Cute little historic drive-in with good made to order food. The young ladies who were working were cheerful and efficient. I tried the Grippos Chicken Sandwich and Grippos fries combo (because if you're in Evansville, Grippos is a thing), my mom had fried mushrooms, and my dad tried the fish sandwich. We all thought the food was tasty, and the portion sizes were great for the price, lots of food, and not breaking the bank. The biggest drawback is that they have no public restroom. They'll direct you to the Circle K gas station across the street, but said gas station won't let you use theirs without buying something. If you're local, you're probably fine with this, but we had just arrived in town after a road trip, so this made things a touch uncomfortable. read more

The food here is not that great neither is the service. Apparently this place won a burger award? Against who? The burger I ordered was nothing shy of a backyard burger. As a matter of fact, I probably could have made a better burger on my backyard grill. The fries were nothing special either. The only reason I'm rating this place a 3 star & not 2 star is because the chicken strips my wife ordered somewhat saved my disappointment with this restaurant. Finally got over to check this little joint out for myself over my lunch break and I was not disappointed. This is a made to order sandwich and ice cream shop. They have a couple picnic tables outside where you can enjoy your food if it's a nice day and they even have a tiny picnic table for the kiddos. You walk inside and it's clear they are working on fixing the place up. They have a couple benches where you can sit inside while they prepare your food which is nice. They have a variety of sandwiches and sides such as fries and onion rings and then several different ways to get your ice cream fix. I ordered a loaded breaded tenderloin for a friend and got myself a BLT and fries. I was pretty impressed when the guy who took my order asked me if I was a nurse and then I realized I still had my badge on from work. Anyway I told him I was and he gave me a 15% discount on my food! It took just about 5-6 minutes for the food to be prepared and I grabbed the bag and headed back to work. It wasn't until I got back that I realized I got a cheeseburger instead of the BLT that I ordered. The breaded tenderloin was pretty big and looked and smelled amazing. My cheeseburger was actually quite good and while I really did have a hankering for a BLT I was quite thrilled with the burger. It had a really good grilled flavor to it. I may have been extra hungry but those fries were so good. Really crispy and salty and not overly greasy like some can be. I'll definitely be going back because I really do want to try the BLT and maybe get some ice cream as well. Highly recommend coming here! read more

I drove by this place and I was curious about it. I ordered the BLT some fries and some onion rings and even the breaded mushrooms I was so impressed with the BLT I have high standards for a simple sandwich. If any place can't make it I won't order anything else from them. They did the sandwich proud. I will be definitely returning to try more items. read more

How many places can you go these days and get a jumbo cheeseburger, family size fries, and dessert for $6 and some change?! Even McDonalds aint serving up that much food for that price. I visited Big Top on Black Friday for some dinner. I normally go to Zestos which is similar, in my opinion. I ordered the special.... You know the special on the board outside, large cheeseburger and fries for $3.48 and I made the fries a large for $.35 more. Crinkle cut fries cooked to perfection. BAM! Call that a deal. My chocolate dip top was the bomb! I'm a huge fan of the hard shell chocolate. Big Top has some of the best ice cream ever. All in all this is a good local walk up eatery. I LOVE BIG TOP! This place was close to my grandma's house, when I was growing up, and we would walk down there to get burgers, fries, onion rings and ice cream! Oh, and the best fried mushrooms! Soooo..... totally not a fan! First time here. I ordered my daughter's best friend a breaded tenderloin sandwich because she's never had one and after all... we ARE in Indiana!!! Imagine my surprise when there was no meat in the sand which. Yep... you read that right... NO MEAT! All breading. So we go back in and say... excuse me but there's no meat in the sandwich. Needless to say, they got complete attitude with us and said "There's meat there, it's just really really thin! That's the way it's suppose to be!" We were like... no.... there's no meat. Needless to say super rude! Extremely disappointed and won't be back and will NOT recommend this place to anyone! Oh and the fried mushrooms sucked big time too! Change your oil folks! Best local restaurant around! They've got amazing food for a small price, most people with extra pocket change can grab a sandwich here! I've been to this restaurant every once and a while and I'm happy to say, every time I cone here, I am pleasantly surprised! Especially with all of the options available. All in all, the Burgers are amazing, the fries are cooked PERFECTLY, and their Ice Cream and Blasters deserve a medal. read more

I have been eating Big Top since I was a little girl and it has never changed! The burgers are so good. The place hasn't changed since it was put up in the 50's. Its your classic greasy brown bag burger joint. They don't have "cherry coke", they make it by adding cherry flavoring to their soda's like in the old days. They even take call in orders. So if you need just a quick yummy burger and fries (plus the other many options they have) I recommend this place! read more

Came here for ice cream this evening and have to say I was impressed. I got a butterfinger "blaster" which contained plenty of butterfinger. Between that and the prices in general, it was worth it. this place is classic americana at its finest. walk up to the front counter and order, everything is super cheap, fried and delicious. don't expect like anything earth shattering as far as fancy menu items. it's literally fries, burgers, milkshakes, etc. there's off street parking, and outdoor picnic tables to eat at. it's in a sketchy area of Evansville though, so i probably wouldn't go there after like 8pm. read more
