Awful Experience -- Stay Away from This Bike Shop I've tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but after multiple bad experiences, I'm done. The co-founder -- who seems to be the face of the business -- is consistently rude, dismissive, and lacks basic customer service skills. Today was the final straw. I came to pick up my bike after clearly telling their service rep I'd be in on Wednesday or Thursday. Instead of being helpful, I was met with attitude for not "calling ahead." I'm sorry, but I gave a window -- and you're closed Sunday -- so maybe don't take it out on your customers. Previously, she left me standing outside even though it was one minute before opening. Another time, she snapped at me for wanting to load my bike into the car before paying -- as if helping a customer ensure the product fits isn't part of the job. And when I finally spoke up about how I've been treated over the years, she literally told me she didn't like my tone. Not professional. Not acceptable. If you value good service, skip this place. Anyone know a better bike shop in Westchester? I'm in Ossining -- happy to drive 15-20 minutes for respectful, reliable service. Went for a tune up; best $ I've invested in a long time. I have been a bit negligent and was seriously overdue. As soon as I brought it in, they immediately identified an uneven saddle that I hadn't realized (which turned out to be a cracked rail) in addition to a badly worn chain (which I did suspect). The tune up including replacing the chain & saddle were completed so quickly that I was able to pick up the bike the very next day! I asked the guys at Bicycle World to pack and ship my bike to Arizona, they charged $60 to pack and around $75 to ship. The quality of care and thoughtful effort they put into the disassembly and packing was outstanding. I honestly did not expect them to take so much time and care and go to the extent they did to protect the frame, components and wheels from damage. While new bicycle stocks are low everywhere due to worldwide supply chain issues, Bicycle World has been super helpful keeping my families old bikes in working order. That includes an old Full-Campy Custom Serotta, and an old but high-end Trek Tri-bike that my daughter used for many years, including commuting in Montreal at McGill, and lately training for a Half-Ironman. Bicycle World re-fitted my daughter's old Trek last year, helping to solve a developing knee problem. I consider the $200 price for a complete fitting (with posture-suggestions) was a deal, considering the alternative costs in pain and medical expenses. They can't do anything about my pain trying to keep up with my daughter up hills, however. This week, I bought her a used Cervelo P3 bike from theproscloset.com, and again, Bicycle World did a very complete and fine-tuned fitting. They also fixed a couple significant issues: (1) somebody had dropped a seat-clamp into the frame, which required completely disassembling the crank and headset to extract, and (2) the derailleur drop-out was bent out of alignment. theproscloset.com was actually happy to pay for those fixes on an otherwise- pristine bike. The less-than-one-day turnaround was perhaps lucky, but great since my daughter is here for only a few more days. We should all support our LBS, and I'm very happy with mine. I also find their prices are usually as good as Amashame.com or is it Amascam.com? In the shop they are all wearing masks (and I mean correctly!) which I also appreciate. read more

Ever since covid hit this store has gone so far down hill. I used to use them as my go-to bike shop for accessories and bike tune ups, however I am tired of being treated like a "contagious threat" to their staff. Bicycle World has the largest mask sign on the door I have ever seen, along with instructions to call staff within for your needs prior to coming in. I visited looking for high pressure valve caps and some air and they treated me like I was attempting to hurt them. I was so taken back, and they were so rude about everything. I did not make my purchase that day, and took my business to Yorktown cycles instead. There's a fine line between keeping yourself safe and treating your customers like trash. During the summer of 2019 while on vacation in NH I decided to start looking for a new bike. A salesman in this one particular store was extremely helpful even though I told him I was not yet ready to buy. When I was leaving the store he said to me, "whatever bike you decide to buy, make sure you take it for a test ride first." So in March of 2020 when looking for a bike store I read the great reviews about Bicycle World and decided to try them. I was impressed with the level of attention I received so paid the $50 for a bike fitting. Once the fitting was done that is when things fell apart. When I said to Eric I would like to test ride the bike before buying he told me you do not test ride a bike. He said this is not like buying car. He would fit me for the bike, I buy it and will love it. I asked several times and each time the answer was the same. And that was that. read more

Bought bikes for our whole family from this shop in 2019. The salespeople we dealt with were very knowledgeable and helpful. Cut to 2020, our bike rack fails and we end up dragging those 4 new bikes across the Throggs Neck Bridge. We brought them back and asked that they be repaired within a week because we had a camping trip planned (and camping is no fun without bikes!). Eric, the repair person came in at 6:30 am to make sure our bikes were fixed in time. When I offered to tip, I was told, "Just pay it forward." I bought a bicycle here today. I waited while the bike was adjusted and the accessories were attached. The bike was then placed in my SUV. I got home and did a test drive in my driveway. The brake was rubbing against a tire. I called the store and asked what to do (although the bike was supposed to have been adjusted). I was on the phone with someone while he told me to look for this and that. Then, as if I am an idiot, he tells me that if it is a clicking noise I am hearing, that is normal. I had said several times that the brake was rubbing against the front tire. I could hear it and feel the resistance.I sent him pictures, had my son come outside and do the lifting and turning of the tires, etc. Crazy. Never got it fixed. They should have had someone take the 10 minute drive up to my house and remedy the situation. Terrible service! read more

He has been a cyclist since he was a teenager and has a breadth of experience that is difficult to accomplish and uncommon in most bike shops. They have tuned up and repaired my bikes and have done a superb job each and every time. The mechanics, from their apprentice wrenches to the old timers, love on your bike I've bought mountain bikes from them and they took time to ensure it was the right bike and set up perfectly. I've been to quite a few bike shops in Westchester, and this is my favorite. It's not shoddy and it's not pretentious, it's just down to earth helpful. I first visited the shop to buy a road bike, and they gave me all the info I needed without getting pushy about selling it. I looked around on the internet for the same bike, and the pricetag at the shop was as low as I could find it anywhere. The new bike came with a really detailed 1-hr fitting, and after years of cycling I've come to appreciate even the slightest adjustments in lengths and angles. I've had to bring a few bikes in for tune-ups since and their price and timing is very reasonable. The shop is very spacious, with a nice variety of clothes and accessories nicely organized. Prices are pretty standard, you can probably find better deals online but then you don't get to try things on. My only problem with Bicycle World is that I always seem to think of going on Sundays or Mondays, and those happen to be the only days they are closed. Bike Doctor!! It does not matter if you are buying your first bike or your 10th or just need it serviced. It is worth the trip to Bicycle World. Yes the selection of bikes and apparel is great and the prices are very competitive. But if you are putting a lot of miles on your bike (old or new) then a visit to Co-Owner Eric Marcos is worth the time and investment. Eric understands the dynamics between the human body and the bike. He refit my bike, made suggestions to my riding routine and then followed up with an email to make sure I had the routine down on paper. My issues have been solved thanks to Bicycle World. First of all I don't understand why everyone is giving it 5 stars second of all I went there to buy grease to grease my bearings and the fat bald guy with glasses checked out my bike for me to see if the bearings just needed to be greased or if they were broken and he saw my front tire was put on backwards so he put his legs over the tire to hold it in place and he moved my handle bars that were still tightened to align right with the tire and he stripped my bolt inside my headset and all I had was money for the grease so now I can't get it fixed read more

You just can't find a better shop, period. Eric and Ilene have owned the shop for over 25 years and their passion for cycling is apparent as soon as you walk through the door. The shop is well stocked with a wide variety of bikes, accessories, parts and gear to suit whatever your next cycling adventure may be. Bike path, century or touring ride they'll fix you up. Eric does a fantastic job with all fittings. He will help you bond with your machine better than you could imagine. Just plan in advance because he's normally booked up a few weeks in advance. I used to live in the area but work has pulled me away. In all my travels I have not found a shop with staff quite like the folks here. Because of this I will always return to them for my cycling needs and advice. Just flew up from FL to pickup a new bike. Being "newbies" to the bike world everything was overwhelming and I was scared we were going to make a wrong decision on what to get. Ben at bicycle world is great. I have a different take on Bicycle World. I bought a Felt bicycle there in 2007 or 8, and paid more than $1,200. I liked the bicycle and the way Eric, the owner, was patient in fitting me (initially he didn't do it correctly and it was hurting my hip). But the bicycle twice broke at the derailleur hanger and I had to bring it in to get fixed. The second time, Eric charged me for fixing this part that was defective. I didn't think that was right and I told him so and he reduced the charge. Recently, the bicycle frame broke at the back fork right next to the hanger. Eric said Felt would honor the warranty and that I could either have an aluminum frame free of charge or a Felt full carbon bicycle. He told me that Felt would honor $1200 to the $1650 charge of the full carbon frame and I said go ahead with the full carbon frame. But when I got up there to pick up the bike, Eric and his wife, who also owns the shop, were charging me $1250 for the bike, in addition to $150 component conversion fee (which I knew about) and a change of cables, a new front derailleur and a shipping fee (another $100 that I didn't know about). I should have gotten the offer in writing. Because here I was expecting to pay $450 plus the $150 for the labor=$600, but instead the bill came out to close to $1700. I was stuck. I couldn't ask Eric to give me the aluminum bike now because they had done all the work in converting the new full carbon bike. Eric said he'd take off the $150 labor charge and then his wife took off about $50 more, but I still ended up paying $1342. That's a whopping fee and i called up Felt and they said the aluminum frame that I could've gotten for free was worth $850 so I'm wondering why Eric didn't put the $850 to the cost of the full carbon frame instead of just $400? What also upset me is his wife upon charging me said, "We're washing our hands with you." Here I had spent more than $2700 at their bike store, had bought two bikes in three-four years and she's being rude to me. I own a yoga studio and I would never treat a customer like this, especially since there was a mis-communication in how much the warranty would apply to new bike. I don't like the fact that Bicycle World charged me more for repairs than they quoted me and that I only received $400 to a new frame when my bike that I bought from them and was under warranty, cracked within four years. read more

I purchased a beautiful road bike here last summer. I was completely impressed by the fitting process, which was perfomred by the owner, Eric. The fitting is a two visit process in the included both measurements of my body and also Eric's analysis and adjustment of my pedaling and posture while on my new bike (mounted onto a stationary trainer). He was professional and expert. Fitting is the reason to purchase a bicycle from a shop, and I think it would be hard to find another shop with a fitting person as experienced and knowledgable as Eric. read more

I most appreciate that the team at Bicycle World is really committed to helping its customers make the right decision, whether its for a new bike that's right for them, the right kind of service or replacement parts, or even the proper fitting clothes. They're a great shop for racers and for beginners, and all in-between. I started going there when I got back into cycling and they've been my 'support team' as I've progressed to racing. Given the bike wear from constant training and racing, and my tight schedule, I've really appreciated their responsiveness when I needed help. On the other side of the spectrum, they've also been the source of a few new bikes in recent years for my kids -- they have a great selection for them too. This place is amazing...I was doing a 75mile bike tour, and on mile 68 I was going down a hill and my left brake literally popped! The most professional service and shop around. I bought my bike from BW 12 years ago but have not been back in the store for the last six years. When I walked in last week it was as if I was a regular dropping big bucks on a regular basis. Eric and Eilene remembered my name and I received first class service all the way. Their knowledge and willingness to make sure everything is the best it can be for you is really their main priority.
