Doron was honest and practical about the ideas I gave. He incorporated my idea and executed it beyond my expectations. Through the demolition to completion he had quick communication. If there is something you don't like he will make the changes and not pressure you into his ideas. I ended up getting a full front yard remodel, upgraded garage door, exterior paint with some wood removal and stucco application. The cost of my project was on the higher side, but you get his design skills, patience, understanding, project alterations, and openness. My interactions with him mirrored the energy of a good friend.. Very easy to talk to. When you choose Value Crafters know they work fast! Which is a good thing just have your project cost already set aside to meet the payment schedule. I would work with them again.

Mike and the team at Elevation 92 just wrapped up a large home renovation for me. The renovation…read moreinvolved all new flooring throughout the entire house, all new paint, a redesigned fireplace, redesigned stairway, a down to the studs kitchen remodel (which included a La Cantina pass through window to the backyard), removal of one wall, and a powder room remodel. We remodeled this house from out of town, so that added an extra level of complication. We were really happy with Mike and his team. He referred us to a designer, that we loved. He sourced and managed almost all of the trades that came through and they were excellent. This was our first home, and our first remodel. I have heard horror stories about remodels gone wrong, and we were so lucky to have found Elevation 92. The only minor headaches we had were supply chain related, and that can't be helped. 2 examples that I think show Mike's character and what it is like working with him: 1. There was a miscommunication over the automatic blinds that came with the house. We wanted to keep them, but some were misplaced or damaged during demo. When we raised this with Mike he immediately said he would cover the cost to repair or replace. I didn't have to ask, it was just a given that he would do this. I really appreciated this. 2. There was one small part of some touch up work that I was not 100% happy with. It was not up to the standard of the rest of his work (which was excellent). I expressed my concerns, and Mike had a different team come in and fix it. There were no denials or excuses, he just fixed it. We have additional work we will be doing on the house next year and we will definitely using Mike and his team.

The breadth of their knowledge and experience ranges from ground up new construction to every sub-category of construction on the spectrum for the simplest of renovation to the most daunting. Interior and Exterior, they have done it all for me to the highest quality. I have been in the investment property business for 20+ years and have worked with a myriad of GC's and sub-contractors. Many have been very painful to work with lack luster results. I am a big believer in doing business with people who do what the say they will do, show up when they say they will, have pride in their results, and attention to detail, warranty their work, offer complete transparency in pricing, contracts, and business dealings, complete projects on time, and have excellent communication throughout the entire process. In our experience, waterproofing a deck in San Diego can initially appear successful because of our…read moregenerally mild weather. In our case, however, two unusually heavy storms revealed serious problems with Medrano's work. After a lengthy dispute-resolution process involving Medrano's attorney, while we represented ourselves, Medrano ultimately agreed to remove and replace both of our decks at no fault of theirs, and at no cost to us. It was established that the original installation did not meet the required fire-rating specifications and had several defects, including missing fire blocking, water intrusion, and a drain pipe that was not connected -- despite many emails from Medrano stating that the installation met the manufacturer's specifications. The manufacturer had to step in and agree it didn't meet their standard, therefore would not be covered under their warranty. The manufacturer was amazingly supportive throughout this entire process, and their product is among the best in the industry. The second installation was a vast improvement, but it still had deficiencies. Medrano again disputed that every issue was a deficiency. The California State License Board became involved and formally cited Medrano for failure to build to industry standards. That citation is a matter of public record. Medrano stated by email that it would perform no more additional work, and left their bonding company and insurance company having to ensure completion and pay for damages caused to the unit below. I would also caution customers to be very careful with change orders. In our case, Medrano attempted to require us to agree to all change orders, including things such as internal painting, before they would complete any of the change-order work. These communications are documented in writing. Also note that fire-rated decking requires fire blocking, not structural blocking, or the use of tongue-and-groove plywood. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Medrano for deck waterproofing work. In our experience, Medrano's most troubling issue was not the defective work but the repeated refusal to take responsibility for it until outside pressure became necessary. If they respond to this review, I would encourage readers to compare their response with the documented facts, including the CSLB citation and the written communications regarding the unresolved work.
