Really nice to be on Bailey Island with a quaint grocery store that also makes good food. Helpful, friendly staff and it's also entertaining to be able to chat with local fisherman eating there. We've had delicious breakfast sandwiches & tasty cheese burgers, enjoyed the daily special of meatloaf too. They also make a great pepperoni pizza for takeout. Thanksgiving - time to give thanks and in Yelp World that also means reaching out to those establishments that have been exceptionally helpful. I am very grateful for the team @ BIGS for all that they do for my mother. She is 89, and a frequent diner/shopper @ BIGS. They totally get her, they help her and regardless of whether it is breakfast time or not, she usually can get her favorite breakfast sandwich. Those who run the store - both cooking, serving, and cashiering are really great - to her and to all of the Island inhabitants who spend time in the comfy ambiance of friends and family. read more

I've stopped by BIGS over the years and grabbed things like drinks or snacks but never ordered anything off the menu. The other weekend I was staying at a motel within walking distance and we decided to go grab a breakfast sandwich. The owner is always so friendly and chatty when you go in, you instantly feel welcomed. We got a fantastic sausage egg and cheese on an English muffin to split and my fiancé had a coffee which he said was good. In the past I have tried a couple of their baked goods, they make a great chocolate chip cookie and once I was lucky enough to get a blueberry scone (I've stopped numerous times just to see if they have any, and I haven't had any luck since!) It's a great little place to stop if you're driving by or if you have the pleasure of staying on Bailey Island. They have a great variety of snacks, drinks, beer, wine and a good looking menu of basics like pizza and such. This will always be a place we stop when we're on the islands! read more

We were staying down the road and stopped into the store for Breakfast, really good Breakfast sandwiches, and friendly staff. We went leave and our RV would not start. I went to the store to see if they had a Key Fob battery.... The young man working was so helpful, searching for the battery. We finally decided there was none to be found, but a Women that was shopping said she had one at home, she went home and got it for me. Another Man gave me a ride back to the RV and made sure we got going. We were able to get our RV started and were not stranded.... The folks in this town are amazing and we appreciate everything that everyone did..... We wish we had gotten their names so we could thank them proper. Bob and Kerri Vlk read more

Really good food. Our first takeout, after quarantining as the town requested. At 5:15, only 3 of 12 entering were wearing masks, including a family wit kids. Those preparing food were unmasked. Sadly, won't be back til it feels safer. Returned weeks later to check things out. One of two employees masked; she was preparing the food. Most cars had out of state plates, but all customers were masked. This has long been a favorite place of ours...sure wish we could count on employees to mask for us, as we do for them. read more

We vacation on Bailey Island every summer, and ALWAYS eat several meals at BIGS... The staff is super friendly and the food and prices are great. Steak and cheese, Reubens (turkey or pastrami) and lobster rolls are fantastic, as are the breakfast sandwiches and blueberry pancakes. Went into this store on a Wednesday to pick up some soda's for the wife, ended up staying for a egg salad sandwich, meatball sub and a cheese pizza. Was 100% surprised by how good the food was. My wife said the egg salad was the best she ever had! Which hurt my feelings because I thought mine was the best. The Meatball sub had great flavor and they definitely didn't skimp on the meatballs. The Cheese pizza wasn't the best I've ever had but it was pretty dang good. The staff was extremely friendly and I felt right at home. Would recommend this place to anyone. read more

If you are in town, you need to make BIGS a destination! I Love it here, the locals are always a hoot! The humor is dry Maine chatter! The sandwiches and coffee are pleasantries that I tend to gravitate towards. They have all the necessities; milk juice, beer, wine, and solid grub! They have local wares, although they are limited due to Land's End gift shop being located up the road a bit. Great view of island living Out of the seating area Windows. Good luck getting a spot, ha! It is not that busy, but the locals do like to gather for local chatter and honest grape vining. read more

Its a basic general store with wine (of course) so if you forget something on your way to the island, then stop here! They also serve prepared food, but as in you have to eat it there. I don't think they get many people who take out, but their baked beans were delicious. read more

Spent our 50th anniversary in the Bailey Island week of June 8, 2018 . This was the best place to have breakfast in the Bailey Island area. Everyone, owner, cook and local regulars all especially welcoming. We definitely will return for future anniversaries hopefully 50 more. read more

I love, love, love BIGS!! Just having a general store made me happy thinking of the 'good ole days'. Then I entered and felt like I was home. Every one was friendly. Good selection of items considering their size. Food was very good. As a matter of fact, while I was on Bailey Island, we ate a Cooks (first and last time). I would have rather eaten at BIGS. We ate breakfast a couple of times last week at BIGS and is was very good. When we received our order one morning, it was missing ham and bacon, when we told the cook he said no problem, it wasn't written on the ticket but he would make them for us right away and he did! We do not have a lot of choices on the islands, but BIGS is often more than a life saver when I need milk, other essentials, or just do not want to cook.
