Came here on a Saturday night before going out for a birthday. It's a cute little spot in the neighborhood. My gf and I came in and sat at the bar and received attentive service. We ordered calamari to start. The calamari had interesting seasoning on it, it wasn't the greatest but it also wasn't terrible. For our mains, she had the rosemary lime sumac chicken and I the pistachio crusted salmon. I spent the evening eating out of her plate since the chicken was well seasoned and the flavor with the mash potatoes was delicious. I finished my salmon, not because it was great, but because I was starving. The salmon lacked flavor and I just hate when salmon tastes so fresh because it doesn't need to be this way. Starving and thirsty after our show let out at BAM, Bijan's seemed to be the only thing open in the vicinity, and it was great to be welcomed inside by the friendly staff. Good vibes from the attractively decorated interior, but I had eyes only for my G&T, which started out tasting fine but halfway through tasted weird - maybe the tonic water they used? At any rate, our server was very efficient, the food we ordered came out quickly, and we inhaled it. The best of what we ordered was the calamari, which had some interesting middle eastern spicing in the breading and the dipping sauce. The skewers were unremarkable, as was the eggplant dip and stale pitas. The salad was very good, but for some reason, it had bacon in it. Wow! What an unexpected treat. I came here for lunch on Monday with a couple of friends from out of town who were staying at the nearby Ace Hotel. I ordered the lamb stew, which was SO INCREDIBLE that I had to come here and rave about it. It was so good, that I would make an effort to come back for it. Decided to venture over after reading other Yelp reviews and to our delight, dinned during Persian New Year! The food was fantastic-sumac chicken, Persian chicken wings and ground chicken/rice dish. Our server recommended great wine/drink pairings, ginger margarita was great in addition to the Sauvignon Blanc. Wouldn't return. Nothing was really quality. I ordered the Bijan Burger thinking there would be some sort of special sauce on it. Nope just a plane old basic burger. Fries were nothing to call home about. The drinks were not quality. Labeling them as cocktails when in reality they were glorified mixed drinks (95% juice, 5% alcohol). Hungry at 9pm on a Sunday, Bijan's did not disappoint! They were one of the few late night spots open in the neighborhood so we gave it a try. We ordered a margherita flatbread, herb fries, and the eggplant and walnut dip for a lighter dinner. Our food was ready in absolutely no time, and upon walking in, I kind of wish we had dined in! The ambiance is really cute and cozy, I particularly loved the interior lighting and the overall mood. However, I was definitely not dressed for dinner so back home we went. Highly recommend trying the margherita flatbread and herb fries! The tomato sauce used on the flatbread was super flavorful and the portion is really generous, it can easily be split between two people. Same goes for the herb fries! The eggplant and walnut dip was pretty good with a really generous portion of pita bread packaged with it, but I would try a different eggplant dish next time with a little more flavor! Just a small pet peeve of mine, but they used a lot of plastic packaging for our to-go order. I would love it if to-go orders were packaged more sustainably! Overall, Bijan's is pretty tasty and I love that they are open late, because this is NYC dammit! I definitely foresee future visits for brunch or more late night plates of herb fries. :) read more

Been meaning to visit this neighborhood favorite for a while now and I finally made it for Sunday Brunch. Fist of- they have a fireplace! So cozy to walk in on a cold rainy Sunday. Their decor is rustic and homey. Very welcoming. The tables seemed to be a decent size- not too big or not too small just right for the space. The restaurant offers a prefix menu that comes with either coffee or tea, a drink and an entrée all for the price of $20 which I think is a great deal for this neighborhood. The prefix menu was pretty extensive and very accommodating to vegetarians (as I am). I ordered a coffee, drink called Persian kiss and the Persian omelette. The coffee came first, it was pretty decent, nothing to rave about but also nothing to complain about. The Persian kiss was delightful and in my opinion original as I've never had a proseco with pomegranate juice before. The Persian omelette came with a side salad. I had requested an egg white omelette instead of regular eggs and the restaurant was able to accommodate my request. The omelette was delicious. Just the right amount of sweet and salty as a Persian omelette should be. Side salad was fresh and crunchy just like I like it. Overall a great restaurant and a neighborhood gem. read more

Great place for after work happy hour. Happy hour special $2off wines, $7 for cocktails and $5 beer. Food, the menu seems to include a bit of everything. We had the margarita and the spicy shrimps flat breads. Tasted pretty good, with plenty of sauce and very thin, but it didn't feel fresh out of the oven, the cheese was not melted. Probably the waitress too long to bring it to the table, as the food took a long to come out. It did came out all together. Fries were good, thinly cut, i didn't care for the truffle ones. While I do love the food at Bijans, my recent visit with my party of 8 was not as great as my previous visits. The food service was excellent and it was good vibes. I highly recommend the Sumac chicken still. My bestfriend ordered the bijan burger and the buns arrived black/Burnt we had to send it back. However, I just want to mention that the waitress dropped the candle onto my hand and jacket. Hot wax dropped on my hand, all over my jacket and my friend's leggings & shoes. All we received was an apology, nothing in our meal was comped and the chairs were not wiped off. We had to clean up the mess ourselves. This definitely ruined the entire experience and now I have a ruined jacket, my friend has ruined pants/shoes. Had the wax stayed on my hand longer it would of left a mark. It tasted okay but I probably won't order it again. The Lamb Burger was delicious though -- perfectly cooked, juicy, and with a generous serving of thin cut sweet potato fries. Please discontinue the HORRIBLE comedy nights on Wednesday. All the men who performed were all genuinely TERRIBLE. The discomfort was so palpable inside, everyone asked to sit outside but we couldn't because it was full. No one laughed except for the other men performing and supposedly one of the performer's girlfriends, who also looked like she was in pain. Please stop. Note: This review is NOT of the entire establishment but rather of a single employee, Teo, who was acting as both the waiter and bartender today. I want to make this point clear because it is unfair to speak poorly of the owner and others (i.e. good employees) for the action of one. I usually only write reviews when impressed of a service as a sign of appreciation. Whenever my experience is subpar, I usually keep it to myself. However, my experience at Bijan's today was so distasteful, I felt not sharing would be a disservice to others. Everything in the beginning was normal: asking for a table, being seated, receiving menus, etc. Things took a turn for the worst, however, after my date received her drink and she politely requested it to be re-made due to her original request not being fulfilled. I understand it is never ideal to remake a drink so the waiter showing frustration is something I can let go. But coming back to the table after Googling how to make the drink (he communicated this to us later), asking my date "how many ounces of x, y, and z ingredient" she wanted (disregarding what she told him twice), and cutting her off repeatedly (preventing her from explaining it again) was completely unacceptable. If that wasn't enough, he comes back with a glass less than half full, slams it on the table, and says sarcastically "Here you go" while walking away. Many people I know would have walked away at this point. I believe in karma so I went inside to pay. He took this as an opportunity, unfortunately, to communicate more insincere and sarcastic comments. I've worked in customer service before and I know how difficult it can be dealing with different customers and different requests day in and day out. Having said that, disrespecting the customer by ignoring their request, cutting them off from speaking, and slamming glasses on the table is never OK. Again, this review is not to speak poorly of the establishment but to highlight the disgusting behavior of one individual. There are thousands of restaurants in NYC so crossing one off the list isn't a big deal for me. I only hope for future customers, your experience is better than mine. read more

This place needs to be on every "best of Brooklyn" list if only for the gracious service. The bartenders and waitress were all great! We just popped in for a round but there were regulars there who obviously returned for the warm rapport and conversation. Pete had a negroni and I had a glass of wine. We shared truffle fries and I asked the girl to bring mayo with the fries (only God can judge me). The fries were really truffle-y! The wine was great but I should have gotten beer; they have many great beers. The spot is small and they only have one toilet. It's a good first date spot or a spot to have a drink at the bar alone. Bijan's has been on my friendly neighborhood bookmarks since I moved to the area, so I suggested we try it out when my cousin stopped by for dinner. I think my expectations were a little off the mark from the get-go because I was expecting something very Persian and a more traditional restaurant. I didn't realize that Bijan's started as a bar, hence the giant TV playing football above our heads. It seemed to conflict with the semi-bohemian vibe I had gotten when we walked in, but most of the guests seemed more interested in the food and conversation anyway. We started off with the Flower Bomb and Lolita cocktails, and both went for the Lamb Burger with sweet potato fries. My Flower Bomb was floral and a bit heady. I actually enjoyed my cousin's Lolita a little more; the cucumber was strong and refreshing. I'm not sure what I was expecting from the lamb burger, but it was just... a burger. Nothing special about it, just a solid lamb burger on a bun with lettuce and onion. Maybe I was expecting some fun sauces or explosive flavor or something? It was cooked well, but no real wow factor. Next time I would definitely add some kind of cheese (it didn't come with any on!). The sweet fries, on the other hand, were perfectly thin and crispy -- my favorite. The service was great and it's a sweet atmosphere for a meal, but the food was overall just OK on our visit. Stopped by on my way to an appointment. Bijan, pronounced Bee-zhan, meaning "hero," is a cute spot. The decor is retro with great paintings and plants lined above. Along with other eye-catching. nuances. Sitting there I imagined someone's living space. It's a personable. I like that! The dimensional wood is a winner too. There is bar seating & dine-in seating to the right & the middle has bench seating, as well as to the back where there are a couple of steps up to seat dinner table style. Family time! What a great concept on breaking bread. The bartender was really nice, welcoming & attentive. He had on really cool shorts too with a great hue tee. I think the owner was on premise & was friendly & welcoming as well. I met two friendlies. One was a naturopathic & the other into Reiki. Very cool! For lunch I had a Bijan & Persian Spiced Chicken Wings. The Bijan had a licorice taste & pretty to boot. The chicken was good, but I could do spicer. All in all, still good. This nugget also has cozy outside seating if you're interested. On a Friday or Saturday, I can see this place buzzing. I'll stop by to confirm. I ordered their lamb burger and my partner the Kaabab and it was on the low end of it . I ordered some Persian soup and it was incomplete . You can find much better burgers elsewhere.I don't see any reason why someone would want to come here . I'm not sure what kind of restaurant this is . The service is ok nothing special . It's really hard to find decent Persian spots . I def wouldn't come back as everything on the menu you can find somewhere else that is much better, more authentic and cheaper . Came here for my friend's birthday. It was a cute intimate restaurant with a black and white movie playing in the background which I thought was pretty good. I ordered the hanger steak with truffle fries. I absolutely loves the fries but it could've used a little more truffle. The hanger steak was good but it wasn't extraordinary. The price was pretty worth it for what I had. It was $24 for my dish. My friends also ordered the steak and agreed it was 3 stars. The chicken wings were pretty good. They had an Asian zing to it. The fried calamari looked okay, I didn't get to have any. The Prosecco drink that I had was really good! I forgot what it had in it but that was really good. Hoyt Street by Atlantic Avenue is one of my favorite little strips in Boerum Hill and a huge breath of fresh air from the overwhelming Fulton Mall. I use to work in the area and would stop by Bijan's for lunch. I love the array of Persian lanterns hanging over the bar and the multi colored bar stools are adorable. The place has a variety of seating from a little high up cozy window spot to family style sitting or a romantic table for two by the baby fire place. My favorite spot to sit at would definitely be at the bar and away from the window. Now you know so if I come in you better move out of my seat. The super sweet tattooed mixologist William kills it in the cocktail department. All you have to do is name your poison, mine is always gin and he will mix you a cocktail for your specific taste buds. I love to come here for brunch, get a simple two eggs over medium with potatoes and toast. My brother and I brunch a lot and toast and jam are not just a side they are the cherry on top. The great thing about Bijan is that there is no jam...it's ..drum roll please..compote. I know nerdy Yelpy needs! The compote is perfectly sweetened fruit mixture and is the perfect ending to breakfast. I still have to come back and try the pancakes. They always look spectacular. I also judge a brunch spot by my water and coffee refills. William took care of both on top of my boozy brunch needs. And it doesn't hurt that he's absolutely hilarious and always in a good mood.
