Very nice and clean place. Staff is friendly and location is ideal, anything on Carlisle is a good idea. It's nice to have a mini golf place right next door. But the ice cream itself, I'm not sure if it's frozen yogurt. Maybe I've gotten too used to custard but this was the opposite in texture. And flavor? What flavor. We tried the peach soft serve sample, I didn't think it was terribly hard to make considering chick fil A owns it! But yeah this was like peach flavoring you put into water, with Splenda. The blackberry just tasted like purple, idk it makes no sense. And the sundae that is literally vanilla with fudge and mix ins...the best part was the pretzel. We stopped in on a whim while out shopping for a car. The place is incredibly clean and modern. The servers were quick and answered our questions about the homemade ice cream flavors. After much pondering because all of it sounded good, my husband and I each selected one scoop in a bowl. No, the ice cream isn't cheap. But it's really good homemade ice cream. Not that cheap, mass produced stuff with too much corn syrup and guar gum and other fillers and blah stuff thrown in. This is creamy and thick and dense and flavorful and just plain yummy. Worth the trip. Worth the price. One of the two best homemade ice creams I have found in central PA. Two thumbs up. read more

Stumbled upon this gem coming home from playing bingo. I have never heard of this ice cream place. The homemade ice cream portion on the sign invited me in. I knew it would be good. The parking lot is huge, so it's not an issue getting a spot. We were greeted by friendly workers since we have never been. I asked for their top sellers, and they suggested a few. I decided to go with one scoop of the black raspberry ice cream, and my boyfriend went with the hot fudge browine sundae for $7.30 and picked the peanut butter ice cream. They topped each of our dishes with a pretzel. I am assuming it's a signature thing the pretzel was yummy. I thought my ice cream was amazing!! My boyfriend really enjoyed his sundae. However, we thought the ice cream would have been fully peanut butter, and it was vanilla with peanut butter thru out it. Other than that, it was good, and the browine was delicious! The moody teens working at this place act like it hurts to smile or display anything remotely resembling a decent attitude. It's just ice cream, but I will stick with taking my business to Perrydell. Needed to get out of the house tonight so we came out here for mini golf. The mini golf hut directed you to pay inside, the staff does not have masks on. The price for golf at the hut was $6.50, when we paid it was only $3 per person. You can't get a better mini golf deal then that! Golf course was fun, but could use a little clean up. After golf we went for some ice cream, quick service at great prices. It's a shame that there are no animals here anymore, this place definitely lost business since the animals all left. read more

I've done extensive research into ice cream joints (you're welcome). I'd be inclined to give Mack's a three, but in these tough times, I just can't bear to do it. The ice cream is good--not great, but good. The flavors are a little weak and the texture is a little greasy rather than creamy, but that certainly didn't stop me from snarfing down two scoops (banana pudding and Blue Moon [kinda like Froot Loops]; the former was better). A peach milk shake tasted like...milk. But it's a cute place and the servers were quick and pleasant. Pair it up with the Mountain Mist mini-golf that's all but attached, and really, you can't go wrong. read more

Delicious ice cream. The taste & texture is just right and the prices aren't bad either. Nice selection of flavors, big parking lot & good location overall. The ice cream is similar to Half Pint Creamery in McSherrystown. The one problem I have which I consider a big problem is that they give off this impression that it's homemade & high quality. It might be assembled on site but if you check the ingredients on the tubs in the freezer, you'll see they add random junky ingredients that mainstream ice cream factories use. They sell food as well, like diner food. It's pretty good! My wife & I had their burgers and fries, and we give them a thumbs up. Wish they sold chicken tenders. read more

They gave me Vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. Is it impossible to comprehend an ice cream sundae without vanilla? What? Are you serious? I specifically said a chocolate sundae. I know they HAVE chocolate ice cream. Then they're supposed to all ask what toppings I'd like. Who trained them????? It tasted fine until I found TWO WHITE HAIRS in my ice cream. That's disgusting. Most everything my family and I ordered off the chalkboard menu was not in stock. We made so many substitutions for what we really wanted for dessert. The side where the hot food is , is just local grocer frozen foods deep fried and served. The interior is very old fashioned. Great place for old fashioned ice cream. I'm a huge fan of anything peanut butter. Waffle cones are a plus and every desert gets topped with a snack pretzel. We are very disappointed in Mack's, particularly since they renovated. We used to be able to go in and order a meal and then have ice cream for dessert but they have completely done away with the food. Also, they only have one flavor of sherbet most of the time, which is orange. Occasionally they have vanilla, which is what I like ,but they rarely make it for some reason. Also, the last couple of times we walked in I ordered a sherbet cooler and, even though they have coolers on the menu, they don't have the proper ingredients and worst of all the server had no idea how to make it! Besides the fact that they have no good food anymore, they also can't seem to manage inventory. We have been there about 6 times or so over the last 6 months (we used to go multiple times a week). Most of the time they are out of ice cream toppings. On multiple occasions, they have been out of peanut butter cups, Reese's pieces, etc. it's frustrating that they can't keep something simple as candy in stock. I've been a faithful customer for 5 years since I moved into Dover in 2015. Love their staff, always polite and friendly, and of course my favorite milkshakes. I stopped by with a friend on Sunday, May 2, 2020 around 5pm. The line waiting outside was very long but I noticed that the customers could also go inside the store to place an order. We walked in, with our masks on, and there were 5 customers in front of us and not one person was wearing a mask. I believe, in your best interest, that there should be signs on all of your doors stating that there will be no service to anyone not wearing a mask. Not only are they putting your staff at risk but also the customers. According to Governor Wolfe no one is to enter any establishment without a mask. Please follow the guidelines accordingly. The food isn't that great, but the ice cream is delicious. However, the last time I went here (in August of 2013), my friend found a small sliver of metal in his milkshake. When she showed it to the staff, they simply replied by saying they had a piece of machinery break and that a few metal pieces went flying over their ice cream containers and they weren't sure where they landed. We inquired as to why they would continue to serve food that had potentially deadly objects in it, and they shrugged it off, saying they couldn't afford to lose all that ice cream. They never apologized and didn't seem to think anything was unusual about a sharp metal object in a drink (one that was small enough to be sucked up a straw, mind you). I love taking my kids here for their AWESOME burgers, and then complementing our meal with 1 or 2 many amazing flavors of ice cream. Burgers are so fresh and yummy! Line can be long but it moves quickly. Best "real" ice cream around - no question about that. Puts that "machine mix" dairy queen stuff to shame. Friendly service and also serves decent burgers, chicken tenders, etc. Also, mini-golf is next door if you're in the mood. A great family place for sure. read more
