WARNING!!! This company operates in a very "off the books" manner and you may never see your piano again. I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not. Please, for your own protection, take your piano somewhere else.
I do not even know where to begin to warn fellow musicians about this company. After a more than 2-year battle, I have never felt so frustrated and defeated, and my experience with this company ends with them keeping my piano, a 6'1 Yamaha Grand (so, not a small or cheap thing to replace) that was a gift from my parents and now is somehow "nowhere to be found".
I had a similar experience to another reviewer, Gloria. Gloria, I am so sorry that this happened to you. I can relate to your frustration. They did the same thing to me.
My experience and warning to readers:
I paid Big Piano Movers to move and store my piano, which in theory, they did. I supervised the move from my home to the truck, which was fine. From then on, I paid the monthly storage fees and didn't receive a single receipt for 5 months, so I requested receipts from the owner Frank. He responded by barking at me over the phone saying that "I don't have a secretary or anything to write receipts for me" and refused to provide any - even though my bank showed that the checks were being cashed. This is a piano we're talking about, not an Ikea desk, so I outlined to him over the phone that "I cannot continue submitting monthly payments without receipts or proof of services rendered (aka proof that my piano was actually in their storage facility). Time and time again, Frank replied with more yelling, more shaming, more cursing, more hanging up or not even picking up the phone when I called back... AND... still no receipts. More than 2 years of battling have now gone by, and when I call to ask where my piano is, Frank either deflects, yells at me, hangs up or doesn't answer. I STILL do not have my piano, and I'll probably never see it again.
I beg you to please let this company shrivel up and crumble to dust, but if for some reason you still want to play chance and use them - DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!! Every receipt, piece of paper, and don't skip the details. Make sure signatures have printed and legible names next to them, phone numbers, dates, additional contact numbers, all written down. If I could go back in time, I would have driven behind the moving truck and watched them put my piano in storage with my own eyes. I would even recommend an additional contract that YOU provide (or honestly, even a lawyer) to protect your property. If you skip this and something goes wrong, be prepared to likely never see your piano again. read more
