Ooof. I used to love this location. I've come here for years and never had a bring back. Until now. Something changed here recently; faces are different and I was harangued by some dude behind the counter about vaccines, not what I was there for. Be my guest, enjoy having sick children, weirdo - I'm here for tires. Yesterday I called this location asking for a specific model and size of Falken tire; I got an assurance that the tires would be there when I arrived today. And some tires were there - just not the right tire or load range for my vehicle. Yesterday I asked for and was promised the Falken AT3w. Today I was told I would get the AT3w "HD", but there isn't such a tire. They ordered a different tire with load range E (one ton trucks and heavier) by mistake, leaving me no real alternative the day before my trip begins. I told them I'd be traveling when I called yesterday - so I had to take these, and they're not great on the Grade. The HD tire is definitely not what I wanted. Flag #1. Flag 2. I didn't ask for a nitrogen fill, and it is not necessary or appropriate for a tire with this amount of volume in western Nevada. The air we breathe every day is 85% nitrogen and there is very little humidity around here; if someone had bothered to ask, I would've rejected nitrogen fill, but by the time I was presented with the bill, guess what ? We were up against all the time I had budgeted, and I had to go. this pushed my bill up considerably, it's 100% profit, and I didn't ask for it, I know enough to know that I don't need it for this application. Flag number three. This one is pretty clever, and it is how they work around their price guarantee. I ended up paying more than I should have per tire due to them ordering the wrong tire, and I'm not afraid to say that the dismissive comments from the person in charge when I asked about the bill were not encouraging. Flag number 4 is the actual dangerous one. All four tires were underfilled, regardless of whether you looked at the sidewalk or the placard inside the drivers door. Sending your customer away in a car, throwing low pressure alerts is a clownish thing to do. It's also incredibly dangerous and sets up a shop for massive liability, especially when they just sold you $4 per corner nitrogen fill. Flag 5 is the fact that they didn't even look at the spare. Despite the fact the truck was aligned with them less than five months ago, they recommended another $175 alignment as well. I regularly participate in track events and have lots of off-road fun. I know what I'm looking for and talking about when it comes to tires, and unfortunately, this store isn't it anymore. I'll take my business elsewhere when I have track tires to mount or tires to buy for my trailer, or tires to buy for any of my four vehicles. You're really don't get another shot with me after days like today. read more

The staff was friendly and professional, and the waiting area was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the appointment process was very disappointing. I scheduled my appointment for 1:00 PM and even arrived early to check in, but I was told it would be another two hours before my car would even be looked at. At that point, it makes you wonder what the purpose of making an appointment is. I was only getting my tires replaced and balanced, yet the estimated completion time was around three hours. I was also told to come back later, but I drove my car there. Are customers expected to walk around for hours or find another ride while waiting? It would make much more sense to schedule appointments based on realistic availability instead of having customers spend the majority of their day waiting. Been here a couple times, and so far each of my visits have been good. The staff is always kind, and does acknowledge my arrival and that they will be right with me to help. I've bought my tires at the NW location, but came here for my tire rotation. A day later my tire pressure sensor came on, so I returned to the store to get it checked out. The staff was kind, helpful and pleasant despite it being quite busy. They checked my tires and indicated the sensor needed to be replace. I questioned this since the tires were less than a year old. They offered me pricing on replacing the sensor, but did mention that it would have no affect on my safety, just that I would not be able to see the pressure on my dash. So I let it go for a couple weeks. Came back to have it replaced, since it was bothering me to see the blank display. For whatever reason, when they took a look and another check, it was working again. Not sure, but the explanation was sometimes it just needs a bit of time to reset ? In any case, I was happy to have my sensor working and the pressure displaying on my dash. I was not charged for anything. My experience here was so awful it's hard to find somewhere to start. I brought my car in for an alignment as it was pulling to the right and has been since I purchased it. When checking in, I was asked if there were any issues and that was what I told them. A little over an hour goes by and it's done. I was advised by a different tech that since it was pulling "under acceleration" they wanted an additional half hour to diagnose/troubleshoot possible bad engine mounts. I did NOT say it pulled "under acceleration", but it did give the alignment tech an excuse to take my car out for a hot lap as I could hear them driving it aggressively. I declined the additional half hour as I know my way around my car very well. I am very disappointed that my car still pulls to the right, whether under accel, decel or just cruising. Irritating to say the least. Now to the really gritty part! They do a complimentary 'comprehensive' inspection, according to the receipt I was provided. They check a large list of items (as pictured on the yellow receipt) but to note, TPMS light, tire wear, steering/suspension, leaks, shocks/struts, fluids, lights, brakes, etc. It's hard to say what they actually checked! Half of the page wasn't filled out, so we'll definitely assume they randomly chose to skip those items. TMPS light is noted as being "off", but I assure you it is "on" as two of the tires are missing sensors. They checked that the tires were all in the "green" range and with no alignment wear, however I posted pictures of the two rear tires which clearly have a lot of inside toe or camber wear, nearly to the point of needing replaced. Shocks, they checked out "green" but both rear shocks clearly have oil seeping down them. Suspension, "green" as well but look at those cracks in the two suspension bushings I posted. I am aware of an obvious axle seal leak but that wasn't mentioned in the report and leaking is listed "green". I couldn't get a good picture of the engine mounts, but they did not have any cracks in them like the bushings I pictured so I believe that part of their request to be unnecessary. I definitely won't ever come back here, I wouldn't even take it back to have them correct the pulling as they clearly can't be trusted. What a complete waste of money and an embarrassment to the Big O franchise. read more

Came back about 4:40pm and they were able to get me in before closing and get it patched up took about 20min or so. went in because of a lug nut torque issue causing lug nuts to break off. Job was done fine, however the mechanic ripped my driver side door handle off, after I told the front desk upon arrival that it can be tricky and they might need to use the passenger side door. I brought this up when I picked up my vehicle and the gentleman stubbornly resisted any accountability because the handle was "already broken." Which is true - it would SOMETIMES dislocate from the door-opening mechanism but it was not in urgent need of replacement until the Big O mechanic ignorantly ripped the whole handle off. not a fun experience after an already not so friendly price for a seemingly simple job. read more

I have used Big O for over 40 years, but no longer. After getting a quote for 4 new tires for my Airstream trailer I was then told that the manager the day before going to have the tires replaced that policy had changed, and unless they can lift the trailer with their jacks they would not do the job. My response then go buy jacks that will lift the trailer correctly. Just plain wrong to loose a life long customer and 2 generations over this. Les Schwab did the work and I never had to disconnect the trailer. read more

I recently changed over to coming here. I was going to tires plus and after my oil change. Was 150$ after A 25$ coupon I knew I was being charged too much! I called this place and they were like, we can do the same amount and same oil for 120. Tires plus would not install a new headlight or brake light for me that I bought. I just wanted them to charge me for the install time. This place did and they did it so fairly. For 30-40$ they installed two new headlight bulbs that I got at ORiley's. And they installed the brake lights I got from there for free. I just tipped the technician. Their deep and super club style bucket waiting chairs are also very appreciated. read more

I went to this location to have my windshield wipers changed and the check tire pressure light looked at. They charged me around $80 for "new" windshield wipers and told me they charged them. They absolutely did not. During the storm a couple of weeks ago I quickly found that I had the same windshield wipers that were worn and just smeared the rain around. Avoid at all costs so you don't get ripped off. read more

Working several times with Danny at the front desk, I have always walked away feeling that I was well taken care of and my concerns and questions were addressed. My car was driving rough. My tire tread looked good, but the tires were seven years old. The car was checked out and I was told I needed new tires and two control arms. They kept the car for nine hours. I drove it home for about a mile. The next day I drove it to an appointment four miles away and noticed a grinding noise when turning right. I took the car immediately back to BigO. I waited for three hours while they worked on my car. The employee told me my car was fixed and gave me the keys. I told him I wanted a receipt to see what they had fixed. He started typing on his computer and told me I got a new axle. The invoice read "Removed and replaced the driver axel due to the previous technician leaving the wheel hub centernut loose and compromising the threads on the cv axel". If I haven't noticed the noise, the axel could have failed. I could have been badly injured or died. Won't be going back. read more

I got online on Sunday October 5th and made an appointment for the following Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. the appointment was accepted. I had put the make and model of my vehicle and specified I needed an alignment. Monday, I called to make sure they had the appointment on their books and I was told it was all set. Tuesday morning I arrived at 10 minutes before 9 and was told by a very disgruntled female employee that I was not in the system. She then told me that their alignment machine was down. She went back to double check then returned and told me it was working. She then went out to my truck to get info, came back in and told me it would be 1 to 1 1/2 hours wait. I went to the waiting room and 1 hour and 40 minutes later returned to the counter to check the status. The guy at the desk said he'd go check on it and returned to tell me that they couldn't do it there and I'd need to take it to a dealer! WTF!! If that was the case they should have known as soon as the truck info was entered and I wouldn't have wasted my time. Very bad business. I won't go back. read more

I was told the tires I needed were in stock the day before, as it turned, out, they weren't. I went to the store at 9AM on what was going to be installation day. I was told it would be approximately 2 hours for the tires to be replaced. I went in to the store at Noon to ask if my car was finished, much to my chagrin I was told they hadn't even started on my car. I got a call from them at 2:54PM telling me my car needed an alignment. Knowing the car repair business, this was no surprise. I told them to go ahead and do it. At 3:31PM I got a call telling me my car was ready. I did business with Big O in California and received the same level of customer neglect, I should have known better, Oh well, there won't be a next time. read more

This place has really gone down hill. We've taken our three vehicles to this location since we moved to south Reno in 2015. Over the past year or so the level of service has dropped dramatically. We've had small issues in the past with small oil leaks after an oil change and forgetting to return our lug nut key but they always rectified the issue promptly. No harm, no foul, shit happens, I get it. Recently we took my wife's car in for an oil change and tire rotation. After a few days we noticed some oil drops on our garage floor. I got under the car wiped any excess oil away from the drain plug but the problem persisted. I called them and they said bring it down we will make it a priority and get it fixed for you. Mind you, this isn't a huge issue the drain plug could've been over tightened or under tightened but I wanted it fixed. I drive my car down there and wait in line and I'm behind a lady that's upset that she's been waiting an hour and a half and her car still isn't even on the lift yet. She complained that she had an appointment and they literally told her that they could go get her keys and give her her car back or she can wait to have it serviced. Hearing this, I wasn't impressed with the customer service they were providing her but that's not my battle to fight. After she leaves, disgruntled, I tell the employee my issue and that I had called prior to coming and was told to bring my car down and that they'd make it a priority. The employee then tells me I'll need to leave the car with them or be prepared to wait 2+ hours. I respond by telling her that's why I called prior to bringing my car down so that I wouldn't have to drop it off. If you were too busy, why wasn't I told that when I called? She replies that there's nothing she can do. So I talk to the next guy on the desk who seemed like a manager but I can't be sure and he says the same thing! I tell him this should be a quick fix, put my car on the next available lift, see that its leaking, either tighten the drain plug or replace the gasket, refill the oil and we're done. I'll wait the 30 minutes and be gone. Sorry, no can do. We are busy. So I paid $160 for an oil change (synthetic) and tire rotation and can't even get someone to look at my problem that you created for 2+ hours? Needless to say, I left and won't be returning This was a relatively small issue that could have been solved with some basic customer service. We will be taking our vehicles somewhere else from now on. read more

This is to comment on the response from Big O regarding my negative review. I stated in my review that I had booked an on-line appointment. I also received a CONFIRMATION. To this you wrote: "We also want to apologize for the miscommunication with your online appointment. We understand how frustrating it is not to receive a follow-up. While our online scheduler can be helpful, we've found that calling the store directly is often the most reliable way to confirm and coordinate appointments." You admit that there is some type of problem with your on-line scheduler. If this is the case, why is it being used? Nowhere on your website does it say that you scheduler is just a "suggester" and is not actually good at setting appointments. If your preferred method of scheduling appointments is to be by phone, indicate that on the website. Your Web designer and I.T. people have clearly launched a system that was not ready for prime time. read more

I have been several times, and have never felt like I had a good experience. Takes forever, even with an appointment, I went in for a basic oil change (at 11am), which shouldn't take more than an 1.5-2 hours tops. They took their time, I had to call to see what was going on and all they did was up sell me on things I probably didn't need, without quoting a price, and I didn't get my car back until right before they closed at 6pm. So with an appointment at 11am, they couldn't finish until basically 6pm? 7 hours? I also watched half their staff goofing off from the Maverick outdoor seating next door. Not going back. read more

I don't write reviews normally. I went to have the battery changed. I was told that the alternator also was bad and was shown the scan proving that fact. A $200 battery turned out to be an $1154 cost. I left the car to be picked up the next morning, but before the pickup time, I received a call from Brian, the service writer, who said the mechanic wanted to do additional testing on the alternator and found that it was indeed still good. I didn't need that alternator. What was so impressive is that too many mechanics would have just said they replaced the alternator and charged me money that I had already approved. Instead, their honesty was remarkable in that we've all had bad experiences with auto mechanics. Big O proved to me that there are good, honest, auto repair stores in Reno. Having once owned a Dodge agency, I know what I speak. I'm writing this to thank them as the donuts weren't enough. read more

My wife had an appointment at 7 am for an oil change. She shows up at 6:50 to be on time and ready and at 7am walk up and is told my the two shop workers out front that the opener has not arrived and that they are not open yet. She goes back to wait in her car. At 7:45 she sees everyone g inside and proceeds to head inside for her oil change, along with the THREE other people and cars waiting for services at 7 and the doors are still locker then a counter staff proceeds to come out and tell my wife in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner that they are closed and dont open until 8 o'clock. This location needs to figure out their staff's attitude and scheduling. They have some serious attitude do not go to this location its not worth the inconvenience. My wife had called to set up an oil change first thing in the morning, they set her up an appointment for 7am in the morning. My wife shows up at 6:50 ready to the appointment and she watches two of the shop workers standing around out front. she goes up to the front door at 7 to go in and it is closed and the two employees tell her the opener is late and they arent open yet. My wife proceeds to wait for 45 minutes until a counter sales rep comes and opens the door so my wife proceeds to try and go inside for her 7am appointment and is told several times very rudely they dont open until 8. this is a terrible location the staff is rude and disrespectful. they need to get their hours and staff straightened out they will never have mine or my families business again. I have been a customer of Big O since 1991. I have never had nothing but good experience. Reviewers that insist on one star reviews are people that have full of anger issues unrelated to cars. Recently my wife passed away and I had a serious money problem for a while. I needed a tire so I could stop riding on my spare tire. I have been well off and I have been poor. But Big O always went beyond the call. They have always found a way to make things work for me. I went to the Kietzke store most recently and told them what I was up against. They went way over the top and got me going. I actually slow cried in the store. I do not use the word spiritual easily. I consider the act of helping me at the Big O store to have been just that. One star is a very harsh rating indicative of true abuse. I have read the one stars and reject their bs. I have not seen any thing like that in 30 plus years going to Big O. Get a life. read more

On 3/7/2025 while on the freeway my overheat light went on while driving (It scared the heck out of me) and was able to get it to my job. I had my Chevy Trax towed to Big O Tires on 3/7/2025. Driver said I probably shouldnt take car to BIG O. I told him that my children took their vehicles to Big O and that they trusted them. I sat there all day when I was finally told that they did a diagnostic test and it came back that it needed a coolant hose, coolant connector (remove and replace) did a coolant flush, added coolant and disposed and the total would be $412.52. It was finally fixed I thanked the girl that helped me, I asked if they went through the entire car and she said yes, everything was fixed and there wouldn't be any more problems with my vehicle. On 3/14/2025 I called Big O Tires again and talked to Maddie. I told her that the heat once again wasn't working in my vehicle and that I was scared that the same thing was taking place again. I told her that I would bring my Chevy Trax back to her on 3/15/2025 first thing in the morning and she said that once it was dropped off she would have it looked at immediately and let me know what was going on with it. She assured me that she would keep me informed every step of the way throughout the morning while it was being looked at. While driving home on the freeway the evening of 03/14/2025 the overheating light came on again! I had to call AAA again for the 2nd time to have my vehicle taken to my apartment and that they would come back first thing the next morning to have it towed back to Big O Tires (by that time Big O was closed. I called first thing in the morning to have AAA come to get my vehicle and also spoke with Maddie letting her know it was on its way there. Maddie said she would keep an eye out and let me know what they found out. My vehicle was dropped off and I received NO calls from Maddie. Hours passed and still no call and I spoke with someone else there that told me the car was there but it still hadnt been looked at. I called several times through out and Maddie seemed to always be busy doing something and I kept waiting for a call that never came. Later I called & I spoke with a gentleman there and he said that Maddie was out on a drive and that my vehicle still hadnt been looked at. This was around 12:30 or so. I received a message from Maddie at 1:36 saying that they got my car looked at as soon as it was dropped off. Hmmmm?! I had called at least 4 times that day and everyone I spoke to said my vehicle hadnt even been looked at yet and that it was still sitting where the tow truck dropped it off. Why lie?!!!! She claimed that she called but that I didnt pick up when she called or call wouldnt go through. I had NO missed calls and no problems receiving calls either. Another lie. She in text said that there is now a leak coming from the opposite side of the engine compartment and it was coming from the water pump and thermostat housing and that everything was checked last week and that unfortunately they didnt have the parts and it now wouldnt be fixed until Monday. She sent me another itemize quote and this time it was going to be over 1300.00 to have it properly fixed. I told her that I didnt understand why this was not found just a week or so prior at the first time being there. She pretty much told me that they did check everything and that it happened because I drove it making it my fault. I had no vehicle to get to work on Monday. In her quote I now needed a water pump, a kit, thermostat with housing and sensor, underhood labor, cooling system drain and fill service, water pump lubricant and cooling system protect, super radiator cooler, dex cool/multi vehicle coolant oil disposable fee. Totaling over 1300.00. She said it would be ready by Monday. I told her I needed it to be done by 2:15 pm on March 17th because I am a dialysis patient and cannot miss a treatment due to my renal failure. She assured me it would be ready. Monday came and I received no calls from her at all. I finally called and asked for her and she was once again not available. The gal that I spoke to on the phone said that my vehicle was still being worked on and it would not be ready until much later. I told her that when I heard from Maddie she said it would be ready for me to pick up and so that I wouldn't be late for dialysis. I received a message saying my car was ready for pick up and went to pick it up. They ended up only doing part of what they said. Upon reading it was now said that there were several things that were recommended for me to still have these things done to my vehicle. So not everything was completed! Many of my friends said I was taken advantage of and that a good mechanic would have caught all of this the first time. So disappointing. I am a wreck when I drive my car. Its like I have PTSD and just waiting for problem to happen again because not everything was fixed that I was told would be! So disappointed:( read more

It seems they are only interested in over charging for everything and have become arrogant and complacent about serving the customer. I do not recommend this location for anything unless you want to be taken advantage of, price gouged and poorly served. After trusting them to replace a part on my vehicle with the price quoted, they changed their price and told me they would not warranty their work because I did not buy their recommended parts. Gone downhill in the last few months. Took in car for new tires and an oil change. They said the breaks were fine and the fluids were fine. A couple weeks later we heard grinding noises and we took the car to another shop. The breaks were completely gone and the fluids low. Took in another car in for an oil change and a tire rotation. A few days later the tires were all low. Took it back to Big O and they filled it up with air but said it was because of the change in temperature. The temperature hasn't really changed. A few days later the front right tire was very low. Took it back to big O. They said that they took the tire off and found nothing but wanted to sell us a new set of tires. We drove down the street to another tire shop and they found a nail in the tire and fixed it for us. The other tire shop didn't charge us anything even though the tires were from Big O. I went on their website to order tires and I was going to try to make an appointment online. The website said that I had to call to make an appointment. So I call the store to make an appointment and the guy on the phone says it's a first come, first serve service when getting tires. I start to ask him if I order the tires online and you put them on when I get there? He said no and that he was going to call me back in a few minutes. I called around 4 PM and the store closes at 5. So while I'm waiting for him to call me back, I start surfing the internet looking for tires. I find some on Discount Tires but, I hold off and wait till almost the last minute. It's like 4:57 PM, I figure the guy browned out and isn't going to call so I hit the purchase button and buy the tires online through Discount Tires. A few seconds go by and the guy calls me back just after I hit the purchase button and asks me about buying tires. I told him too bad, sorry. In the end, I really wanted to give these guys my business and give them a chance, but they really have to work on their website and customer service. Yah they're not the cheapest in the area, but I think you're paying for the customer service when you're paying a little extra for the tires. Not that the guy was mean or anything. It might not even be his fault because they could be understaffed. Seemed like a nice guy, but just plain customer service is needed. When you go to Les Schwab you pay up the ass for tires, but their customer service is spot on. Can't this place meet you somewhere in the middle? If Discount Tire does a good job on my tires, they'll have a new customer for life. Big O lost a potential life customer. Too bad. I'm not mad or anything, it's just business. read more

My dad worked at the Big O down in Carson City for almost 20 years and I've used their service in the past when traveling because I know they're reliable, so I called them up right when they opened to get a diagnostic done when my check engine light popped on this morning. Not only did the woman at the front desk (I'm so sorry I didn't get your name!) do a free diagnostic, but I got a reasonable quote for the issue and an appointment this week to get it fixed. I was especially surprised at that, considering I had called all the local shops in my area and they were booked through next week. Thanks, Big O! read more
