Lucas called on Thursday morning and the driver Gary H. arrived within 20 minutes. Can you remember when a contractor arrived ten minutes early? That happened. We were in the mountains 90 miles from Redding. Lucas decided a downslope pump was suitable. We did not have any fences, but our thirteen year old tank was 140 feet from the road, on a 30% slope. This was a difficult hose-pulling and laying job based on the slope and the vegetation. Everything went well. Gary was great and he completed within 45 minutes. I had no breaks in the baffling or tank, or anywhere on the property. We also spoke on the routine maintenance, and how to keep trees (and roots) away from the tank - that was helpful. Had Big Valley Sanitation pump my septic a couple years ago. My tank hasn't seen the light of day since then... until Aug, 2025. We normally service every 2-3 years so I dug up and pulled the lid to see if it might need pumping. To my surprise, I find that the inlet T baffle was busted off. I even have a picture of the last time it was pumped...baffle clearly in place. Contacted bvs and discussed this with Lucas. He said he'd run it by the owner and get back to me by days end. I never got a call back. So I contacted directly 2 days later and got a bs song and dance from Lucas, "I tried calling but it rang and rang then a busy tone." I asked if he tried a follow up. He said no with no explanation as to why. I don't mind a bit of smoke, but not when it's being blown up my a$$. Horrible, condescending, snarky attitude from Lucas. I was a business owner for decades and I would never treat my customers (or potential) in this manner. I understand bvs trying to absolve themselves of any responsibility (much time has passed...where's the proof, blah blah...) but applying a bit of logic, who would open up their septic tank within a day or two just to assure the baffle was still intact? They want to infer it was my fault. smh Most people NEVER open up their tank. There's simply no reason to. I was willing to take a "no" with absolutely no pushback. However, I can't stand for shi++y customer. Hence my review. Good job, Big Valley Sanitation. You lost a customer in me and probably several who read this review. There is a cost to these things. After I explained my problem, Lucas said he would check with his boss and call me back soon. He did not return my call so I followed up by calling him the next morning. So we are renting a room out in the boonies near Burney, and the landlord asked if we had any experience with septic. My husband recommended Big Valley to her, because although Steve was not the best person to work for, he was all about making sure his customers were taken care of. My husband had no issues with that and had continued to recommended Big Valley because he thought they were still taking care of their customers. Well, I'm beginning to wonder if Steve's retired. Hubby helped landlady dig up the lids to both sides of the tank before he went to his own job in town. Found out after he got home from work that the employee Big Valley sent was on light duty, had a swollen arm, and even needed help from the landlady to help lift the 50 pound hose from his truck to the tank. Mind you, she's not a spring chicken and has been in a bad accident so she should not be overdoing it like this, but she was worried about the employee having a stroke or something because he didn't look good at all. Turns out, Big Valley only pumped the liquid side and left the solid side untouched. When my husband worked there, Steve was adamant that both sides be pumped. Landlady called to inquire about having someone more able bodied to come back to pump the other side as they should have to begin with, and she was told she's out of luck. $600 for nothing. If you care about your seniors, and if you don't live close to Redding, I can't recommend you to take a chance on this place.. so disappointing. This company failed in just about every way possible. The customer service over the phone was rude. Despite the fact that they claimed to have pumped the septic tanks on our property at least twice before we purchased it, their maps supposedly showing the location of the septic were both wrong and mislabeled. In both cases, they had the two addresses mixed up. In one case, they showed the septic tank as 298 feet away from the house. After refusing to dig up one tank (because it was supposedly too deep), we decided to dig up both tanks ourself. While we found one quickly, we dug approximately ten holes before realizing that this septic tank was actually about 198 feet (not 298 feet) from the house. It was ironic that they offered to charge us $120/hr to dig up that tank. They would have made quite a bit of money on that job. Fortunately, we found it and decided to go with another company. That company is charging us $650 to pump two tanks as opposed to the $1100 that Big Valley wanted to charge us. I would like to think that our experience was an isolated one, but I'm hearing that it is not. read more

We had an emergency overflow our septic tank that was caught just in time. We called Big Valley Sanitation and the helpful girls immediately started working on getting us scheduled for service. She took my number and called me back within ten minutes and asked if I would be available in an hour and 45 minutes. They sent out Raul and he arrived in an hour and a half and immediately started working on locating the tank caps and started pumping out the tanks. Service was quick and Raul was very professional and courteous. Even my neighbor came over to get a first hand review and a business card from Raul. After 4 hours of waiting with no call back, I called again and representative still claims that workers are discussing about coming over. After 2 days of bothering them with the same questions, representative still has the same answer. Gave up on the dumpster company. Unfortunately, Big Valley did NOT do a great job for me -- in fact, after my initial contact, I couldn't even get them to call me back. Initially, I called them and spoke to one worker (can't recall his name) about my overflowing septic (ground water from heavy rains); he was pleasant and gave me some useful information. But when I called back the next week and left a message for him with the receptionist, I never got a return call. I called Big Valley again a few days later, and again left a message with the receptionist, but again never got a call back. Yes, it's been busy here, but really, how long does it take to make a single phone call? After the second attempt, it became clear that Big Valley had no interest in me, so I decided to look elsewhere. I'm very disappointed, to say the least, in this company's lack of customer service. First review I have ever done. Big Valley did a pump out and inspection on our property. At the end of the process I asked the lead guy who was doing paperwork how many gallons they pumped. He told me 14,000 gallons. Then the other truck driver came to where we were and verified his numbers, the lead guys did a quick re-calculation and again came up with 14000 gallons. The bill came in for 21,000 gallons. Kind of difficult to pump 21000 gallons when there wasn't 21,000 in the tanks. The maximum should have been around 12,500 as the tanks weren't even half full. I spoke to the owner about the bill. The owner told me that he asked the lead driver if he told me the amount was 14000 gallon, the lead worker told his Boss that he didn't. I said he is lying, he told me 14,000 gallons twice, the owner told me I was lying, said i'm done and hung up on me. Pretty pathetic. In addition they charged me an hourly truck charge of $280, this was for 2 hours. This charge is for their trucks sitting and drivers sitting around doing nothing waiting for the customer. This also is not true. One of their trucks had to wait maybe 45 minutes while we found and removed the lid from one of the septic tanks, this wait should have cost a little over $100, however the same lead worker told me they were not going to charge me for the wait. No honor. I'm sure they are going to respond to this review and try to justify themselves. I am sure they will make a compelling argument as a response. If you use these guys be very careful. The owner is rude and disrespectful and if you have a legitimate billing issue he will just call you a liar and hang up on you. read more

I would avoid this company if possible. They charged $545 for pumping and inspection. Operator broke corner off lid during procedure and then told me the inspection failed because of broken lid. I was told to fix and or replace the lid and then send pictures to prove lid was operable. I did that and then the owner wanted to see bottom of lid which was never damaged to begin with. I am 80 years old with a bad back and bad left arm, no way I could lift and take pictures. read more

I would not recommend this company. Do not believe their website come on that they provide professional service. They don't ! I had them come out to pump out a friend's RV. First I had to wait a week because they only come out on a route by route basis. What this means if they are not on a route in your area the day you need them you are screwed. Finally the day arrives, and the driver shows up an hour early. Without even a giving me a phone call or text. Let's see is that professional? Then he looks at my friends RV and decides which valve to open up to drain the system. He hooks up his hose to the RV and turns it on. Meanwhile I have gone inside to see if the tank is empty. I can see the waste by looking down the toilet. No change The gauge says it is full. I confront the driver with what I found. He claims the gauge is faulty. I tell him the what I saw looking down the toilet. His response is "It must be plugged up" . He then disconnects his hose and hands me three free rolls of toilet paper and leaves. After he leaves I start doing some investigating on the RV. Sure enough Big Valley's driver opened the wrong valve. Professionalism at it's best. I call the office and the gate keeper tells me the best they could do is come out next Monday or Tuesday. Its Friday. I ask her if she thought that was good customer service. She did not respond. Finally I got through the gate keeper and got to talk to the dispatcher Mr. Smith. He was less than friendly. He claimed his drivers did not know what they were doing when it came to pumping out RV's. I ask him to give me a refund and remove me from his schedule. His reply was he was never coming out to our place again. Then he added if I stopped payment he would see me in court and hung up the phone. More of their professionalism. So was left with a full holding tank and a charge for $75. Now that is professionalism. read more

Background info: called Brown Plumbing to have tank pumped at Lakehead location, told them could see liquid above tank cover. Appointment made for 2 days away between 10 AM- 2 PM. Two days later after 3 CALLS was told couldn't make it and would be SOMETIME the next day. BROWN phone person not really concerned. Went to the internet, found Big Valley. Called and 15 minutes later received a call that tech would arrive within 2 hours. Raul arrived within the timeframe and was very professional and pumped the tank. Cleaned up and went on to his next job. Oh yes, the charges were over $120 less than Brown. Note: Brown DID call to advise they MIGHT be able to come out sometime the third day and said if I needed help to call Big Valley. We had a problem with our septic tank being full, when the weather was not so good either. I told them problem with rain they said no problem and came. By the time they left they had about torn the gate off my fence and left two indentations where the dug about 3ft, round and 4 inch deep. The grass sod was gone just stone and dirt. I have been promised for approx. 3 months they would come and fix. The owner Steve has blown smoke up my rear on more than 3 occasions. As I am disabled I can't fix. horrible services. they dropped off the porta potty for our workers and never serviced it. . im in the middle of a renovation and they daid theyd servicevit every 2 weeks. thet were to show up last friday and never did. i called haley and she assured me they'd be there monday, never showed up and said tuesday, never showed up. when i talked to haley, she said forsure, wednesday and no show. she sais the driver said he couldn't get thru our gate, we dont have a gate , and promised hed be there thursday, come thursday, afternoon no show. haley said shed call me back and never did. come friday her driver made it, but took the porta potty. complete horrible serviced i paid 120 for the pp to be serviced twice a month and it was never serviced and left my workers hanging . when i called them, haley was gone and the office manager, said she was anyway, crista, assured me shed have it service friday, then when i called back, rhonda said she was the manager, and said melony was a manager. appears to me no one knows what positiom anyone has anymore , certainly not the driver. steve was supposed to call me back but never did and im sure he probably never got the message. well steve, youre company service is horrible . read more
