bacon & scallions made a perfect appetizer. Lobster BLT was fresh & delicious. Hubs had grilled chicken caprese and loved it. And their fries were hot and crispy. Celebrated my birthday at Birch & Vine last night. Patti, the owner always goes above and beyond. She has a passion for her restaurant and it shows! The food was delicious! We started with the Brussel sprout app and cocktails. So good, best around! Then, we had a delicious salad. It was fresh and crisp. My son got the butternut squash raviolis, daughter-in-law got the stroganoff, the pan seared sea scallops were AMAZING!! Husband got the prime rib. Everyone in our party enjoyed every last bite. The service from Daniel was excellent - he's very professional and knows how to make a great cocktail. I highly recommend B&V. It's probably the best restaurant in the area. For about 20 years this place was known as "The Pine Cone" but it changed hands this spring... Now it is called "Birch & Vine". You'll see a big sign out front - mostly you'll see "4PM." The menu is very upscale and the clientele are upscale too. We had a perfectly good meal - food and service were fine and prices were in line with the quality of the offerings. But if you're looking for a casual place offering hotdogs and hamburgs for the kids, Birch & Vine is NOT your destination. read more

Absolutely top shelf dining by a warm, cozy fireplace with sterling service! We enjoyed delicious, hearty apps and entrees (I had the chicken Marsala and my husband inhaled his fish and chips)! Also enjoyed at our table: salmon and short ribs so good-my mother-in-law went into the kitchen to thank the chef, personally! (And she's eaten everywhere from Paris to Malcolm Forbes' yacht!) Was really hoping this place had improved. If you like cliques when you want to enjoy yourself, this is your place. Unfriendly patrons and waitstaff. What more could a person ask for? (sarcasm) It took so long to get our drinks, that we decided to get our order to go. Getting the attention of anyone working there was pathetic. We paid for our drinks and left. Instead of a decent tip, we always tip well for GOOD SERVICE, we left a note that just because we aren't part of the clique, doesn't mean we don't deserve to be treated well. I think people need to cut this place some slack. OK, it's not the Pine Cone; it's pricier, and some of the menu items, e.g. the $32 Lobster Risotto or the $13 glass of Malbec def. are not Pine Cone fare. But this is a different restaurant, which I think has been reading the reviews and maybe making some small changes. Pretty sure my draft beer, a Shilling Pilsner, came in a 16-oz glass. My meal was quite hot. (My wife's seared tuna was cool and a bit raw, alas.*) The creme brulee was very tasty but seemed a bit cool and too runny, but repeat, it was delicious. So they are trying. I, too, miss the Pine Cone, because you could watch a football game or listen to those tapped-out 747 pilots gas about the old days ... but I'm willing to give B & V a chance. * This seared tuna dish is tricky ... the server should ask the customer if he/she would like it well-cooked, otherwise it comes to the plate looking quite raw. It's hard to prepare, but it should definitely be hotter/warmer than the fish we got. read more

Another night at Birch and Vine that far exceeded my expectations. The manager, Patti, is always so kind and welcoming and will find a spot to seat you no matter what. The craft cocktails were spectacular as always (including the coconut mojito, lemon drop martini, and pear ginger cocktail). And the appetizers and main courses were so unique and flavorful that it was challenging to pick just one. I ended up choosing the seared scallops with pancetta, farro goat cheese risotto and butternut squash purée. Even with the dining room packed, the service was wonderful as always. The attentive staff, great menu, and warm ambiance make this spot well worth the trip out of the center of Wolfeboro. read more

My wife and I along with another couple ate there Saturday evening and were blown away by the freshness, presentation, value and portions offered. Tuna, Steak tip special, Scallops and the large Ceasar salad with Chicken were all, out of this world. The Meatball appetizer as good as the North End of Boston; the Calamari flavorful and delicious. A word about the owner Patty, a warm, caring, hard-working lady, proactive with all her guests! She treats you as if you were eating in her home; gracious, and genuinely sincere in her desire to exceed her guest's expectations, she's lovely and extremely talented! Tried this place for an anniversary dinner. Staff was very welcoming and pleasant, including putting together a special dessert combo, but first to dinner. We shared wedge salad, which the staff split so we each got our own plate: good dressing and real chunks of bacon! Mains were tuna wrapped in sesame seeds for me, which came with not too spicy chile sauce, fresh ginger, and dollop of wasabi, plus jasmine rice: excellently prepared! Wife chose portobello mushroom ravioli in lemon butter sauce with lots of spinach and cherry tomatoes: light and flavorful. Dining area is set away from bar, so generally peaceful, with view out large windows towards the lake. We had 7:00 reso, and by 8:00 we were almost alone as we shared cake with ice cream and delicious hot fudge! Prices were reasonable for upscale dining, which is not common in the Lakes Region. Yes I have to add my voice to the "cut the place some slack" crowd. Been here twice, yes it's expensive and yes I loved the Pine Cone, but this is a different experience. I had the pretty good tuna steak tonight and - alas - there was an incredible mess-up with my wife's order, plus we were in a hurry - had to motor back to the island before dark. The manager (owner?) gave us a tasty salad and comped the cod - Thank you! - but the explanation for the delay was a bit sketchy. (Delivered to the wrong table?) I'd also suggest they work on noise, if they can. Clientele is older (like me) and noisy restaurants are unpleasant. So Morrissey's for diner fare, and this for a different experience. read more

The Birch and Vine is now our favorite restaurant, leaving behind the OBistro at the Inn on Main in Wolfeboro which has been our favorite restaurant for years. We love the atmosphere at Birch and Vine, and the decor is lovely. The food and service is outstanding. I had the scallops which were fantastic, and my boyfriend had the ahi tuna which was equally wonderful. My martini was great~served in an ample sized martini glass. I would recommend this restaurant for a special night out. For the quality, ambiance, and service this is the place to go. read more
