I did not think a liquor store could be a tourist trap. I am a wells resident and have never been to Tully's. I recently picked up a great pizza from the Pizza Market and needed to buy a 30 pack of Bud Light. So Tully's being next door I went in, I thought is was strange nothing was priced but proceeded to the check out thinking it would be more expensive than Hannafords (across the parking lot) but I was there and decided to buy it. $31.95 for a 30 pack of bud light !!!!!!!! I commented on the price to who I think was the assistant manager and he commented "you are in Maine" I responded that price was ridiculous and he said "we are near the beach" trying to justify his tourist trap pricing. FYI, the same product is at Hannaford for $21.95 In hindsight I wish I had just left and did not make the purchase but being in a hurry I went through with it. Will never enter that store again. If you are looking for a good craft beer selection go up Rt 1 north a few miles and go to Ahtesh, he has a better selection at a much more reasonable price. Don't get sucked in by the high reviews of Tully's unless you have money to throw away. read more

For the area, they have a great selection, of especially beers, but they also carry wine, cigars, bar supplies, and a nice collection of brewery pint glasses for sale. I also noticed a small selection of home brewing equipment. I used my Yelp check-in offer for the free Tully's pint glass, and it was granted. It's the only craft brew store in the area. They offer a more hard to find selection of beers you won't find at the local Hannaford. Mix and match six packs are always available. Constantly updated selection of the newest beers and breweries. Visiting the area for a few days, and checked out Tully's for some beer. They had a fantastic selection of a lot of excellent beers that I had never tried, making it difficult to choose what to buy. Things were made easier by a super helpful employee, and that they said I could buy mix and match singles from any of the beers that they had in stock. Wether it is your first time walking through the door or if you are a regular Dawn and the staff will always make sure they have what your looking for. If they don't they have something that is comparable. If you haven't tried a beer it is a good chance that someone on staff has tried it. Not only is this store located off of 95 and Rt. 1 (the gateway to all of the awesomeness that Maine offers), but inside it is a destination in and of itself. The selection of craft 6 packs is unrivaled, the larger format bottles are also exceptionally diverse - including hard-to-find local beer, exceptional brews from out of state and abroad. If you are into craft beer at all, this is your southern Maine spot for it, period. On top of that, the staff REALLY knows their stuff. They host tastings frequently, and post the latest offerings on facebook. You can also order kegs (I have done so twice for friends' weddings) and they are incredibly accommodating. I love this place and have for over 20 years now. It's the best place in southern Maine to find interesting, unique and special, rare beers. The wine selection is more limited and they stock a few beer-friendly snacks, but this place is really about the beers and owners know EVERYTHING about the brewing business, at least in northern New England. I keep expecting to see St. Peter every time I enter Tully's Beer & Wine. The soft heavenly glow of the coolers washes over me and makes me feel as though I am at peace with all of humanity.... love this place! Whenever we stop into Wells for dinner we all kind of look at each other with the "we're gonna go to Tully's, right?" look. Every single employee that I've encountered has gone out of their way to help me navigate the path to beer serenity. Note: they are knowledgeable and helpful, but NEVER pushy about anything. We tend to stay there and shoot the breeze, forgetting our hour long commute north to home. Making your own 6-packs of multiple varieties of beer is fantastic. Have only been once checking it out before a show. They have the greatest selection of craft beers around with a helpful staff. I dont smoke but seems like a good place to purchase cigars. Good selection of wine too-but more in the beer category and many labeld beer glasses for sale. Cases, 4 and 6 packs and individuals they have it here. Will definitely buy here next time I restock!
