Big Red Restaurant wasn't today's destination. It is on my list to try; today it became plan "B." Our destination, a restaurant further down the road, located in the middle of the construction zone, was closed. Looks permanently closed. A double back to Big Red was an excellent play. Catfish was the special today. I'll take that. A burger and tots for my wife. The waitress, Lisa, took care of us. She is a lively friendly outgoing young lady. A real "corker!" Excellent service. Great Burger, the catfish was amazing. Check the pictures. I liked the slaw. Comfortable seating. Rustic wood everywhere. Football is the theme. In Oklahoma for the weekend so we stopped into Big Red for lunch. We were told we could sit anywhere, shortly after our waitress showed up to greet us and take our drink order. The ambiance was very family friendly. I liked the whole sports theme, and all the different football helmets on the tables that hold the condiments. The food was pretty good too! I had the Linebacker for my meal and it was pretty tasty. My husband had the BBQ dinner which was pretty good too. The kids had a variation of chicken tenders and corn dogs and they were pleased. Overall good food and for a good price. I will definitely be back when I come back to town. read more

Such a terrible experience. Food was horrible, we did not eat it. Ordered bbq sandwich it was way too saucy and tasted like it was old/prepackaged and reheated. Also got the bbq meat plate and the meat was grey (old) and beans were bad. Only ate one bite of each plate. Salad was ok and chili cheese fries were ok. Ranch was good. Waitress never asked why we didn't eat our meal. Gnats were also an issue they surrounded our food the entire time it was on our table. read more

Two bites in I bit a huge piece of grissle. I looked up to find the waitresses and a bus girl mocking me. I had been traveling for 24 hours with my little friend to see her momma's grave and stopped to eat. If I hadn't been with her you would have apologized to me then or I would have mopped the floor with her and her buddies. A friend of mine was murdered in front of that restaurant. Maybe you know him? Rodney Davis? His wife's parents used to own the trailer park next door. My parents recently moved to the area and we decided to go to Friday night dinner. I read the reviews about how Big Red had a good breakfast, so we thought Friday fish fry would be fun. I was wrong. All of our drinks had a very strong well water taste to them, including soft drinks. The food was very heavy and greasy. The corn meal was so thick on one of the catfish pieces that I couldn't eat it. The sides were nice and that's what my daughter and I wound up eating. We met a Phoenician transplant who worked there so it was nice to see Oklahoma bringing in some new blood. I did not try them for breakfast but, when we visit again, we may give them another chance. But dinner is definitely out. read more

Especially for me I enjoyed the biscuits with cream gravy and I put some mushrooms on them, also on the buffet bar. Stopped in here for breakfast while staying at the lake. Seat yourself, friendly service and good home eatin. We both had the 3 meat omelette, hash browns and biscuit with side of creamy gravy. STAY AWAY !! Not a mask in the building. Absolutely no Covid measures taken at all. Tables close together, no social distancing at all. Meatloaf was 2 hamburgers stuck together with gravy on top. Not to impressed with this place. Was passing through town and saw this place. Thought maybe a hole in the wall cafe might be good. When I walked in I saw that they had a lunch special. The dry erase board said hot beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and a side salad. The sandwich consisted of two pieces of white bread, two very overcooked and dry, thin slices of beef and about a pint of Brown gravy. A small scoop of mashed potatoes and NO SALAD. This local dive has a nice atmosphere and is run decently for a small town place. The menu looks very good. I wished I was hungry enough to try the ribs but I only got coconut pie, which was very good. The coffee was also good. Waitresses were friendly and helpful. It was a little confusing walking into the door as there were no signs or staff to direct you, but I figured this is one of those places where they don't care where you sit and I think I was right. I don't know why anyone would eat here. The place is old and dingy. Looks like it has never had a good cleaning. Everyone rants about the breakfast's, but their dinners are horrible. Ordered hamburgers and salads to take to the lake for a picnic dinner. No salad dressings, silverware, condiments. the lettuce in salad was old and slimy. Their grilled catfish is divine! I had it both times I ate there, and both times it was delicious. Seasoned just right, juicy and tender/flaky. Texture and temperature was just right. It came with a side of either cole slaw or salad (I had the salad), choice of fries, baked potato or mashed potato, a couple of hush puppies, some really good tartar sauce, and a huge serving of catfish. I don't know how I managed it, but I also got a piece of pie. The lemon meringue pie and chocolate meringue pie were good. They also have a good selection of BBQ. I wish I could go back and try some. The service is excellent. I talked with three of the wait staff while I was there, because I like to chat. They were all friendly, helpful, and competent. The food was good, the service was excellent. The bad review is due to the unprofessionalism I saw from the manager or owner. She was unhappy about something and was scolding her wait staff like they were animals and doing it in front of paying customers. This just really ruined my whole experience here. I won't be back. But, I'd probably give the other meals other than breakfast generally a 3 or average. They are very convenient to Tenkiller Lodge which is where I stayed across the street.. My wife and I stopped by Big Red Restaurant Saturday on the way home from Tenkiller Lake. I had their Big Red Slam Sandwich, BBQ 3 meat , it was incredible. My wife had a small chicken fried steak that was great too. Had to finish with one of the best coconut cream pies we have ever split. Can't wait to be in that area again. Me and my husband stopped there. I ordered the BBQ sandwich, fries and a drink. My husband ordered the Hamburger Steak with mash potatoes and green beans, they brought him as salad which he apparently wasn't aware of ordering. The salad consisted of packaged salad mix and stale crackers with a bowl of french dressing. When our food came the very rude waitress brought a hamburger patty and a small bowl of green beans. My husband took the plate back and asked her where the potatoes were and she said, "You didn't order any." He stood there asking for potatoes with his plate in his hand and she kept saying, "You didn't order any." Finally he said, "Well I am not going to eat this or pay for it without the potatoes." I was so upset it was all I could do to continuing eating all that good BBQ and start on my delicious french fries. Meanwhile, he had drawn a line in the sand and she was attempting to cross over it. Dirty looks were exchanged and the stink eye was given. He finally retreated from battle and came and set down with some mash potatoes and gravy added to his plate, "Good job," I said. He seemed happy for a split second but soon found out the waitress's kindness was all a ruse because they had knowingly not put onions in the hamburger steak. (There is no telling how much money they save each year, cheating old men out of onions in their hamburger steak.) When we left our bill came to 30 dollars and some odd cents. Which seems high to me, I feel I could have gotten the exact same about of rudeness at McDonalds for a lot cheaper. Actually they are pretty nice to my grouchy old man at Mcdonalds.
