When I arrived early just to check in, they said our table was ready whenever we wanted, and they happily started serving us at 6:30. Some people were seated outside, with tent umbrellas to shield the rain, and there was an upstairs room with more of a brewhouse experience. I recommend the latter if you're visiting. The downstairs room felt sparse and too open. Things got a little funky after that. Everything requires ordering through Toast, which worked for most of us but not all. Toast is missing the personal touch of people asking for your order when you are getting table service and not ordering at the counter. The one lady serving us was generous to personally take the order for my one friend who didn't want to put his credit card online. Otherwise, your order is carted over by "teenagers" (the lady's exact quote) from the smokehouse across the street. When you place your order, it comes out as it's prepared. Your table may not all come out at once, especially if it's 7 people like ours. Drink and deal with it, I suppose. But the wait from first dish to last wasn't terribly long. I really enjoyed my sandwich. They did a great job with their smoked chicken - I'm glad I let their smokehouse influence me. It was on an excellent pretzel bun. Great beer. So other than people's rumblings about Toast, we had a good time overall and didn't let the weather rain on our parade.

I would suggest a visit on a Saturday afternoon if you have time. Each associate is kind, which tells of their culture. The owner is beyond approachable and is willing to lend his knowledge even during high traffic times. The selection of beers- local craft, imports and domestic brews rivals Horrocks and definitely beats them on price. They stock many specialities and sell individuals of local craft brews. You can make multi-packs without commitment and come back for a 6 or 12 of your favorite. They are well rehearsed on the seasonal selections have them ready early for parties and events. If you need a bulk amount they typically have all you need. Oh and they have nice 2 for sales and bulk buy sales. The quality of their finest spirits range from the $ Ripple to the $$$ Green Label. There are so many shelves that you can find anything in your price range at the State rate. You won't need to shop for a lower cost. They also have nice accompaniments like pickles, chips, salami, cheeses, gum and other snacks. I don't come for the wine and beer accoutrements but it's a save in a pinch.

I chose River House Grill this trip since it was a beautiful night, and on the water. While getting off the interstate and heading in to town, I noticed this eerie presence, nothing was open, signs were dark, stop lights not working... I got to River House and a few regulars were still milling around the bar, I was told they were closed due to a power outage throughout the entire city. After some conversation, they said if I had cash, I could still buy a beer (always carry cash!). The regulars moved on, and I was finishing my drink when the power comes back on! The owner Mike had already sent most of his staff home, as the estimated power restoration was well beyond their normal operating hours, but he said he would turn the fryers back on, and start the pizza oven since I was there. I told him he didn't have to and I would head back to East Lansing, but he insisted, at this point I was the only one in the place! Ordered a pizza, and boy was it delish! By the time my pizza had arrived, a few others had managed to come in and fill up the place! Thanks to Mike, Jen (bartender) and the staff who stayed! I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu, and see the renovations next time I'm in the area! Cheers!

Last night we stopped for dinner and I was pretty impressed, it turned out to be one of the better dining experiences I've had in a long time! The atmosphere is a cool rustic/industrial feel common in a lot of breweries. They were playing some pretty mellow indie music, and while I generally don't take it into account, it really complimented the ambiance and took the whole experience to the next level. I had the blueberry flavored stout, which was really interesting, and my parents had whatever their standard beer most similar to domestic light beer. I forget the names but both were really good! The service is casual, just order next to the bar whenever you're ready and they bring it out to your table when it's ready. We each had a pizza, they only make one size, I believe a 10 inch, but for us it was just right! No left overs, but we were all satisfied. We tried the margherita, Hawaiian, and veggies pizzas. The sauce was savory, the crust was crisp, the cheese and toppings were generous and tasted very fresh. Overall, best pizza I've had in years and reasonably priced at about $8-10. I don't only recommend doing yourself the favor of stopping if you happen to be in the area, this place is worth making a special trip for, if you have a similar experience as I did you won't be disappointed!!

Holy sh*t. It would…read moretake me the length of the book of Genesis to properly describe the transcendent experience I had while dining - no: truly living - at Reserve. I've had some crazy meals in Grand Rapids, but this establishment has to take the cake. Their menu seems to rotate pretty frequently so I won't delve too deep into the specifics of my three course meal, but let me tell you that it blew me away. Flavors, textures and aromas so complex, so perfectly balanced, SO delicious that my eyes were rolling in the back of my head with every bite. Everything is sourced as locally and as sustainably as possible, and by god it comes through in the dishes that, frankly, belong in a museum. A proper meal combined with a proper friend at Reserve is sure to cure ANY blight you may have come upon (except financial hardship, this place is not cheap). Treat yourself and/or others to this exquisite experience if you are able and willing.

Very pretty & stylish dining room. Portions are generally smaller & meals are pricey. Our server seemed to disappear for awhile. Not collecting drink orders for quite awhile. I had the scallops, which were good but not AMAZING. A friend had the beef, & she really enjoyed it. I didn't understand them being all spread out around the edges of the plate, like numbers on a clock. Seemed like they got cold fast. The other friend had the entree size pasta of the gnocchi, which looked great & she really enjoyed.
