I'll be honest- our experience here was rough…read more Was the food good? Yes. The coffee? Also good. The issue was how long it took for them to fulfill our orders. We ordered 3 hot beverages... a hot chocolate, a breve latte with sugar free vanilla and a normal vanilla latte. We sat inside the cafe for nearly 30 minutes before our drinks were ready, surrounded by other grumpy customers. We overheard the shop saying they were closing early because they cannot handle the load of orders... the place was busy, but nothing different than your typical coffee shop on a Saturday morning. (See photos for reference) Overall, if you're in a hurry this isn't the place for you. But, if you can afford to wait 20-30 minutes for your coffee then no harm in trying them out.

I've been to a lot of coffee shops in nearby cities and big cities around the country and Sozo's is just as good if not better than any I've visited. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the environment is really laid back, with lots of space to sit and work or meet with friends, coworkers, or classmates. They source their own beans, and make their own baked goods in house. I'll often order their drip cause it's so good, but I also love their pour over, the Nutty Irishman, or just a plain Cortado. And I always keep their beans on hand for home. Please visit, enjoy, and support Rodney and Mindy and this small/local business!

Went to Mudpenny for the first time for brunch. Decent crowd on a Saturday. Opted for the Kevin…read moreMalone instead of the Brunchwrap and I think that was the right choice. Burrito is packed full of hash browns, crispy bacon, sausage, egg, and cheese. The only downside to the Kevin Malone is that they use spinach instead of like a chopped lettuce for the burrito and the texture is a little overpowering. Plus, they don't chop the stems off the spinach, so I'd either order it without or pick some pieces out. I feel like the Brunchwrap has a thicker layer of it and as much as mixing in a green is smart, it has to be prepped properly in my opinion. Patatas bravas as a side were fire. The potatoes were roasted and seasoned well. It advertised a garlic aioli, but we did not get that. As with San Chez's patatas bravas, ask for the sauce on the side. It is a very good side of potatoes compared to the thinly, oddly sliced potato slices that came with the breakfast sandwich. They looked like apple slices and were sort of wet and soggy like them too. Nitpicking their spinach prep and refining their side dish of potatoes are really the only notes if someone from Mudpenny is actually reading this and got this far. Great breakfast spot and service was spot on.

Had a late breakfast there this week that I thought might turn into lunch given how long it took to get the food out of the kitchen. Waitress never checked in with us during our long wait. My associate ordered the salmon plate with porches eggs. The eggs came out hard-boiled, and then staff was rude when he asked that the eggs remade. And like the original order, the poached eggs took forever to get out of the kitchen and were cold when they arrived. I Had the avocado toast, which should be delicious. Theirs is not--poorly conceived with flavors that do not meld likely the result of avocado paste versus fresh, massed-with-chunks avocados. The egg white omelet, which is pretty tasty, looks like a mess when it arrives at the table. Their espresso drinks are good.

I tried the green omelette and added a side of the beef sausage. It also came with a piece of sourdough bread. The inside of the café is very cute and calming. I also ordered a hot latte with oat milk and sugar-free pistachio chocolate; that was probably the best part of my order. The food was pretty tasty, and the eggs were a large serving. The side of sausage was an extra $4, which in the future is probably not worth it. The side of bread was also unusually thin and hard to bite/chew - just not what I was expecting from sourdough. I would be interested in trying a Panini or your own next time!
