Great family owned. Here for 25 years. Food is excellent and it one of those gems we will lose if we don't support

This was not a great first impression. I arrived there at about 8 PM. There was no one else in the restaurant. A very old lady who I can only assume was the proprietor, pointed to the stack of menus and said "menu" and walked into the dining room room. I assumed she wanted me to follow her so I did and was seated at a table by the window. I ordered a Bun. It was fairly good, but not the best I have had in town. However, once I got done and went to pay, I noticed that the price on my check was two dollars more than the price displayed on the menu. When I pointed this out to the cashier, who was also the lady who seated me, her only response was, "No. Not $14.99. $16.99" I explained that was not what it said on the menu. At this point, and even older man who I assumed was her husband and co-proprietor pointed to a menu that was taped to the front counter top. He said.$16.99." I further explained that I had not seen that menu as I was told to pick up my own menu from the counter. And that was not the price on the menu that I read. He then responded by yelling at me,"Groceries cost more. Gas cost more you go to the store. Everything cost more." And I yelled back that yes but at least when I get to the register at the grocery store if the price was marked 499. Then it's still 499 when they try to make me pay. He said to me , " this is your first time here. You don't know how it works." and I responded that if this is how it works, then it will also be my last time there.. Good good. Poor attitudes and Customer service. No thank you. read more

The food was burnt and they didn't honor the prices on the menu. The menu prices were clearly posted on their counter. For two burnt dinners, it cost over $50 and it should have been $30. After I picked out the burnt pieces, the food remained terrible. read more

food - the food at the restaurant has been fresh and delicious every chance i've had to dine or get take-out food there. today, I ordered the chicken fried rice, with which my server offered soy sauce when he delivered the dish. i had water to drink, as that seems to be poured as a standard at the restaurant. the fried rice was good, as usual, with the experience today reminding me how much i like bean sprouts cooked as part of a fried rice meal. the dish was a little more expensive than i was anticipating, but i believe worthwhile for fresh and organic ingredients. service - as suggested before, the waiter was attentive and accommodating. i especially appreciate his waiving the order of spring rolls i originally requested with my meal to-go. and i'd also like to recognize here the work of the couple who owns and operates the restaurant, who consistently deliver high quality food and service. ambiance - the decor at the restaurant is superb, including several murals and wall hangings, with my favorite being the gold cat with a metronomic paw, though it did not seem appropriate to me to take a picture of it. i also like that the placemats on each table include information about lunar zodiac, but it confuses me slightly that the placemats say chinese zodiac, and the restaurant serves vietnamese food. either way, i like learning that i'm categorized by my birth year as a rabbit zodiac sign, with some associated traits. read more

As other reviewers have mentioned, the man who works here has a sharp wit. He left us laughing each time he appeared. The food was a time capsule of Chinese American food. We ordered the special dinner for 4 for our group. It offered enough variety that we all found a favorite thing. Plus the entree portions were large enough that we took some home too. My personal favorite was the ginger beef. Ginger matchsticks added crunch and brightness to this entree. The two fried appetizers offered familiarity and novelty. Both were served piping hot. I liked the spring roll better than the lumpia dog. The latter was the most unexpected menu item. It turned out to be a spring roll with a split hot dog inside. I didn't care for it because I don't like hot dogs very much. But it was one of the most "blast from the past" menu items. How much more American can you get than hot dogs? read more

This is the worst restaurant I've ever eaten in Tulsa. The food was horrible. The noodles were barely there, and it was hard. I didn't enjoy anything, even the service sucks. If they fixed the food and made it authentic Vietnamese and not Chinese, I would recommend this place. I am just being honest, and I am utterly disgusted with my meal. A true Tulsa gem. Binh-Le has been a long time favorite, not just mine, but my family loves it, too! We have come here for many occasions- birthdays, reunions, and just to spend time together over some amazing food. The owner taught me how to fold a napkin into a swan, and how to use chopsticks when I was a little girl. He also has an incredible memory- you will have to go and check it out for yourself! Their veggie egg rolls are the best in Tulsa. They are light but yummy, the perfect appetizer. I reccomend the Bun Cha Gio (pronounced Bun-Cha-Ya) salad, the cashew chicken, and ginger chicken! They usually aren't busy if you go during non-peak hours, so it's a great place to go for a quiet, intimate experience with loved ones or for a date! This is my best kept secret in Tulsa, and I hope they are around for many more years. This place is not Vietnamese... It is a sad version of terrible american food topped with poorly made Vietnamese street food... IF THAT EVEN. Wet, dissolving, stringy iceberg lettuce, floating on some sort of creamy-watery vinegar mixture (due to the lettuce being stored in a tub with water in it for WAY too long and it not being strained) topped with overcooked rubbery seafood? No thanks. I gave it 3 tries before leaving this review. Every time it was a disaster, I even asked the owner what HE would have if he was eating there- and it was a terrible mixture of hot-dogs, battered & fried pork on top of chopped lettuce, bean-sprouts and again... iceberg lettuce that is just WAY TOO DAMN WET. On a positive note- The spring rolls are great; As well as the service. I don't know why everyone here is crazy about this place. It is NOT GOOD VIETNAMESE FOOD. read more

This was one of the worst restaurant meals I've had, & was overpriced for the quality. First, I had 2 imperial rolls; the filling was only rice noodles & lettuce, 2 for $5. But even worse was the entree - vegetarian chow mein. It was a small bowl with a few veggies and only what seemed to be bottled soy sauce. The sauce was thin & very salty - not a prepared sauce, & about 1/4 cup of it was pooled in the bottom of the bowl. I couldn't eat it. Probably worst of all, when I went to pay for it, the menu listed the price as $9.99, but my bill listed it at $12.99. I questioned that, & the server said, "Oh, that's an old menu; it's $12.99 - & that's what I had to pay. I've eaten at Binh Le several times before & was fine with it, but I won't go back. read more

Biggest nightmare I've ever experienced at a restaurant! When we first walked in, the server (an older woman) had no smile, people skills, and didn't even greet us (her and the owner were very rude and uninviting, seemed like they didn't want to be there). They were out of certain items on the menu that were not available. The server never came and checked on us during our entire time dining. When we got the bill, I went to the owner at check out and kindly showed him that the menu prices were lower than what we were charged (menu prices were 20% lower). He aggressively and rudely answered, "Give me your credit card!! Food is going up all the time!! Have you seen the prices at a grocery store??" I've never seen such an angry reaction before from restaurant staff, I thought he was going to attack me! Didn't even want to acknowledge that they have not updated menu prices in a long time. Food was average at best. Despite being called a Vietnamese restaurant, they only served Chinese food. Beats me how this place is still in business. This place should be shut down for good! Why even own a restaurant when your customer service skills are terrible, and belligerent to your own paying customers?? Should get 0/5 stars!! read more

I was in town for work. Not being familiar with the area I didn't want to drive to far from my hotel, because I might get lost. If it wasn't for YELP, I wouldn't have any clue to what types of food was in the area besides, fast food & pricy hotel foods. I enjoy vietnamese food so I wanted to try this restaurant due to the convenience of the location between work & the hotel. =) When I arrived there there was only one couple there and myself. Not knowing what to order, had to take a quick glance at yelp pics to see what most people ordered. I was surprised with my order. Being from the bay area your use to seeing a lot of green, (veggies) If you'd like to see pics i'd posted a few of my order. Taste was um...ok no rich flavors, I think it could have been better. It wasn't a wow effect or anything. It did get the job done. Tummy is full. I did't go back for a second try. I think I had hotel food & mexican food which was more flavorful. The absolute worst experience. Went early. No one there. Took forever. Hair in egg roll. They replaced them. Sweet and sour chicken absolutely not sweet no sour. Super bland. When we got the bill the prices were completely different. When I asked him he got super offended and said have you seen the prices of groceries? Of course I have I'm in the food business. However you can't just go and put what you want on the bill without informing the guest!!!! It was about an $18.00 dollar difference. The coffees alone were changed to 1.74 more. Completely rude. This is our favorite Vietnamese restaurant and has been for years. The pho, the spring rolls and the bun go (salad bowl) deluxe are the best we've had in town. The spring rolls and peanut sauce are phenomenal. Furthermore, the prices are very reasonable. I told my sister about Binh-Le after she moved here 14 years ago. She is also a repeat diner. How have I not reviewed this place?! This was my families first introduction to Vietnamese cuisine and boy were we spoiled. This quickly became a popular choice on our rotation of restaurants. The service is wonderful and the owners always remembered us. The food here sets the standard for Vietnamese food everywhere I go, and every time I come to Tulsa I 100% have to visit. My standards are: -Imperial Rolls (the clear wrapper, mint, and the peanut sauce is so good) -Shrimp fried rice and PINEAPPLE SAUCE! -The bung chai ya......that was my white girl way of spelling that. Basically the big bowl with everything good combined inside (noodles, beef, lettuce, and top it with a chopped up egg roll, wha!?) Also the clear sauce is seriously bangin. I am soo happy this restaurant has stood the test of time. In fact I am going home next week and this will be very high on my list of visits. read more

The customer service is great when they get to know you but at first it seems rude. I think it's probably because they pay so much attention to their delicious recipes! special dinners on the back of the menu are our go to orders. Always order for an extra person and get the deluxe. This place has great food for what it is. It's nothing fancy but everything we ordered was fresh and tasted really good. The service was quick but I have to admit the lady co owner wanted to rush us along which I found annoying and offensive at times. We had never been there before so we took our time reading the menu, in about a 10 minute span she came to the table 3 times and scurried off the last time obviously annoyed, she came back a 4th time and just stood next to my friend while we finished deciding, it was rude and just unprofessional. We were nowhere near closing time, for the record. Once the order was in she left us alone then the food started coming out, we got one of the family dinners so there were multiple courses which was nice. The food was very good, everything had great flavor and tasted like real food, I can't say enough about how good it all was. If you're looking for something super authentic or really fancy this isn't that type of place, but if you don't require those then you will absolutely enjoy the food. When the check came we were still finishing up the very last of the food and our fortune cookies, which is fine but clearly she was sending a message. Then after 10 minutes or so (we were still eating the last pieces) she walked up to the table, didn't look at us or say anything, and lifted up the check to see if we had laid a card or money down which we hadn't, then hurried off with a slightly annoyed energy about her. Finally I went up and paid and everything was smiles and than yous. I feel the food and the atmosphere of the place deserve a high rating but the co owner really needs to relax a bit with the customers, I see other reviews saying the same types of things. I think 3 would probably be a more accurate all around rating but the food was that good and she was nice most of the time other than her rushing. So note to the owner, back off your customers and don't lose business because you want to rush people out, we don't like it and just want to enjoy our meal on our timeline. read more

The service is so poor in this restaurant. I went during my break while in school at 9pm. The lady that owns or runs it, came over and hurried me to order, didn't talk at all and her and her husband or business partner sat across the room and just stared at me while I ate because they were in a hurry to close up. Sorry I chose to spend money in your establishment . I get it, I'm in the service industry and I know it's annoying when people come around closing time, but service industry is about the service and that definitely wasn't the focus at my visit. This has to be the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant EVER! ON VALENTINE'S DAY TOO! The man took a good minute or two just to get to the front counter when we arrived, was offended that I requested chili sauce instead of chili paste and corrected me "chili paste chili paste chili paste" verbatim with a very dude tone. The service was nonexistent once the food came out and we had to call the single waitress (who was apparently also the other cook other than this waiter who appeared to be the owner) over to request takeout boxes. Even worse, the 2 Asian families seated adjacent to us were treated like royalty and given smiles and offered extra items on the menu, as if Caucasians are unwanted. Best Vietnamese food that I have food in Tulsa. We love the Pho and the Deluxe Bun bowl.

Binh Le has good Pho, while it may not win the title, best pho in Tulsa. It is very good. Just a little different; once you get in the swing of eating it, you start to crave theirs in particular. The specialty at Binh Le, would be the Deluxe Bun Cha Gao. Best in Town. The spin they put on this dish, is chopped pieces of Shrimp Potato, in addition to the standard chopped egg roll. This really is the best menu Item. Pro Tip: You can just order the "Deluxe", and they'll know what you mean. The Imperial Rolls are highly recommended as well. They're basically un-fried spring rolls, with shrimp and vermicelli, wrapped in rice paper. With peanut dipping sauce, you can't go wrong. Summation: Pho, Bun Cha Gao, Imperial rolls. You'll be happy camper with any combination of these. I wouldn't waste my time, or calorie intake with any other menu items, other than the Vietnamese Coffee(Rich, Iced Coffee). It's delicious. Don't be deterred by what some may consider a rather "sullen" demeanor with the service. I think it's worth it, and probably somewhat a cultural difference. I wouldn't suggest getting too offended. Just laugh on the inside. They really are nice folks. Just become a regular, you'll see. Final note; The soundtrack for your meal will most likely be super authentic music. Enjoy! read more

Charges more for tofu than meat ( didn't know until the bill came) and was rude when our order was messed up :/ Portion size was okay. Fair warning: I am Vietnamese and I was born and raised in areas of California that are notorious for their delicious Vietnamese food. In other words, my standards for Vietnamese food are very high. I realize that the Vietnamese food here in Tulsa can in no way be compared to the food that I've had before, so I will not be overly critical. I got the beef pho. There are two sizes - small and large. The small bowl cost about $4 and the large cost $9. I got the large, and once the pho was brought out, I started to wonder how teeny tiny the small actually is. The large was the smallest bowl of pho I have ever seen. It is smaller than usual child size pho bowls that I've seen before. Very overpriced (but again, I don't know how the market for Vietnamese food runs here in Oklahoma). The pho itself was interesting. The broth was decent and the noodles were good, but the meat was very odd to me. The broth was a little fatty, but it wasn't completely MSG laden and had good flavor, so I was pleased with that. The noodles were overall cooked well - some of my noodles clumped together, but that's okay. I'm used to pho coming with many different cuts of meat, but here, it was only one and I'm not sure what it was. It seemed like a chopped up beef - kind of like bulgolgi. Really odd texture to me. No tripe, tendon, meatballs, or rare meat like all of the other pho bowls that I've ever eaten. My overall impression of this place is that if I'm really craving pho for my remaining time in Tulsa, I'll be back. But, if this place were to open up near my home in California, I would not come here. read more

A brilliantly tasty menu and an enjoyable atmosphere. Highly highly recommend for anyone who enjoys asian cuisine in general. The deluxe bun cha gao (deluxe vermicelli salad) may be my favorite dish in the world. The egg rolls are also the best I've had throughout the world. Sauces are incredible.
