It didn't really have a beefy flavor and it was totally lacking in texture. And with nothing really to cut through the fat, the whole thing ate really, really heavy. The whole thing was just so middle of the road. Honestly I would've rather been eating a Whopper. (At least that burger has that flame-grilled flavor going for it.) I doubt I'd order from Wayback again, although it's certainly possible they were just having an off night.

I've been creating meals with the leftovers ever since. I was running errands today and felt like something different. I remembered this Fresh Burger in Scarborough and decided to give it a try. For some reason, Google Maps wasn't sure whether this eatery was open. I took the chance and drove down. It's in a plaza that I used to spend a lot of time at when I worked in Scarborough. This Fresh Burger is next to Starbucks, which used to be Licks -- a burger joint. I managed to nab a parking spot fairly close to the eatery. I backed into it and walked over. A friendly woman greeted me when I entered the place. Her welcome was so warm and great. I looked at the menu. She was great being patient with me. I went with combo 1, which is a Freshburger with fries and a drink. She asked if I was good with all free toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese, Freshburger sauce, pickles, and onions) on my burger. Yes! I decided to upgrade my fries to poutine. The drink is a canned pop of your choice from the fridge. I paid with a credit card. I gave a small tip, as she as friendly and helpful guiding this newbie through the process. She thanked me. Done! She let me know that it would take between seven and nine minutes for my order to be ready. It was nice to know. I thanked her and went to the fridge to grab a canned Diet Coke. I found a table for two and sat on the bench side. I took photos and then checked my inbox on my phone. The music at this eatery was awesome. Rihanna's Umbrella played. That song came out when I worked in this area. Pretty cool and coincidental. All artists playing in this eatery were female, which was also interesting. They included Miley Cyrus and Christina Aguilera. This nice woman brought my food to my table in a paper bag. That gesture was a nice touch. I was expecting my order number to be called and I'd head up to the counter to pick it up. I thanked her. She hoped that I'd enjoy my food. You know what? I did! My Freshburger was, um, extremely fresh. The beef patty was delicious and seasoned nicely. I loved the crisp lettuce, the generous tomato slices (yes, plural), thinly sliced onions, pickles, and cheese. There was Freshburger sauce that was yummy and tangy. I don't know what's in it. I'd guess that it had mayo and ketchup, along with some spices. When I first looked at my poutine, it seemed like there wasn't any gravy. This place uses a lighter gravy, which was all at the bottom of the container. The poutine was excellent. The gravy was hot when poured over the cheese curds and fries. The more I ate it, the more cheesy goodness happened. The fries were perfectly fried. I had quite the experience enjoying my poutine. When I was done, I threw everything in the garbage. I then headed to the back use the washroom. The man who cooked everything asked how my food was. I gave him the thumbs up. It was an excellent meal and I was thoroughly satisfied. He was happy. The washroom is a single stall for customers. Next to it is a staff-only washroom. You basically open the door with the button and press the button inside to lock the door. The button colour changes from green to red when it's locked. You press the red button to exit and it changes back to green. The washroom was super clean. It was also wheelchair-accessible and roomy. No complaints. I left and wished them a great evening. They reciprocated, even wishing me happy holidays. Staff are super friendly. It was my first time at any Fresh Burger. It's a delicious burger. It's a smash patty, so it's got that irresistible crust you expect. And what a crust it is! Once served, I bit into this chicken burger that consisted of grilled chicken tenders, Ozzy's salsa, lettuce, and whatever Ozzy's special sauce is and was pleasantly shocked at just how good just a simple burger turned out to be.
