Split opinion here... The food was GREAT. The service was a bit lacking. I guess they were short on workers, but that's not the customer's fault! Our server was also working behind the bar. Made for some slower service at times. And I thought that since they took reservations, they'd be a little nice... A little fancier? NOT. Overall, pretty good though.

Very old school menu and cocktail choices. Nice portions of entrees. Salad bar one of offerings. Service was good. Expected a bit more as far as ambiance, but Robert's is keeping tradition going with no changes. Works.

Was killing time at work, and decided to walk around a check out the river walk in downtown Evansville, after that I decided to stop off and grab a snack and a drink, this is located within a very cool shrine: museum to the Shriners, when I walked in I was seated right away, I ended up enjoying some micolob ultra and some tasty Jalapeño poppers, it was the perfect pick me up! Friendly staff, hope im able to get back one day.

On our final day in Indiana we found this place on a google search of the area. We already knew what we wanted before we walked in the door. I had fried fish fillet with mashed potatoes no gravy and the best tasting green beans I believe I've ever had a restaurant. The fish was seasoned perfectly and was so delicious. My daughter had the same other than she had the French fries instead of mashed potatoes She did mentioned she wish the fries were hand cut instead of simply frying frozen crinkle fries. Our last night happened to be a Friday night and it was getting busy and appeared to be short staffed but the two waiting the tables handled it perfectly and kept the room moving. Really wished we could have sat outside because it was such a nice evening but with the short staffing I can see why that wasn't possible. Definitely our next visit we will go back here.

Located in the Hadi Shrine building overlooking the river. They have a bar, dining room, and outdoor seating. Could tell that everyone there knew each other. We were seated quickly but had to wait for our waitress for about 10 minutes. After that she was friendly and provided great service. After we ordered drinks we ordered dinner. I got the grilled pork steak. It was delicious and the first time I have seen it on menu. My wife got the fried catfish fillet, and others the chicken fried steak with white gravy. Everyone really enjoyed their main entree. The sides were quite good, especially the collard greens. We didn't have it but the salad bar looked well stocked and fresh. A nice dining experience.

We visited Evansville for an overnight trip. We're from the south, but we live in the Midwest now. When we looked at this menu, it reminded us of home with the fried fish, hush puppies and salad bar. We tried the chili and loaded baked potato soup. As you see, we couldn't decide on which one we liked more as they were both delicious, so we just mixed them both! I had the catfish, hush puppies, green beans and salad bar. My husband had the pork steak, baked potato and salad bar with a sweet tea. Everything was seasoned well! Ryan was our server and he was absolutely phenomenal and welcoming with all the suggestions. They were out of the meatloaf and bourbon slushes we wanted to try, but that's all the more reason to come back when we're back in town. Such a great restaurant and we look forward to coming when we're back in town. After we dined, we took a stroll in the river across the street to work off some of the food. Such a beautiful scenery!

We parked in front of the restaurant, and were seated immediately. The inside is small, but they also have a nice little patio area if the weather is right. We chose to sit inside this time. The bar is nice as well. They were busy but the food and drinks come out quickly, so that helps. I started with the signature drink according to the server. It was called the lucky bucket, and it's a spicy strawberry margarita. It definitely has a kick to it, with good flavor. I ordered the special, which was a chicken Parmesan sandwich, made with a homemade marinara sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, and banana peppers. It was delicious!!! My husband had the fried chicken club sandwich. They originally brought out the wrong sandwich for him, so the picture is of a different sandwich, but once corrected, he said it was good. He ate the other half of my sandwich and liked it better! We also shared the classic fries and a slice of the vanilla cheesecake with homemade berry compote for dessert. Great service. Delicious food. We will be back to try the burgers! They looked and smelled amazing too...

Trusting their website advice to overlook the appearance of their restaurant, which is located in an older house in a more industrial area, we decided to have dinner in a non traditional restaurant, and we were very glad that we did. The service was excellent, so friendly and efficient that we could have been in a 5 star restaurant. But you wouldn't find food that good in most fancy restaurants. We started with a plate of fried green tomatoes, and while no one is ever going to fix them as well as Daddy did in his iron skillet, they provided a dip to join them that was quite good... certainly, not one that Daddy ever thought of! Auntie had the pulled pork dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy & apple sauce. She ordered the appetizer brussell sprouts, and they were amazing! Hubby went with one of his favorite meals: fried catfish; yes, he almost inhaled it! As always, his German fried potatoes were great, and what can you really say about cottage cheese? It was there, and he ate it I went for the kubuki steak with fried cabbage & onions & mushrooms. The fried rice was delicious, but the ribeye took "delicious" to a whole new level! Oh! My goodness! It practically melted in my mouth! And the cabbage!! Wonderful! The "50's" down-home furnishings were likely family hand-me-downs & yard-sale finds, not particularly pretty but serviceable and authentic. Everything was very clean, even the too-small restroom, which reminded me of the first one my grandmother ever had in her house. Again, it was clean, but there was a leak on the restroom floor, something that can easily be repaired. If you are looking for upscale decor, don't come here. But if you want terrific food, friendly service, and a delightful experience, be sure to visit the Cross Eyed Cricket; it's wonderful! I understand there's a sister Cross Eyed Cricket in a three-story building right in the middle of the charming downtown. Their food might be almost as good as we had, but I think the lost atmosphere will detract from the visit. It's your call!

The menu tonight was predetermined with great options. Service was a little slow tonight, but that is to be expected when the entire restaurant is at capacity with reservations. My husband and I loved the appetizers. It was a sample of shrimp cocktail, spinach dip with pita bread, and sriracha honey bacon brussel sprouts. I ordered the garden salad for my next course while my husband chose the broccoli mushroom chowder. We each enjoyed our choice. For the main course I had the marinated grilled chicken with creamy spinach and artichoke, and my husband had the 16 ounce bone in ribeye. Both main dishes came with a twice baked potato and roasted vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, bell pepper). My chicken was slightly overcooked, but it wasn't too noticeable with the creamy topping. My husband's steak was cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed the sides. We got dessert to go as we were so full by that point. I chose the carrot cake and he got the cheesecake. Our son was very happy we decided to bring the desserts home so he could also try them. Both were delicious, but the carrot cake was the standout. We look forward to returning to have their regular menu.
