I'm so glad we randomly stopped at Paddle Hard Brewing on our way to the UP. Located on a cute main…read morestreet in Grayling, we were seated right away at the bar although the place was pretty busy. Nate ordered a beer and I got the peach raspberry mule, which was delicious - fruity and sweet, but with a bit of a kick from the ginger beer. We decided to split the feta and spinach pizza, but everything on the menu sounded delicious. They also have tacos, paninis, starters, salads, mac and cheese, and a kids menu. The bartenders helping us were super friendly and polite. Our pizza came out super quickly and it was so good. It had a ton of feta, and the veggies were fresh. I loved this pizza and would definitely come back for more in the future. I didn't love the ranch (I think it was just Hidden Valley), but it's still an easy 5 stars for me!

We were in Grayling for 3 days and stopped at Paddle Hard twice - that's how good the food, beer,…read moreand service was. The beers were clean and fresh and there was a really nice selection. The food selection was just as good, with plenty of vegetarian options. If I were to get one thing again, it would be the plain mac & cheese. The portion is enough to share and comes with garlic sticks that are so good. We also tried two pizzas and both were better than most pizza shops I've tried in the area. The service is wonderful. Every single person was friendly. We liked this place so much we bought a tin tacker to hang on our brewery wall in California.

Tinker's Junction has a striking Wall of Honor dedicated to the U.S. Armed Forces, which is truly…read moreimpressive and worth a glance when you walk in. The atmosphere is lively--maybe a little too lively, with music blasting so loud it's hard to carry on a conversation. The salad bar was decent, and our waitress was friendly but clearly overwhelmed. We ordered an Italian grinder and a chicken-fried steak with the salad bar, but a few minutes later she returned to let us know they were out of steak. Another ten minutes passed before she came back to take a replacement order. Unfortunately, our meals weren't entered together. About 35 minutes into our visit, drinks finally arrived. Ten minutes after that, my dinner showed up... but the other entrée didn't make it to the table for another 20-25 minutes. By that point, we'd already shared mine and asked for the second meal to be boxed up. Between the long waits, the out-of-stock entrée, and the overly loud music, this just wasn't the relaxing dinner we'd hoped for. While the Wall of Honor is a nice touch, I wouldn't save this spot in my GPS for a return trip.

Tinkers did an admirable job , presenting a large portion (4 pieces) of chicken, along with a soup/salad bar option and potato of choice with the entree. It was golden brown, crispy and perfectly moist. Would consider it a worthy competitor to any I have had before. Our waitperson was friendly and just attentive enough. Tinkers will certainly become a regular place for me.

What an amazing place! We were looking for something to do and we found Shel-Haven on Yelp - I am…read moreglad we did. Easy to find and easy to get too. I have been to a couple canoe/kayak rentals down state and Shel-Haven is so much better! First, they will drive you to the spot on the river and then you kayak to where you car is parked. So convenient! Depending on how long you want your trip to be will depend how far up the river you get dropped off. Second, they do not hold your credit card and there is no annoying deposit. You just hand them your money for the time you want to be on the river and then you are done - transaction over! You do not have to check-in back and get your deposit back or have to pay more if you went over the time limit. Third, the staff is great. The gal who checked us in was amazing, so friendly and helpful! She also accepted the Yelp discount without hassle or questions. 2.5 hour trip in a two person kayak was only $18.00! Such a great deal. The kayaks were very nice, clean, and did the trick. Fourth, the river and trip itself is so peaceful and beautiful. A great trip to take if you are not an avid canoer or kayaker. River is decently wide and calm. Not a lot of crazy turns or quick current. We did not see a lot of wildlife. There are homes that line the river but some areas are pure woods with no homes, so it is a nice mix. The water is not that deep either. I would say the deepest we saw was 3 feet while on average it seemed to be about 2 feet deep. Fifth, easy ending place when you are done with your trip. You can also swim when you are done with your trip and the water here is about 3 feet deep. There was a worker at the return site to help you. Parking lot was also right there and you could go on your way.

We have been canoeing with Shel-Haven for over twenty years and have always had a great experience…read more We usually take the four hour trip from 612 and float the river for the day. Prices are reasonable and as the years have passed, more and more options for floating the river have become available. They also have a nice deck where you can watch the people arrive back from their trip.
