Food was frozen, staff don't make sure you get everything you pay for. Seems like it needs a lot of work here. Very disappointing.

If you like coffee grounds in your fruit smoothie this is the place to go. Over priced and orders are only correct 50% of the time

My friend ordered the Cubano sandwich and loved it, and another friend had the avocado toast with egg salad on sourdough, which was thoughtful, fresh, and elevated far beyond the usual café fare. The service was amazing...warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. This is way above average, intentional food made by people who truly care. Easily a must-stop in Door County.

Very cute place with some really interesting food with lots of vegetarian options but also lots of meat based dishes as well. I tried the Banh Mi and it was amazing. Its 5-spice marinated grilled pork, pickled daikon & carrot, cilantro, cucumber, Sriracha-lime mayo, on rustic roll. Lots of flavor and the pork was very tender and had great flavor. I also tried the soup of the day which was smoked ham with mushrooms and was very full of flavor. My wife ordered an Asian bowl with tofu and it was loaded with tons of fresh vegetables in a spicy asian broth. She loved it and it was served warm and was a huge serving. Very nice find and can't wait to go back in the Summer to check out the patio and the breakfast options.

Met up with a friend for brunch at Morning Star recently. It was my first time visiting and I was…read moreexcited since breakfast/brunch is my favorite meal to order out! There was a bit of a wait but they have a little area to sit and browse the menu. The place is cozy and homey, a bit crowded but not too bad. Our server was really helpful and kind. I ordered a coffee, and they have alcoholic options if you'd like a bloody mary, spiked coffee, mimosa, etc. I liked that they brought me my own little carafe for the table. We ordered a blueberry pancake for the table, and I got the tree hugger (zucchini, yellow squash, tomato, mushroom, baby spinach, black beans, and cheese, served over diced redskin potatoes. I also added eggs. The pancake was fluffy and sweet, and very large which was great for us to split. I really wanted some vegetables so I was very happy with the tree hugger. It was cheesy and warm, and all the veggies were delicious. I added some hot sauce which made it perfect! My friend got the breakfast burrito which looked really good. I'm glad I got to try this spot and would come back! They do have a lunch menu during the week as well (it said lunch items are limited on weekends).

This is a local favorite. But if you're not local, let me give you a review…read more I have mixed feelings about this place. First off let me point out that there is no private parking lot for this place. This is no big deal if you're from a bigger city like GR, Chi or NYC. But if you're from a smaller town like Muskegon, Coopersville or Fremont where every business has their own private lot this might be a major inconvenience to you. park across the street or on the street if you can find a spot. I was patronizing MSC on a very cold day. This old location has no air lock on the front door, so everytime it opens to let customers exit or enter....the cold air rushes in. Keep that in mind when choosing your table. The restaurant has a warehouse feel to it, similar to the Blue Porch on Beacon Blvd. If you like that style....great. If not you have to deal with acoustics, and a cold drafty feeling, especially in the Winter. Food was actually in line with other restaurants in town unless you want to start getting fancy with the "specials." Believe me, those specials are very popular. Especially the waffle/pancake dishes that are similar to a super sweet dessert at 2000 calories. The last time I was there, the server was friendly, but because of the layout of the dining room, they have a hard time keeping an eye on the tables. So getting a coffee refill or a request for something becomes a waiting game. Overall the food is presented very well and is tasty.

It's part cafe, part bookstore, part wine bar, and part entertainment venue. Most important thing is the coffee is good. Then the show goes sideways, no it sinks quickly with no hopes of recovery after trying on my side. For the record, the musicians on Friday were entertaining and filled the evening with good tunes. Store does live music Thursday night thru Sunday night. Slept on this review to try to be kind, even the song last night told me to be kind. Waited in line and watch some Barista Ninja make coffee orders and then vanished on our turn. Let's be honest to customers, if you are not the coffee maker warn them!!! Ordered and then he grabbed a bakery item from the chilled case, he was done with me. Then looked at me and said "anything else?". Yep, sure is, he just took my order and forgot, .... was just waiting on my drinks. Then had to tell him what drinks, he then read from a printed off instruction sheet like it was a calculus quiz. On 2nd drink he literally pulled an ice cold cup from the pastry case, which from my view I hoped it came from under it. NOPE. He handed me drinks and as I walked my knuckles were chilled by the cup. Hopeful, I asked husband to tell me if his was hot. NOPE, so mine was a iceberg and pretty sure he royally messed it up as it now is my worst latte in my life (100% coffee could not ever be worse). Yes, worst. I walked back, he looked at me like I was lost, told him they are cold. He stood firm on looking at me with no apologies and I said again they are cold. Still, a look of what you want me to do lady. I put my finger in my drink and said these are cold, just microwave them. They were busy and felt that was fair. Think microwave setting on my chilled cup was 15 seconds. I took them to the table and one sip and blah, chilly and worse latte ever, pretty sure it was 80% milk and a splash of flavoring. The tall male faux barista should be banned from the coffee area. *believe your customer *if you can't make something - don't *coffee cups should not be kept chilled *apologize when you get it wrong

The space strikes that perfect balance between cozy and modern--warm lighting, comfortable seating, and just enough background music to create ambiance without making it hard to have a conversation. It feels like somewhere you can settle in with a book, meet a friend, or get a few hours of work done without feeling rushed. What truly elevated my experience, though, was the service--especially Taylor. It's rare to come across someone who is both genuinely warm and highly attentive without being intrusive. Taylor greeted me with a friendly, welcoming energy and took the time to walk me through the menu when I mentioned I wanted something comforting but slightly different from my usual order. Their recommendation and enthusiasm felt authentic, not scripted, which made a big difference. I ended up ordering the raspberry chai, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The chai itself was beautifully spiced--rich notes of cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and a subtle kick of ginger. The raspberry added a bright, slightly tart sweetness that complemented the warmth of the spices instead of overpowering them. The flavor balance was impressive; it wasn't overly sweet, and you could tell the ingredients were thoughtfully combined. It had a smooth, creamy texture and was served at the perfect temperature. Honestly, it was one of the most unique and well-crafted drinks I've had in a long time. Beyond my own experience, I noticed how attentive the staff was with other customers--checking in, remembering regulars, and maintaining a clean, welcoming space. The atmosphere feels community-oriented and intentional. You can tell this shop cares about quality, both in what they serve and how they treat people. Between the exceptional service from Taylor and a raspberry chai I'm still thinking about, this coffee shop has officially earned a spot in my regular rotation. If you're looking for a place with standout drinks and genuinely kind staff, this is it. Highly recommend.
