My first time trying this spot and I'm gonna repeat what others said about the long wait times. 30 minutes to get my carnitas burrito. I could see my tortilla sitting for a while on the line too before the burrito was made. Burrito was poorly wrapped as well causing lots of food to spill out when I tried to eat it. The kitchen is definitely inefficient. Lots of employees looking confused and going back and forth to the grill. Thus my 3 star rating. But the food was pretty good! Carnitas was a little salty for my liking but I am eager to try the birria and other things. Although I'll probably order from Grubhub so I can wait in the comfort of my home next time. 20$ burrito the value doesn't seem to be quite there. Tacos seem more reasonably priced. I really hope you guys get your ticket times and line processes straight. With the food quality here you definitely got one of the best Mexican spots in town. read more

After reading many recommendations on the Facebook page, 'Everything Frederick', my girlfriend and I finally tried Big Papi's. It was a $33 mistake. I just read a dozen reviews here and it appears as though the quality/taste of Big Papi's food is either hit or miss. Unfortunately, on this particular day, our food was the later. We ordered six carnitas tacos (using flour tortilla's) along with a side of "Mexican Rice & Pinto Beans." When we got home we found the tortilla's used were corn (not flour), the pulled pork was dry and tasteless and the rice & beans was 'throw-it-away' too salty. Most definitely a miss. I was doing some book shopping and wanted a bite to eat before I headed home. I was in the mood for tacos and this place was really close and highly rated. I was disappointed that they didn't have any tables. It's strictly takeout only, but I'm not going to gig them for that. Tacos are probably my most favorite food, especially the Birria. I was also in the mood for a chorizo one and I spotted an interesting one, a fried Rockfish Taco so I ordered one up as well. There's several more items on the menu that I'm going to go back and try. It's still early evening at this point and since I haven't been sleeping well lately I knew I would be hungry again later so I also ordered a Birria Torta for later. It's much bigger than I expected but haven't tried it as of this review, it looks and smells amazing though. The restaurant is located in a commercial/industrial warehouse area. Not hard to find though. Waze took me right to it. The store was clean but the decor was dark as most surfaces are black. The music was loud and not my style but because of the atmosphere of the restaurant I get it. The employees jamming out to make their shift more enjoyable. That's a good thing. Ordering is done through a self-serve kiosk iPad thing or online. The staff were friendly and courteous. While I was waiting for my food there was a steady stream of customers coming and picking up their orders. It's a popular place with a high rating and it's well deserved. The tacos were fantastic. One of the best kept secrets and hidden gems in Frederick is Big Papi's. The Birria tacos are absolutely to die for. Pair it with consomé and it's a match made in Heaven. Their street corn is some of the best in Frederick, and a huge portion that can be shared amongst friends or saved for later. It is the perfect addition to their tacos as well. Tried this place because of the wonderful reviews. Unfortunately, this was a big no for us:( 1st , no place to sit inside or outside. We didn't realize that it's just a take out place. We're traveling from VA to PA and wanted to have a sit down lunch. 2nd, I ordered burrito with tinga chicken but there was NO chicken in my burrito. The rice wasn't fully cook and it was salty. We did a delivery through Toast Tab (run by Door Dash). Honestly Toast Tab makes everything so easy. When the food arrived it was all neatly packaged. Everything we ordered was included. The chicken tacos were simple but so good! The spicy sauce was excellent and even the lime wedges were perfectly ripe. We got a side of chips and guac - the guac was still green and tasted fresh. The chips seem to be made in house and we're also tasty. For the chips with cheese, the cheese seemed to either have some sort of hot sauce added or seemed to be not homemade since the color was a dark orange (don't want to assume but would like to know). I loved this place when it first open, but geez it's went downhill quick. I ordered online and was surprised I got a text saying my order says ready almost immediately, but considering I didn't have a great experience the time before this I figured they had just died down, so I ran up there quick, I'm like 5 minutes away. I get there walk in to blaring music and my order is not ready apparently... so I see the guy load up 3 birrea tacos but they were sitting under a big order so figured they went with that order. I could see my name on their order board so to me still looked like it was in the process, so after 30minutes of me standing there and that big order getting bagged up, I asked if my order was going to be ready some time soon and girl is like oh sure here they are, just sitting in the back under that big order, getting cold as shit.
