Started off great but service really lacked. We had a reservation at 7:30 and arrived early, and had a show at 9:30. We had to wait and wait to get service and the check at the end of service. The food was awesome we loved the tomatoes and whipped cheese and the steak was great! Wine recs we're on point. Just 3 stars because service was very disappointing. I was a server at one point so I understand and usually don't review on that but it was really really lacking for our visit.

Came her on a girlfriends weekend after reading a blog about how amazing this place was... I'm not going to lie, upon arrival I was a little disappointed that seating was closed on the second floor, the first floor seemed a bit basic, simple vibes. Long story short, we viewed the menu and were hesitant to order dinner so we considered just appetizers and drinks. But one thing led to another...after sampling some recommended wines by our waiter (who was on point by the way), he suggested trying their oysters, so we did, and omg, delicious! Then he suggested some cheeses and meats, again, wow! Entree suggestion as well, on point! And finally dessert! We had the best experience and everything was delicious! I've already shared my experience with many friends and family and they've got this place bookmarked to visit!

If you're a wine connoisseur, Reserve is your spot. Located in downtown Grand Rapids right next to the Amway Grand Hotel, it's a wine lover's dream. My family made a reservation for their second floor outdoor terrace as part of my dad's 65th birthday wine crawl. It was the best stop by far. Here's why: 1) Menu: Of course, it's full of wine- bottles, glasses, white, red, rose, international, they have every kind of wine. The staff are knowledgeable on the menu and can recommend one to meet your standards. I ordered a crisp riesling and didn't regret it. The menu also includes food. Our cheese board, stone fruit salad, and squash blossoms were delicious and well portioned. 2) Service: It was very attentive and engaged. In our two-hour visit, we had several staff members help us. Each was friendly. 3) Space: It's beautiful. For our group of nine, we had the second floor outdoor terrace to ourselves on a Saturday at 4:30pm. It was a peaceful setting. 4) Prices: Compared to other Grand Rapids spots, the prices are steep, but if you're coming from a major American city, the prices won't shock you. I highly recommend the Reserve!

We only stopped here for drinks. They were totally full (on a Tuesday) and the wait was over an hour. Even though it was 95° out, we sat on the patio because it was immediate seating. Our server was mostly polite, and our drinks came out quickly. Ill go back, but with a reservation.

For a date night, I made a reservation online ($25 per person fee that goes towards your meal) and got a spot on their upper outdoor terrace. It was shaded and could enjoy the warmth without baking in the sun on a 90° day. We ordered a variety of things and everything was good per usual. While the server shared her opinion, and it was very honest, she did mention that some of the serving sizes were bigger but I wasn't anticipating that they'd be smaller than I thought because of the comment. I'd say the sizing was perfect if you were hungry, but I wouldn't say it'd be enough if you were starving! Definitely load up on more apps if that's the case. Otherwise the perfect size. I always love the atmosphere of The Reserve and don't frequent it often, as it is a little pricey, and I like to try other restaurants in the city instead of constantly going back to the same place. It does provide a unique menu and great ambiance, so I know I'll be back again, but maybe in another year or two since I know they mix up their menus often.

Came here for a work dinner and this place blew me away. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and guided us through the food and drink menu. He took my request for a glass of white wine somewhere between dry and sweet and his choice was a delicious riesling. He did this for a few of the other people I was dining with and everyone loved his choice. Having built our trust we decided to also let him choose our charcuterie board. He picked a nice blend of goat cheese and cheddar along with prosciutto and salami. The presentation was great and came with a mix of toasted baguettes, pickles, pickled raddish and honey. The menu changes frequently so I won't go any further into entrees but the food was phenomenal. We ended the night with the apple wasabi sorbet and hot chocolate cake with housemade marshmallows. Wonderful dining experience. Would recommend to anyone visiting town and looking for a unique restaurant!

I have been here twice now for work dinners and both times I wasn't impressed. The portions are miniature and the food is average. This last dinner I was there and got butterball gnocchi to go for my wife which actually was tasty but for $19 the portion was beyond ridiculous. I honestly don't know if they accidentally gave me too little or that was the actual size. Overall, decent food, average atmosphere, over priced for portion sizes. You can pass on this place.

Reserve didn't make the best impression. My party of 2 arrived at 6:23 for a 6:30 restaurant and we were asked to wait in the foyer, even though the restaurant was essentially empty. I would have appreciated if the hostess explained that our table was still being prepared and that we were welcome to sit at the bar or something. Thankfully, the rest of the experience made up for this early blunder. I started with a sparkling wine cocktail, and it was lovely. We began with the corn ribs appetizer, and it was nice and tasty! The corn was perfectly roasted and dressed with smoky seasonings and dusted with cheese. I also tried the roasted shishito peppers as an appetizer. The dish was garnished with squid ink and was also delicious. My main course was the duck, with cherry sauce and pasta. The dish was presented elegantly and the duck was cooked to a perfect medium rare. I finished with some dessert and an espresso and can say that Reserve gave me a great meal!

My wife and I had a great dinner outside on the patio, but the service was very slow. We were celebrating a special occasion and the staff was in the loop because our family made our reservation to surprise us. The staff was very friendly and continued to apologize with how slow the service was. It seemed that they were trying very hard to not rush us and didn't put our next course in until we finished the previous, but that's just a guess. They claimed the cheese guy was very backed up and surprisingly, the cheese board was the slowest thing we ordered. We started with the Corn Ribs and they were delicious and we wished it was a larger portion. We followed that with a customized cheese board which was average and took forever to arrive. For our main course, my wife had the chicken and dumplings while I had the truffle burger. We both enjoyed our dinners. They surprised us with a dessert and a message, which was very thoughtful. I'm sure we would come back but we were there for 2.5 hours, which is crazy with their limited capacity rules.

Reserve is the perfect spot for a trendy downtown date night out, corporate meeting, or a night of laughter over cheese boards and wine flights with the girls. As such, I have been to Reserve an obscene amount of times in the past year, and have yet to be disappointed. First off, their happy hour rocks. You can get a delicious grilled cheese or burger with pork fat fries for $8, a few pasta dishes for even less, and select cocktails and wine for $5. All delicious, so if price is preventing you from stopping in, head in before 6pm and enjoy! The cheese boards. OMG. Their cheese menu has about 10 cheese options to choose from and they are ever rotating with unique and incredible flavors like "Dorothea potato gouda" (PLEASE keep this one forever), "Nettle" with hints of mint and sage (amazing), and all types of jams, honey, mustards, etc to take them over the edge. Their dinner portions are very small, very tasty, very pricey, and very beautifully presented. Their cocktails are always delicious and perfectly strong if you can manage to take your eyes away from their incredible extensive wine menu. And if you leave room for dessert I'd definitely recommend the S'mores option. Our servers are always attentive, knowledgeable, and kind.... even when we badger them with extra bread requests for our cheese boards! haha My love affair with Reserve isn't going anywhere!

Came here for dinner prior to going to the orchestra on a Friday night. Highly recommend you reserve in advance, as the place was packed. We were seated on the 2nd floor. We started off with a 3 item charcuterie which was delicious, and came with additions of honey, mustard, fresh bread and other pairings. For dinner I had the market fish which was a grilled sea bass which was perfectly cooked. My boyfriend had the chicken and dumplings which he enjoyed. My dinner was paired with white wine. We used Reserve's deal of buy one entree get one entree free for February which is an excellent deal. Otherwise I probably would not have dined here due to the higher meal prices, but it's a really nice place to go for a fancy evening out!

Reserve does a fantastic job with their food and wine. Located among the hype of downtown GR's Monroe Street, Reserve is a fun place for drinks & dinner alike. Weather permitting, the outdoor patio tables are a great addition, with plenty of heaters to ensure comfortable dining temperatures. We were able to get in on a Friday night and stayed very warm outside! We began with cocktails *PRO TIP: the cocktails are under the "by the glass" category on the menu. This was strange and hard to locate. I enjoyed the "Baby You're Driving" it was sweet yet well balanced. Emily enjoyed her sazerac though it came without a garnish which seemed odd. Their wines are also great and they have plenty of unique options. I highly recommend the cheese & charcuterie boards here at Reserve. Lots of local cheeses are featured and I particularly enjoyed the chèvre from Evergreen Farm & Creamery in Fennville! Seriously it was one of the best goat cheeses I've ever had! Smooth in consistency, light, citrus notes and a mild finish. The sweet corn agnolotti was beautiful in presentation, but I found it to be overly acidic. It needed more sweetness, and more umami components to balance out the acidity in the citrus goat cheese and the overpowering balsamic vinegar. Though the homeade pasta itself was al dente and smooth. The cacio e pepe was to die for! I am a huge fan of this classic dish, and the abundance of burgundy black truffle shaved on top of homeade noodles was everything I hoped for. I tend to prefer a bucatini shape for this dish, but the short noodles were still great and well prepared. I'm ordering this again, no doubt! Emily thoroughly enjoyed her truffle burger. It was large in size and she added an egg to the top. The fries were thick and I believe they were cooked in duckfat for extra flavor. The bright brothy Italian dish the Breanne ordered was good but underwhelming. She noted that the little purse shaped noodles themselves were delicious, but seemed to be unimpressed by the broth. The Caesar salad is fresh and mild, yet creamy, though it is made with a variety of lettuce types (rather than the classic romaine). I found our waiter last night to be a bit pretentious and he didn't nail our drink orders, however, my other experiences with the staff as a whole have been promising. In summary, The Reserve does a great job with their food, their wine menu is extensive and unique, the cocktails (once we found them) were fancy and enjoyable. Cheers!

I found once such piece of onion in my dish. Since it was just one, it didn't ruin the dish but they need to peel more carefully in the future. They have good hummus. They serve it with sliced vegetables and pita. It's a generous amount of hummus and vegetables and pita and hummus didn't outlast the dippables and dippables didn't outlast the hummus. GET THE MANGO RICE! Wonderful, toasted, nutty almonds slivers, warm sautéd mango chunks with hint of cinnamon, warm sticky rice, and a lightly sweet cream to pour all over. Reasonable prices, many menu choices. Ambiance is basic but food is great.

He surprised me by bringing me there for my birthday, hoping it would be a great experience. There were definitely some positives to the evening. Our server was genuinely kind and attentive, and the cocktails were enjoyable. The presentation of the food was also nice. To drink, I got the pornstar martini which came with a side car prosecco and he had the espresso martini. My partner had noted in the reservation that it was my birthday and it wasn't acknowledged during our visit which disappointed him but we understand that these things can sometimes be missed. The food, unfortunately, was mixed and didn't quite meet expectations for the price point. We started with the breaded mozzarella, which looked beautiful and had a nice cheese pull, but the flavor was very mild and needed salt which was an easy enough fix but still a bit disappointing. My partner enjoyed his chicken piccata. I ordered the steak frites, and while I don't mind a little pink, the steak was very uneven in thickness, which led to inconsistent cooking. One portion was noticeably very rare while another was cooked to the well-done level I requested. The steak was also quite tough, which made the dish difficult to enjoy overall. While I truly appreciated the service and drinks, the food quality was inconsistent, and after giving it a sincere second chance, I don't feel inclined to return.
