I am hesitant to ever give a bad review because every business has a bad day... in this case I feel I should be blatantly honest. 1st the "funnel cake " is not infact a funnel cake. Funnel cakes are made with a funnel. What you have is fried toast. 2nd my breakfast came cold, Not even the butter on the top of the potatoes would melt. I sent it back. Instead of preparing an entirely new plate as should have happened it was microwaved and returned to me. So my over medium eggs became hard eggs. The sausage was not freshly prepared but have been sitting on the grill, kept slightly warm and dried out , in other words it had been precooked and it was awful.. It was clear that I was very displeased. Consequently,, the restaurant comped my bill without my asking. Not sure what I would recommend except that the basics of the food hot and not cold making sure that it is perfect - over medium means over medium, not hard. Advertise something as a funnel cake then Google how to make funnel cakes otherwise advertise it as fried bread. Morr and more restaurants are going to having the bacon and the sausage sitting on the side of the grill and that is just gross. Certainly staff were very nice and prompt for the exception of letting my meal get cold before they gave it to me. And I fell that they were trying hard. Would I recommend them to someone else? The food was outstanding. The general vibe is "converted fast food restaurant" but comfortable. The service was fast but our server seemed to simply not like people. This place is a absolute must for visitors and residents alike. The service is top notch, the ambiance is so very quaint even when there is several tables full it's never loud and always a calm ladies back setting. The food OMG where to start with the food. Everything we have tried here so far has been phenomenal and you best be hungry or have the ability to put some groceries away. The portions has always been above and beyond. We had been to Meles Diner once for a private function, and decided to try it out on our own one night. There were several items shown on the menu on the wall, but everything we wanted to order was no longer being offered. The waiter seemed to be annoyed when we asked for something that they were no longer serving. All three of us "settled" on something that wasn't our first choice. The food portions were generous, but our steaks were not cooked to our requests (rare, medium rare, well done). My steak tasted a bit old. My friend got sick after her dinner, although, to be fair, we don't know for sure if it was caused by the meal. All three of us were very disappointed, and decided we would not be coming back for dinner. Maybe we'll try out their breakfast sometime, since our friends have raved about them. read more

My grandpa always raved about this place, so I finally decided to try it with him. Mele's did not disappoint! They offer traditional breakfast food and authentic Mexican cuisine as well. I tried the breakfast pork chilaquiles and they were absolutely delicious! Not to mention the service from our waitress Sue was phenomenal, she's the best! If you're in Evansville and want to eat somewhere that isn't a chain or fast food restaurant, I'd happily recommend Mele's. read more

We tried it for the first time two days ago. It is a pleasant place and our chef salad and shrimp burrito were both very good. However, our waiter forgot all about us after the food arrived. He stopped by as we were finishing and was going to give me a to go cup for my tea, but never returned. We went to the front to get to go containers for food and waited for tea and the check. We got neither and had to go to the front again to get a ticket and pay. Never did see the promised tea. I left a tip, but wished that I hadn't. In summary, the food was fine but the service was non- existent, so depending on what you want, you can go and take your chances. We are unsure if we are going to return or not. read more

My friends and I were in disbelief over the service we witnessed at the diner by meles off of green river road... My friends and I were trying to enjoy a nice meal. We had witnessed an older gentleman who was also a U.S Veteran sitting diagonal from us. This gentleman was disabled and had a walker. My friends and I had offered to pay for the gentleman's meal as we saw him trying to gather enough change to pay for both his meal and a tip. My friend went up to the manager and told them we would pay for it. The manager got bent out of shape over us wanting to pay for him. He said he had to pay for it and that he had to give tips for everyone. My friends and I had witness him give tips to everybody in the building. I then go to the restroom and come back and the guy was trying to get to his vehicle. I offered my assistance to the gentleman to try to walk him to his car and he was thankful for my friends to assist him but declined and said he was fine. The lack of humanity, the lack of respect, and lack of generosity I witnessed from this place was unbelievable! This will be the last time I go there! To the gentleman I spoke to today thank you for your service! The freedom and opportunities you have given to our country is incredible in itself! read more

Stopped in here when Biscuit Belly was closed due to product shortages and were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted and seated promptly with our drinks orders taken right away. We ordered and then noticed their specials board which had items not seen on their menu. We asked if it was too late to change our orders and they went out of their way to do so. Coffee was delicious and food was also delicious. Two of us got eggs and Avocado toast which were both good. Avocado toast was a bit on the spicy side in spots but very refreshing. Our third party got the Mele's special which was a lot of food and also good. Price was reasonable as well. Definitely revisiting. read more

Menu does not accurately reflect how the dishes are served. Ordered a burrito that said "served with rice and beans". So I ordered double rice no beans. What I received was a hard tortilla filled with only rice and dry and overcooked pork chop that was not "carnitas" which was $1 extra. Will not return. read more
