A lot of potential, but not today…read more We were sold on coming when we saw a Brie brisket sandwich from another reviewer. Unfortunately, this was no longer on the menu but we thought we'd give something else a try...starting with French fries (these were good). Then we shared the carnitas sandwich and delicata squash. Both of these items have a lot of potential, but the chef missed the mark. The carnitas sandwich was 95% fat and we couldn't eat it. When we let the waitress know (not expecting anything other than providing feedback), she seemed annoyed but proceeded to provide a discount to accommodate us. Shifting to the squash...it's spicy. We are certain cayenne was used, even though the menu list pomegranate molasses...the skins weren't removed and overall just wasn't something we'd recommend. We left most of the bowl behind. Anyways. The menu does appear like it has potential just needed more TLC when making the food. We appreciate the wait staff trying to make up for the negative experience with the food, but also would appreciate the attentiveness from the waitress. They did seem short staffed, so she may have been stressed out but when a customer provided feedback...maybe take it more graciously? Overall, this feels like typical resort food. So if your into that type of food, enjoy!

We got two spots at the bar, that was also almost full. The burgers seemed very popular but after asking our bartender, she said the ribs were really good, off the bone" so we ordered that. Since we don't like too much sauce on them they put the sauce on the side and it was perfect. The ribs were exactly as she described them, tender, perfectly cooked. Fries that come with them were great too, and as side we got the suggested Brussels sprouts, and must recommend them too. They were delicious! The coleslaw wasn't our favorite but everything else was great. Casual atmosphere, with food options for all.

While they have parking, it was full and it was unclear where else we could park without violating parking rules. Once we figure that out, in we went and it was packed! It was a Friday night and there were having live music. The staff was lovely and found us a space in the corner. We split a meal and got burnt ends and ribs. We also ordered some fries and the cornbread. WARNING: the cornbread (which they also warn you about) has bacon it it. I thought the burnt ends were good - just needed a little more umph, but they had sauces at the table. The ribs were also tasty, but I stuck with the burnt ends. The fries were a good match for what we ordered, but the cornbread was not my style. I think I like it sweeter, but the bacon took it another direction. Still good, just not my taste. This will definitely be in our rotation of where to go when we visit our kid.

Upon walking in you'll notice that it is a very small restaurant with their lights dimmed low. The bar area is ready to be taken in photo and put in one of those decorations magazines. The hostess was great, the waiter we got was really friendly, knowledgeable and the food recommendations were FANTASTIC. We got the chicken wings with pickled carrots and house ranch, the side of pulled pork, their Pig Mac burger (a double) and their duck fat French fries (OMG). Everything was good, we would just look at each other and say "did you try this, did you have a bite of that?" my only regret is that I didn't get a chance to try their skillet cookie and that we live more than an hour away. We will definitely go back and eat at this restaurant again.

It gets busy and they don't take reservations. They do have an online waitlist but we went around 4:30 and didn't have to utilize it. Our party of 6 climbed camel's hump earlier in the day and showed up famished. We knew this was the right pig out spot for us to refuel from the moment we walked in, smelled the food and saw the amazing ceiling-high bar. The smoked meats were outstanding. High quality cuts smoked to perfection. We had an order of every meat they offer and they were all just as good. That being said, I could go back just for the cornbread w maple butter. My word, it was like eating cake for dinner. The Mac & cheese was ooey and gooey with a nice crispy top. And the cookie skillet was like a party in your mouth. We didn't think we'd be able to finish everything but there wasn't a crumb to be found when we were done. As far as service goes, it was as good as I've ever had at a place like this. Our server was laid back yet always on top of things. We never waited for anything and her timing was perfect. There's outdoor seating if that's your jam.
