Inquired to have an upright piano moved one mile. The contract they is confusing and filled with contradictions. Here is an example: "Unless a greater valuation is stated herein, the depositor or owner declares that the value in case of loss or damage arising out of storage, transportation, packing, unpacking, clearing or handling of the goods and the liability of the company for any cause for which it may be storage, transportation, packing, unpacking, clearing or handling of the goods and liability of the company for any cause for which it may be liable for each or any piece or package and the contents thereof does not exceed and is limited to the standard/minimum amount set by the comp any and based on the size of the instrument." I asked them to add the value of the piano to the contract and they refused. At one point they didn't want me to call so we had to go back and forth over text. Who does business that way??? To have the piano covered for its full value they asked me to pay $150 extra for insurance. How can a piano moving company not have their own liability insurance that covers the total cost of a piano??? Eventually I got tired of texting and went with someone else. Bottom line, train the people answering the phone so they understand the business, can make decisions and don't have to go back and forth to "the boss" and make the customers wait all day over text to get basic agreements settled. Very unprofessional. read more

I needed to move a grand piano from Westchester to Queens. I contacted this company and was given an estimate which seemed reasonable. There is also an extra 3% surchage if you use a credit card. There were no long, twisting stairwells to navigate (which I believe increases the cost), so a relatively straight-forward move. The company was very responsive via email with answers to my questions (usually within a day) and we booked a date. It snowed the day before the move, but the movers showed up on time, were very professional, and the move went very smoothly. I did not notice any issues upon delivery. I have a Dampp Chaser system attached to the bottom of the piano to help regulate the humidity around the sound board. About 1 week after delivery, I noticed that one of the bars from the Dampp Chaser was on the floor hanging from its power cable. It turns out that two clamps that hold the bar in place were broken, and the bar eventually fell (I think from general vibrations from playing the piano). I suppose maybe this could have been from just general wear, but the timing with the move was just a little odd, and it was two clips, not just one. I contacted the company via email (using the same e-mail address that I had used previously) with photos of the problem and received absolutely no reponse. Eventually, it was a pretty simple, inexpensive repair, but I was a little disappointed in their lack of response (which is why I took off a star), and just wonder what would have happened if we were dealing with a bigger problem. I'm not going to pass judgement, I was otherwise happy with the move, but you can read about the interaction and decide for yourself how important this is if you chose to use this company. Update: So the company did reach to me, took responsibility for the damage, and offered to make it right. At this point, I did not take them up on their offer since it turned out to be a relative easy and inexpensive repair, but I just wanted to acknowledge their follow-up. read more

The "magic" in the name is absolutely true! They managed to maneuver a Steinway studio upright (approx. 600 lb) around a hairpin turn as they carried it down the stairs, turned it within a narrow hall as they headed toward the door, and eased it down some more stairs to reach their truck. It was astonishing. The three gentlemen who did the move could not have been more courteous and patient, as were the folks who I spoke with on the phone as I set up the appointment. Five stars isn't enough!!! read more

These guys were great. Setting up the appointment was fast and easy. Sher and his team knew how to handle pianos. They were very careful, meticulous and fast, taking good care of my baby grand while also being careful with surrounding floor and furniture. I highly recommend the Magic team. Thanks. My childhood home was in the last stretch of closing and I had to find a good piano mover in order to set an actual closing date. The entire house needed to be completely cleared in only 4 days for the final "walk through." I had already flown back to LA but was confident that I would find someone on Yelp in no time. I searched piano movers in the Westchester, New York area, read several reviews and then made a few inquiries over the phone. After getting a few price quotes, my intuition told me to go with Sherzod at "Magic Piano Movers." He was very nice to talk with and took the time to explain step by step how they would pack up my baby grand piano before they moved it to its destination in Monroe, NY. The price was $650 which included gas, tolls, packing it up securely/safely, and setting it up at the new location. He also asked if any steps or stairs were at either location since they charged an extra fee for any steps over 3. Sher was very honest and upfront which I appreciated. My cousins met the movers at my house at 9:00 am on Saturday. They told me that they were on time, early even, and did an excellent job getting the baby grand out of the house. They broke it down, wrapped it up to protect it and got it on the truck very quickly. It was comforting to know that my piano was in good hands while 3,000 miles away. I HIGHLY recommend Piano Movers. read more

The piano was in fact dropped twice. Yelp will not allow me to upload the videos as they were deemed too large. It was dropped once on the stairwell, and again when moving it from the foyer because the movers did not take the effort to lift it over two small steps. Again, do not recommend. It is worth it to pay more for a higher quality service where all members take care. This service was horrendous. Again - do not recommend. read more

Everything went great! Simple, well priced and handled our family heirloom with care! Well done!

We asked for piano moving and they provided Good service and easy communication. Delivered as promised.

What a great group of movers and quick and efficient I must say. I had to get an upright piano moved within 18 hours and it was a breeze for them plus reasonable prices. They were even able to add another move that a friend of mine needed with the same deadline. Also, my building required a COI which they added with no problem for a extra charge. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needed to move a piano of any kind if they want something quick and efficient. These guys don't play around. When they say they can have the move done they really do mean it. read more

Sher and his team did an amazing job!!! They moved my piano last week on Wednesday and they handled my piano very well and moved it in a timely fashion. I knew that the job was not an easy one. They worked really hard and moved a lot of our belongings to our new home. Not only did we have a lot of things, but extremely heavy furniture. They were so professional and nice. They worked non stop! They wrapped everything and kept all of our belongings in good condition. I would hire them again and I highly recommend them. read more

I initially contacted Sher to schedule a move of an upright grand from NJ to my apartment on Riverside Drive in Washington Heights. Sher not only gave me the best quote, but he also assessed the piano we were moving and explained that what we were paying for wasn't worth it. Instead of taking what would have been a more expensive job, he offered to sell me a piano he had in storage for hundreds less than my original request, and it was just delivered this morning. The piano is in fabulous shape, and it took ten minutes to get it off the truck and into my apartment. We are SO happy with our experience, and if/when we are ready to upgrade or replace, I know who I can call for advice. Absolutely exceptional service, straightforward answers, and a very "Only in New York" experience. THANK YOU SO MUCH! read more

They arrived on time, got the piano from the second floor of a non-elevator building, everything went smoothly. They are professionals and know what they are doing. They moved it from NYC to Jersey City, and had one of the best prices among about 5 different piano movers I quoted. Communication was great too. Sherzod is a very nice guy and very easy to deal with. Highly recommended! read more

This moving company is incredible! From start to finish, the job was done with the highest level of professionalism and skill. My situation was complicated: the mover I scheduled for the day, cancelled. I had to move the piano exactly on the day. Called Magic Piano Movers at 8 am on a Saturday to ask for a same day service. The manager taking care of me, Nargiza, was very efficient, responsive and professional. She was able to get me a crew to move my piano for 11 am that same day. The crew, lead by Sebastian, did an amazing job: fast, skillful, professional. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need to move a piano. 100% satisfied! read more

I cannot even begin to find words to tell you how thankful and grateful I am to Sherzod and the Magic Piano Movers team. They did an amazing amazing job. They made it look so easy every step of the way. They were able to get a Steinway B (7') into the building elevator. And once in my apartment - they made a seemingly impossible task of going up narrow turning stairs easy. These men are absolute professionals in work ethic and attitude. I give them my highest recommendation and will only use them for the next time I move the piano. read more

This company is absolutely awesome. I was totally down to the wire after a different piano moving company no-showed on me (after laborious back and forth and me having to coordinate with multiple people no less... the other company no showed and then didn't respond to my 3+ phone calls, messages and emails. Literally ghosted!). I think within 24 hours of me reaching out to Magic Piano (I kid you not), the office manager of Magic Piano had pulled a COI and confirmed everything. Totally responsive, emailed, texted and talked to them multiple times throughout the moving process (I was off-site) and the team made everything beyond easy for me. Completely appreciated after my previous terrible experience. Literally, one company no-showed on a Tues. I talked to Magic Piano on a Weds and the entire piano was moved from NYC to another location 3 hours away all on Thurs. A perfectly named company. Magic Indeed! read more

I had a very positive experience with Magic Piano Movers. I needed a spinet piano moved from the second floor of my parents home in Queens to the first level of my home in Valley Stream. I also needed it done within a 5 day period, since my folks were moving out. Magic Piano Movers responded to my quote request via email within an hour or two and followed up with a phone call. Their price was fair and they were able to move it the date I needed. The movers arrived at the pickup location early and were very professional. They were quick, but also cautious, even navigating a couple of tight turns and long flight of steps. At the delivery location they were just as efficient and had the piano in place in no time. I am extremely satisfied with the work of Magic Piano Movers and recommend them to anyone looking for such services. read more

Magic Piano Movers - Spinet piano - Piano Services Near Me - Forest Hills, New York

Wow. I've had the worst experience with this mover. I really recommend you DO NOT use this company. Incredibly unprofessional. I reached out to magic piano movers to move a free piano i found on Craigslist. There were a few different things i had to arrange to ensure this move would work and i was transparent about that. I had to find a time that worked for the people I'm taking the piano from, the mover, AND my superintendent. I told this to the mover when i schedule the move and i told him i was not going to officially confirm over email (which he said is the protocol for confirming a move) until i was able to lock in my super for a moving time. I ended up not being able to get ahold of my super so i told magic piano movers that this wasn't going to work and not to pick up this piano. I didn't get a reply until 3 hours later And he tells me that they are on their way to pick up the piano! I restated that i canceled the piano in the previous text and quoted that text back to him. He told me it was funny he forgot. He then continued to pick up the piano and said "Super right there and they're picking up". They picked up this piano without my authorization! I never confirmed the moving AND i explicitly told him to not pick up the piano. Even though he picked up the piano without confirmation i tried to make it work with my super. We picked a time a few days later for him to bring it. The day of delivery he tries to deliver it three hours early with a one hour notice, tells me i need to be flexible. He finally agrees to the original delivery time and my super has to cancel due to a funeral. When i tell the mover he gets very upset and starts harassing me about how unprofessional i am being, he's going to charge me for storage of the piano and take me to claims court. Now he has this piano and is harassing me over text about it. Telling me how unprofessional this is and that he's going to take me claims court. So unless you want to be responsible for a piano you never authorized to have moved and then be harassed and told you're wrong when you tell him you didn't authorize the move, DO NOT CHOOSE MAGIC MOVERS. read more

I'm a believer! Trust the 5 stars on Yelp - very well deserved! I was not personally present for pick-up or drop-off for the upright piano but I heard very good things :) Prior to delivery, I reached out to 7 places and out of the bunch Sher gave me one of the best quotes. There were some clowns who quoted me twice as much! Sher's responses were quick, and on the day of the delivery he kept me updated on the status. Best part - if he says he will show up at 8:00-8:30am, you can trust that he will be there. When he says drop off will be around 1:00pm-1:30pm, you better be ready. Most delivery guys give you a 2-4 hour window and sometimes don't even show. This, of course, throws your schedule out of wack and tests your patience. We've all been there. Sher and his team have integrity and does what they say. They made the process quick and painless. And we are extra elated that the piano arrived safely in tip top shape with zero damage. read more

I believe it says in the bible, "Judge not, lest ye be judged", so before I tear this business a new one, I want to mention what they did that I found admirable, since I would hope someone critiquing my business would do me a similar courtesy: the gentlemen who moved my piano did their damndest to get my hunk of a 1946 steinway upright up three flights of stairs, succeeded, and did so with piano legs that seemed to be glued to the body of the piano from whatever polish was used on them (meaning, when you unscrewed the cable screws, the leg just stayed there). As it so happened, one of the piano legs broke on the way up the stairs, and again, the piano legs should have been able to be removed in an ideal world, so I had sympathy for the movers making the best of a bad circumstance. They then Gorilla glued on the leg. It was functional, but I hoped for a better fix later with a 13k instrument. This was on December 20th. I didn't mention to Sherzad that the leg was broken because, stupidly, at the time, I wanted to cover for the mover that broke the leg, feeling bad that happened. I paid 500 dollars with a convenience charge via credit card, and mulled things over. Then, I had this text correspondence with Sherzad on Jan 6th: Me: Sherzad! Joe Martin here, December 20th job. I noticed a piano leg was broken during the move for my piano, and I said nothing that day because I assumed nothing could be done. However, IF you were insured, I figured I'd ask if it were possible for your insurance company to foot the bill for repairs. S: Joe that's impossible, why you telling now? S: What was your address? Me: (gives address) S: Joe it's not acceptable. You have to be informed that day. Me: It's not a big deal, I just wanted to ask. Me: Ok Me: Just wanted to be sure. S: Man it was broken before the move. My guy explained you on that day. S: Thanks good night. So be careful with this company, as this is their policy with breaking piano legs on 73 year old, 13k Steinways. I do not fault the movers. I fault Sherzad. read more

I had a very difficult move (a heavy upright to the 4th floor+quite narrow hallways) and made the mistake of hiring 2 other companies before going with Magic Movers. The 2 other companies, though they both had 4 movers, gave up and still charged me (one full price, the other partial.) Magic said there would be no charge unless they were successful, and, with only 3 movers, they moved the piano without any damage. After seeing 2 other companies attempt the move with 4 movers (and one of those companies even damaged the piano while trying), I know this was no small feat. Magic's movers were both clever and fiercely strong while planning and executing the move. I should also mention--they did this move on less than 24 hours notice and showed up about 25 minutes after we agreed on a price and action plan. They also took apart the piano (and later put back together of course), removing legs and keybed, to help with the move, but didn't damage anything--I thought this would have required a technician, but it didn't--pretty amazing! If you have a challenging move, don't make the mistakes I did, and just go with this company. read more

Absolutely fantastic. This is the third time we hired Sher and his excellent team for the move of our GRAND Steinway piano.
