Bikeway is a solid bike shop and I wouldn't hesitate to return for any repairs. The staff is friendly enough to greet you when you walk in, but won't follow you around asking you a hundred questions. I needed repairs on my bike, so I came by on a random weekend and the staff gave me no issues. They were upfront about the price, and potential work it needed. They said they would call me to let me know if anything beyond what I approved needed to be done. I had no appointment, but they texted me within a few days to say that the work had been done and my bike was ready for pick up. They were able to repair my bike without having the replace any parts, and they just charged me for the labor (which was a very fair rate). Overall a very smooth experience. I watched the staff interact with regulars, and it seems like they have a solid customer base. I especially appreciated the transparency on pricing, and not pressuring me to do more work than I needed, or pushing a new bike for a sale. read more

Top notch service. I asked about putting a trunk rack on my car, and someone simply put it on with no hassles. This store is very spacious with many accessories that i need for road rides; I purchased a co2 tool and a spare inner tube. If you need to be fitted for your bike, by all means ask for Doug. He did a wonderful job of getting my fit just right, because before I was sitting too low, and my arms were too forward. The fit price is very reasonable, and I was out riding the next day, and I could feel a huge difference in my ride. Highly recommend this store for service and selection. read more

I have to say that reading the mixed reviews on yelp made me hesitant to come to this bike shop. I've passed it hundreds of times but never had the need to go in. Cue pandemic. I pulled out my bike that I bought online at least 7 years ago, dusted it off and rode it on the amazing rail trail. Love that place. But something felt off about the bike. I read as much as I could online and watched a bunch of YouTube videos and finally decided it was time to just show it to a professional. Brought my road bike to Bikeway today, waited outside with a mask on, and one of the Bikeway team came right out, also masked for covid precautions. I explained the issue with my gears and that I am still basically a bike newbie. (Everything I learned is from when I was 5 sooo basically I know just enough to be useless but also ride 50 to 75 miles a week.) He said it sounded like a gear adjustment issue and that it would cost 25 per wheel so 50 total... But then he said he'd give it a test ride first. Came back about 3 minutes later and showed me what the deal with the gears was. Then he took the time to explain how the gears work and what causes issues and what doesn't. He then said I had nothing to worry about, it was a simple non-technical (read: user error) issue and that I was good to go. He never made me feel dumb or like I was wasting his time - just really educational and helpful. Super professional, super friendly and absolutely no upsell at all. Being relatively new to the biking world, I decided to pull the trigger and get myself a bike to ride around the rail trail. I asked many people what to look for in a good bike and everyone said the same thing, go into a store and try them all for yourself. Of course I spent weeks researching bikes online, and almost purchased a bike with a great price tag from the internet. Thankfully I found Bikeway before I made my purchase! Bikeway is a great local business with sales and service for anyone at any level including myself. I was looking for a hybrid style bike that would give me the flexibility to ride on some small trails while giving me the opportunity to go fast on the road. I came here on their annual sale day, and was greeted by Zack, a nice young man, who was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process. I wanted to try a few different bikes within my price range, and Zack was very informative, well spoken, and spent over an hour with me, even when I needed assistance with my newly purchased trunk rack. The store itself is filled with many other great employees, who have vast knowledge of all styles of cycling, mountain biking, downhill, etc. The repair shop is state-of-the-art and impressive, and and they offer small service options for regular maintenance at a reasonable cost. Anything you purchase from their accessories section, they will install it for you right there at no extra charge. My experience with Zack at bike Bikeway was so positive for me that I've been out biking almost every day since I purchased it a few weeks ago. This inspired my fiancé to purchase a bike as well, and last week we came in again with intentions of buying a similar bike as mine, and of course we were greeted by Zack again who helped us find the perfect Specialized hybrid. My fiancé fell in love with her bike, and in the process also with Bikeway. The manager, Owen I believe, was also very helpful in searching for apartment storage solutions for our bikes. He suggested all different types of mounts and offered to order anything that they didn't have in stock. Although we didn't buy mounts, it was nice to know that Bikeway has these available. We will definitely be coming back to purchase some accessories and for scheduled maintenance, which is included in the purchase of the bike after 60 days. While stopping in today, I wanted to pick up a few tools and noticed that they have a 30 day price match policy that will allow you to identify a better deal on your purchase, which will not only be retroactively matched, but also they offer an additional 10% in store credit with any price matching. I was in search for what I thought was a nice "above entry level" bike, looking to spend around a thousand dollars. I went to several shops but bikeway was my first due to its close location to my house. Inside is huge and they have a lot of bikes within, unfortunately their customer service is poor and staff members are extremely smug. I was not greeted when I entered, and started wondering the store looking at different models. After a while someone did come up to me and as what I was looking for. Immediately they tried to up sell me into a higher price point. After explaining that I was not looking spend more than $1,000 on a bike their attitude quickly changed from helpful to dismissive. They also push Cannondale bikes on you, which I did not want to buy. They did have the bike I was looking for, but due to how unhelpful they became over my price point I opted to order the same bike from Yorktown Cycles. Honestly, the 30 minute drive was worth not being treated like a "peasant" at Bikeway. You will see in every one of my reviews I always try to shop local, even if I pay a bit more, but I do not like being treated poorly. Going to Bikeway is like going to a car dealership. They try to upsell you into the higher model and when they can't your not of importance to them. I will not be back. read more

Riding up and back from Lloyd to Hopewell Junction, I got a flat maybe a quarter mile returning from Hopewell Junction. A passerby on foot reminded me that Bikeway had a booth at Hopewell Junction and, unbeknownst to me, another biker, seeing me removing tire and tube turned around and told them at the booth of my predicament. While I was checking for anything remaining in the tire, one of the Bikeway guys rode up, checked my situation out, and returned with a new tube a few minutes later. He replaced the tube and inflated it. I was out a mere $10 and was on my way. It was a beautiful weekend. These people have to be really dedicated to be manning the booth and providing support to bikers at these rock-bottom prices. I'm not local, so it's unlikely I'm a returning customer, but I would be remiss not to share what a classy operation Bikeway appears to be. read more

My wife and I haven't been on bikes for about 40 years but recently felt the call from the area rail trails. We told the Bikeway staffer our story and roughly how much money we were looking to spend. The salesman asked us a few questions about our intentions and presented us with a couple options. It was a very low pressure environment - in fact when I indicated I might be willing to spend a bit more money he stopped me. He wisely told me to wait until I was sure it was a hobby we would latch on to before we spent more money. We bought the bikes about 2 months ago and have really been enjoying them. Since then we've returned for tuneups (no charge) and to add a few accessories. The staff is always friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. I don't hesitate to click all five stars. read more

Personally, I have never had an issue with the Bikeway. The staff have always been friendly to me and my kids. They have a tremendous amount of extracurricular activities both in the shop and off site such as training indoors throughout the winter, triathlons (for adults & kids) and demo days. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with Bikeway. I took my 2004 Cannondale R-600 in to have a lever hood replaced on a Monday. I was told the part may be in on Wednesday so I left my bike. I didn't hear anything Wednesday so I called and was told it might be in on Friday. I didn't hear anything so I called on Saturday and was told it hadn't come in, "it had to come a long way". I told them I would pick up my bike by Monday. I went to pick up my bike Monday and the counter help couldn't find my bike. I had to point out my bike and he told me the part hadn't come in. I told him I just wanted my bike. The manager, I guess, came out and told me they had been looking for a part but it was hard to find. I asked why I wasn't called, they had my bike for a week and I had to call twice to find out about my bike. He told me he was waiting to get the part before he called. So I am without a bike and not able to ride. He did apologize so I give them a 1, but he didn't take ownership for not calling. I have planned on buying a new Cannondale CADD but this lack of customer support ended my plan to buy a bike from Bikeway. read more

This is the worst bike shop in New York. The manager is just plain mean, and too busy to help paying customers. The mechanics are untrained and the shops poorly equipped No Torque wrenches. They can do it by feel. I made the mistake of bringing in a repair, took three times for them to fix it. I have Zero confidence in the mechanics. Overall the staff is arrogant, and poorly trained. I would not buy a bike from them. I would not again bring them anything for repair. I am done with bikeway and cannot recommend the the shop. read more

I had spent $605 dollars on a bike for our granddaughter for the summer but she was at camp or on vacation so she barely rode it. I took it to the bike shop because the chain came off and she took a spill. She told the person who greeted us what had happened. They kept the bike and texted me it was done. When I arrived a different person gave us the bike, when I questioned about the damaged handle grips the employee said the they were just worn out and asked if I wanted to purchase new ones. I said are you kidding me, look at this bike its brand new and barely ridding he said well its a mountain bike. The people there do not care about customer service, I noticed it while buying the bike. I will not recommend the place at all. read more

4.5 Stars in my opinion I have been to bikeway in Wappingers Falls multiple times, looking at bikes, parts, etc. Every time you enter into bikeway there is someone that greets you and asks if you need any help. The staff are also usually in the showroom / back room so if you're back there they'll ask if you need anything. These guys do not look down their nose at you, they don't pressure you into sales ( I should know, I had work done to my wal mart bike before I bought a specalized secteur). Things that I don't like: Closed on Sunday, I had work done on a rim and was told $12 and it cost $20. One of the salsemen remembered my name two days later, which I found impressive. FedEx denied the claim because it was judged to be the shippers (Bikeway) fault. Initially Doug Cory was responsive, then he just stopped answering my emails and phone calls. I've was very patient for over 2 months hoping to find a reasonable way to settle the issue but apparently he was hoping I would just lose interest and go away. Bikeway is the worst shop in this area! There customer service is the worst. I bought a cable and housing for my front derailleur. Guess what it cost 30 dollars for them to put that in.....what are they God at putting cables in? All of the labor charges are over priced. I am new to the area and stopped by Bikeway this afternoon for help re-adding and adjusting the rear tire of my bike. The staff was extremely nice and helpful, showing me the proper way to remove and add the rear tire, adjusted the brakes which were slightly out of alignment, and even helped me get the bike back in my car. Because it wasn't a tune-up they didn't charge me even though they spent a fair amount of time looking over and talking to me about my bike. I thought it was very professional and really appreciated it. I definitely recommend them and plan to go back soon. read more

Friendly and knowledgable staff. This is the second bike I've bought since moving to this area. My first bike was sourced at another shop in the area which wanted to get me on the bike and out the door 5 minutes...my experience with the second bike bought at Bikeway was an entirely better experience. The sales person worked with me for some time to make sure I had enough knowledge to make a good decision and helped fit me to the bike in a non- rushed manner.
