Bad customer service. I have been into mountain biking for at least 15 years. Had couple of broken spokes on my jump stumper evo. Took the front wheel to the Bikeland (New to TX MTB). While I understand they wanted to sell me a new front wheel, the service person/sales said " not sure if I have a wheel as nice as the one you have". He brought me one that was thinner, flimsy etc... I told him then, I only wanted to replace the broken spokes. He went inside and came back saying the tech said they can't fix it because of liability. I left lmao. Ordered the spokes will fix the bike myself along with my other 2 bikes. No need to be a customer of Bikeland. read more

When I went to their website, found a tire (CST Thumper) I wanted. Their price was higher than others online but I wanted a tire quick so I decided to drive over. Traffic sucked for whatever reason today but I finally got there only to hear, "We don't have that tire." I said, "According to your website, you do. I checked prior to coming." The response was, "The website isn't accurate. I don't know where it gets its data." They offered up two other tires, neither of which I liked. So I left. In the end, a huge waste of time going there today. Maybe don't have a website with options for in stock or not since it's completely inaccurate and misleading. read more

I can't figure out why this place doesn't have all 5 star reviews because we were truly blown away by the service here. I have two bikes that have been sitting in the garage for about a decade, so we brought them here after a friend recommended this place. They took the bikes back they they didn't need any major fixes, just some oil on the chain, some tightening, a new screw on the seat, air in the tires... a few little things (so, two bikes... they spent well over half an hour fixing them up). When we tried to pay them, they wouldn't charge us anything. We ended up buying something little just to support them, but we will absolutely be buying our next bikes here. read more

Go see Logan. We stopped by about a week and half ago interested in a specialized bike. Now I will say we went to other bicycle shops and while some are good (sun and ski) and bad (bike lane) this place rocks. I don't know about the other staff that works there or the owner but I will say Logan was great. He took the time to explain to me and my wife with our two little kids running around about the different models etc. There is very few people that truly have a passion and actually live by it helping others with their knowledge. Had a great experience here today and purchased a specialized dolce bike!! I was in need of advice on purchasing the right bike.. The guy that helped me was amazefest.. He was extremely kind and patient and helpful, also had a good sense of humor. He made sure I had the proper necessities (as opposed to pressuring me to buy the most expensive of everything and judging me for not wanting to). He showed me how to attach my bike rack and fix a flat.. Just really great customer service! I left the bike store feeling no regrets our doubts about my purchase! A very credible place! I took a bike tire in this place to get a new tube and tire. I physically brought the wheel into the store. They gave me the wrong size tire and tube, it took the consensus of two people to get me the wrong parts. Tried to put it on at home, it didn't fit. I went back up there later that week, I was very slow to be helped, probably because I wasn't a yuppie buying a $1,000 bike, but whatever, no big deal. This time I got the right tire, but they still gave me the wrong sized tube. THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG PARTS, TWICE!!! I've never had a bike shop screw up that much, I just want to ride my dang bike. I hate to write a negative review of a local business, but while I have been pleased with help at this shop, I am very displeased about a gift card I received. It seems their machine is not operating and while I have made three trips to the store to try and use my card, even the manager says it can't work and they don't know when it will be repaired????!! The suggestion is that I call before I come again to see if it is working. Since they already have the money from the gift card, you would think they would not make a customer call and return. It seems there must be a better solution - like take the card, give the customer the merchandise and process the card when your equipment is working. Seems like a no brainer to me - but here I am with an unused gift card. Very disappointing. read more

We made an appointment to get a "tune up" on my 4 or 5 year old $800 Townie EQ bicycle. Brought it in and paid $133. for the work. Got new chain, brake pads, kickstand and it was looking way better when I brought it home, but the first ride revealed that the back fender was missing an important bolt up under the seat area, and the fender was bouncing around very loose. I called the shop & was transferred to the maintenance manager, who listened to the issue and abrupty told me that he did not take the fender off so it was not his problem?! He admitted to working on my bike but acted very put off that I would report a missing bolt. His unprofessional style was way out of line. He said - bring it back in, "i can't fix it over the phone" wow. Such attitude from his own mistake. I used a my husband's truck to take the bike back to the shop to let him finish his job. It was a quick and easy fix for a bike shop. Unfortunately - the way I was treated will remind me to find another place to buy the bike I saw in the window there, which I plan to purchase for my husband, with the $1000 price tag. read more

Normally I don't review bicycle shops because I'm a huge enthusiast but after my third horrible experience here I've changed my mind; I called Bikeland and asked them how much a standard 26" tube costs. The guy told me $5.00 I went in the same day to buy that tube but when I got there I was told it was now $8.00. After telling the employee about my earlier call some guy from the shop claiming to be the manager said "that was me you talked to, and I told you $6-10."He came out eating a bag of chips and told me that $5.00 is for a 12" tube. When I said I asked for a 26" over the phone he said there's no way he told me $5.00 and that he's not going to argue over it and I would have to pay the $8.00. There is a term for this; "Bait and Switch". And it's FRAUD. The "Manager" made no attempt to make me happy or even apologize for the confusion. Instead he just ate his doritos in front of me. Shame on the owner for promoting this guy to manager who clearly has no customer service skills and barely any communication skills. I will never step foot in this store again. And thank you Amazon for my standard 26" tube for $5.69 delivered to my door in two days. read more

DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS! I recently had a horrific experience (sadly not the first time either!) at Bike Land in Shenandoah, TX. I purchased a new $5000 road bike while living in AZ. I was in the middle of a move back to TX so I bought it and made arraignments for it to be shipped directly to Bike Land for reassembly. I also called the store to make arrangements to have the brand new handle bar replaced (swapped) with an also new, slightly narrower handle bar. Well... long story short, the owner, Jeff Chaffin, reneged on the deal his store manager had made with me and I was told that I should've bought my bike at Bike Land so he could make more money from me. He is in my opinion very unprofessional and not customer service oriented. I will never, and I mean never, spend another penny in that store or anything affiliated with the owner. I went here a couple of days ago to Talk about getting some road bikes for me and my girlfriend. Jud was awesome and answered every question I had. We talked for quite some time and even came back later that day with my girlfriend so she could look around. If I could give them 0 stars I would. All these 5star reviews must be from friends of the owner. I bought a bike from them less than 3 months ago. I've had to take it in for repair twice since because parts on the bike keep falling off. I took it in for the 3rd time and asked "Is this normal for an expensive bike like this to fall apart all the time?" Their answer, "yes". I asked, "what do I need to do, buy a bike for over $1000?" Their answer, "YES!" as the manager laughed. This demeanor made me angry and I told them I wouldn't be purchasing anything from here anymore. The manager, Mike, proceeded to take my bike off their rack where it was being fixed, refused to fix it, and told me to leave the store. When I called the store back to get the owners information, the manager, again Mike, told me verbatim, " Dude, you bought the shittiest bike we sell." I couldn't believe it. So, two things here: 1) Their bikes fall apart and they know it. These are way too expensive to be falling apart in such a short time. They want you to come back in over and over and over to buy more and more parts to fix it. 2) The service is horrible and rude. When a manager curses at a customer, there is really something wrong there. (Shows poor ownership keeping people on staff like that) Hope this helps anyone looking to purchase a bike. read more

I have been riding for about 10 years. Two years ago I fell and broke my left hip. In November 2015 I came into Bikeland looking for some help....and I got it! I had been to a number of shops and was not convinced to buy. I am 69 years and the road bike I had been riding was too aggressive for me. I am so happy with the help I received and the manager with a few changes made to a Specialized Crosstrails felt exceptionally good. So I go into this place to get my tires replaced and the guy behind the counter tells me that it will be two weeks to do this... I end up just buying the tubes tools, and tires I need to fix the two bikes myself. Turns out the tires were the wrong size and one of the tubes had a hole in it. I began attending Texas A&M University this fall and decided to get a bike for commute to and from campus from my apartment. I wasn't really sure what type of bike I should get or anything, I had been riding little huffy mountain bikes my whole life but felt like something more comfortable would be in order. The staff at Bike Land was more than helpful in providing great advice and even referred me to looking into brands they are not a vendor for, even pointing me to Bike Lane just down the road to look at some models competitive to theirs. Needless to say, the customer service was more of a selling point than the actual bike and I felt much more comfortable doing business at Bike Land. Since purchasing my bike (Electra Townie, which is an amazing bike!) I have been back to Bike Land twice, once to get a new tube (which they did in front of me, in about 5 minutes) and again to true a wheel because I had taken it off a curb at a considerable speed. Not only did they correct several mistakes after I attempted to get my bike wheel trued in College Station (Aggieland cycling) they did it for much cheaper, and even threw in a discount on the set of fenders I purchased. The folks at Bike Land know their bikes, know their business and the sure as heck know how to keep customers happy. Every time I walk in the store I feel extremely welcome, even though I'm not a road bike fanatic, and they don't talk down to me as if I am a "noob." Great store, great people. read more

I'm in the market for a tri bike, and live in north Houston. I emailed them asking what selection they have in my price range, including some of the Kestrels that I was most interested in. Never heard back from them. Decided to go and visit earlier this week, three days after the email. Stood by the tri bikes, looking them over and comparing prices. A lot of 'booming' sounds from the back, so I assume the staff was moving items around. No one ever came to assist or ask me if I needed help or had questions. Was even ready to put some money down on the Kestrel I liked. As far as I could tell, I was the only one in the store. Ended up driving a mile north to the other similarly named bike shop. Was greeted instantly, and told him I had some questions about a tri bike. He said he would notify the owner who was more of a tri bike expert. Told the owner what I was looking for and my price range. He looked me over and told me the bike he recommends and the price - which was under what I was planning to spend, $500 off the tagged price, and on a bike brand I didn't think I could afford. read more

They showed us all the bikes in the range we were interested in. Walking us through the differences and how to do gear changes and what not. I haven't biked in years.
