(Back Story) So my review starts with a "Bad Dad" moment…read more Accidentally let my son's bike fall out of my open hatch on my car while backing up this morning and ran it over. Derailleur (yes, that's how it spelled, thank you Google) was completely twisted, cables crushed and slight bend to derailleur hanger. My son rides daily and how would I tell him when he came home from school that the bike was wrecked. (Start Review) I called Catskill Bicycle Supply shortly after they opened. Spoke with Lee on the phone and he said to bring the bike in and he would look at it. They were open on a Monday which doesn't happen a lot in rural New York which was nice. I brought the bike in and he took a quick look and told me a few things he saw and asked me to leave the bike and he would get back to me with an estimate. I left expecting to hear from him later in the week. Shortly after noon time, I had a text with a very reasonable and detailed estimate from them. I gave them the green light to make the repairs and again made an assumption that I would here from them by the end of the week at the earliest. Two hours later, Lee texted that my son's bike was ready for pick up, exactly four hours after being broken. They were able to squeeze in the repairs while waiting for parts on other repairs and explained that a two hour turnaround isn't the norm but they knew the kid would be sad without his bike. Can't thank them enough for the great service. Now the quandary, do I tell my son of what transpired since 8:30am today or just park the bike? Tips: Located on Main Street Catskill conveniently with street parking. While this was a service visit, their bike's for sale looked pretty amazing. Was in and out so quick, I never got any photos.

Catskill Bicycle Supply provided fantastic, personal service, customized the suspension, bars, etc. and dialed our bikes in to the tee for us! We were SO pleased we bought a 3rd e MTB, a (hardly) used Specialized that they also dialed in for my wife.

Bikeway made it easy and fun for me to shop for a new gravel bike. I started at the Wappinger's…read morestore, where George was very helpful at showing me several options at my size and budget. The stock was more limited than I hoped, but given my budget of about $2000 and shortages of materials, it's unlikely any bike store would have more than a few choices for me. George then checked the stock at other Bikeway locations and found an option he felt confident I would like. He called Ethan at the Montgomery location and had them hold the bike for me to try. Ethan was friendly, helpful, and didn't make me feel pressured to buy something out of my budget. I loved the bike that was put on hold for me. The shop was busy but I felt I had lots of personalized attention and service. The team set up the handlebars and seat so it would be comfy for me to ride. They even swapped out the pedals to my preferred option and added a water bottle cage for no cost! Overall, really great experience for someone who's pretty new to biking. I will be back for accessories, tune-ups, and future bike purchases. Thank you, Bikeway!

Sadly, I can not rely on Bikeway off 17k as my LBS…read more I took my old hoopdie to get a tune up. Staff who received my was very friendly. I said I wanted the bare minimum just to make my bike safe and was quoted at $55 for a tune up and $8/tube front and back. I asked if he thought my tires needed to be replaced and he implied he did not think so and the mechanic would check them out. I then requested to be notified if anything was discovered. As I was handing my bike off, I felt the saddle slide back and forth on the rails. I said, "Oh this has been slipping - will you ask the mechanic to check that out?" He implied it was not a problem and I was told something like 10-14 days. No biggie - it's my cheapo. I was notified the bike was ready (well before 10 days - a pleasant surprise) by text saying I could pick it up and the total was $114. Since it was a text I figured I'd inquire about the amount when I went to pick it up. When I arrived and was handed the bike back, I asked how we got to our final number and was told it was for the "nimbus" and then about the formerly undisclosed fee to replace a tube (in addition to the cost of the tube), and that I got a good deal because usually the tune up is $75... but I have a single speed. I quickly determined the Nimbus is the name of the nice quality front tire they put on without informing me. As I was handed the bike, the saddle slid back and forth - an original issue. I asked why it had not been addressed and was told "it's not on the work order" with a shrug. He then politely informed me "maybe it's old" and that they, right there at the bike shop, could sell me a new seat post or a new saddle (starting at about $35!) By now I was getting a bit steamed under my mask, if you know what I mean, and decided to get rolled on this one, having endured such apparent disinterest for helping me in any substantial way. When I got home I noticed my right pedal had a broken section (cheap pedals for cheap bike and I'm sure I did not notice previously because I hadn't been using the bike for a few years). So I'm left with some questions. What business changes the terms of service without informing the customer before proceeding and sells them a product prior to consent? What mechanic works on a bike and does not note: An old chain (I asked for the bike to be "safe" And suspect an old chain is the reason it keeps jumping off the sprocket); A partially broken pedal on the drive side; and A saddle that is not clamped down by the saddle clamp, and therefore slides freely back and forth whenever touched or ridden? I tested a fat bike on a past visit. I bought some pedals for my mountain bike and was given a set screw for my clipless pedal cleats gratis from the congenial staff. My honest take is Bikeway is a place to purchase some top-tier fat bikes, road bikes, mountain bikes. They have a slew of multi-thousand dollar options for you. If you require the service of a local bike shop employing one or more bike mechanics who service bicycles AND happens to sell them as well, you'll want to take a ride somewhere else. Oh, I just fixed my saddle clamp, prompting me to write this review. It took twenty seconds labor, a pair of robopliers, a hammer and the big rock in the yard. I just wish I had $114 to add some tools to my budding bike tool box.

Awful Experience -- Stay Away from This Bike Shop…read more I've tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but after multiple bad experiences, I'm done. The co-founder -- who seems to be the face of the business -- is consistently rude, dismissive, and lacks basic customer service skills. Today was the final straw. I came to pick up my bike after clearly telling their service rep I'd be in on Wednesday or Thursday. Instead of being helpful, I was met with attitude for not "calling ahead." I'm sorry, but I gave a window -- and you're closed Sunday -- so maybe don't take it out on your customers. Previously, she left me standing outside even though it was one minute before opening. Another time, she snapped at me for wanting to load my bike into the car before paying -- as if helping a customer ensure the product fits isn't part of the job. And when I finally spoke up about how I've been treated over the years, she literally told me she didn't like my tone. Not professional. Not acceptable. If you value good service, skip this place. Anyone know a better bike shop in Westchester? I'm in Ossining -- happy to drive 15-20 minutes for respectful, reliable service. Thanks in advance -- and seriously, avoid this shop if you don't want your day ruined. Look at this biz owner's response. This is how they treat customers. She basically told me she does not like my voice. Like how I speak. ___________________________________________ Owner's response below blaming me for getting g yelled at for not calling in advance. -after I told their service provider I would be in Wednesday or Thursday to bike up my bike. See blow folks. Unfortunately, the biz owner's response is consistent with the kind of dismissive attitude I've experienced in person. I stand by my review and hope other customers take note.

As soon as I brought it in, they immediately identified an uneven saddle that I hadn't realized (which turned out to be a cracked rail) in addition to a badly worn chain (which I did suspect). The tune up including replacing the chain & saddle were completed so quickly that I was able to pick up the bike the very next day! Very happy, rides as if new, and now have a place I trust for future work.

Pick it up for a second time and they over charged me $20 bringing my bill to $120 .... They took the $20 charge off and left my bike repaired with a badly scratched derailleur on it even though I brought a fresh one with no scratches in on the second visit... Not the best experiences, just calling it how it is / was too. I mean who repairs a bike with a fresh hanger but leaves the derailleur looking like shit.. Located in my town but if I don't have to back I won't go back! Spent close two $200 in two repairs and both times left unhappy.. Actually on the first repair I had to bring it back beside for $75 it shouldn't make sounds and should work accordingly, no!?! SUPER UNHAPPY. Now I need to bring it to another bike shop to have the derailleur taken care of and my handle bars wrapped was left looking like shit and when I brought it in I said I had handle bar wrap but no one asked if I was happy or need anything else situated before they went on vacation and before I picked it up. If I opened a bike shop I know I could do better and it starts with BUILDING RAPPORT AND ACTUALLY CARING!
