Over the last few years I have walked in and been treated in a neighborly fashion. One time I asked to put a community yard sale sign up against the BIG-O sign. No problem. Beware of Rebates!!! Got a Cooper Tire $70 rebate. They sent it to me in the form of a gift card. It expired and local and corporate Big O response was "too bad." They don't reissue. I was a customer for the last 8 years since we moved here, but no more. Just bought brand new Michelins at America's Tire--got a better deal plus instant rebate, no rebate card hassles. read more

Sadly I needed a new set of tires after a mishap on the highway. I went to Big O and received a quote. I then went to my car dealer to compare their price. I don't write reviews very often, not unless I get fantastic customer service or as in this case, an experience so bad that I feel obligated to warn others. The tires on my used Subaru were originally from Big O and when I got a nail in one I figured have them check it out as most places offer free tire repair service so long as they are sold from that store chain. If not I figured I'd pay whatever the minor hole repair would cost and be on my way. That certainly was not the case for Big O as a salesman almost immediately told me that the nail was so close to the edge that the entire tire would need replacement. I knew this to be a load of garbage as I've done many tire repairs myself back when I had more time than money and the nail had more than enough distance from the sidewall to be repaired. Still I allowed him to talk as I've found you can learn a remarkably large amount about the character of a salesman (and his employers) if you keep him talking long enough. After informing me he did not have a new replacement tire he then came back and told me that Subaru recommends you replace all 4 tires as even a tiny difference will in tread will ruin the transmission on an all wheel drive. But he being such a friendly caring salesman was willing to buy my used tires and give me 60$ off my new set. So after going in for a simple flat repair I was quoted for 425$ + tax and I'd have to wait till they got my tires in. After fighting off the urge to burst into laughter and/or set him straight I drove down the street to Les Schwab and had a guy actually -run- out to my car to help me. They looked at the tire and said they could have it repaired within the hour. Total cost was 12$ and they did not try to up-sale me a single thing. I'll never go back into Big O Tire because of this experience, while I understand every business is out to make a buck that does not mean you should do it by taking advantage of your customers. The fact that this entire sales pitch was done at the front counter in front of multiple employees leads me to believe this is a common practice that probably works on little old ladies or less informed individuals. In any case I would recommend Les Schwab or American Tire which is just a stones throw away. read more

I recently had to replace a spare tire for my car. when I took it in to get it replaced I was quoted around $100, so I left it with them. About an hour later Jay the manager called me and said that since it was a spare I should consider a used tire. He quoted me $40 so I agreed. When I picked up the tire I was more than pleased. The "used" spare showed very little wear. Thanks Jay for saving me $60 when I already agreed to pay $100. Thats good customer service! read more

Downgrading my rating a little after I feel my wife was taken advantage some with a alignment up-sale and my wheel cover fell off after I picked up my vehicle. On the positive side I see consistent faces working in the front so that is a good thing. read more

I've been to this particular Big O Tires twice, on both occasions for an oil change and tire rotation. The quality of the work done was what you would expect from a decent auto maintenance shop, but the wait times are horrendous. This is truly the only reason I'm giving Big O a 3 star instead of five star review. Each time I waited over 2hrs to get the oil changed which is a bit long in my book. I've been to the Jiffy Lube in Redding once before and will be visiting it from now on due to their 20-40 minute wait times comparatively. Again, the quality of the work wasn't bad, just expect to wait quite a while. read more

Cannot recommend. I took my car in for tires and an alignment. I was told that I needed other things replaced and camber bolts put on. I had just had a bunch of work done on it. I asked them at the other shop if they knew if it was true. I was told unless Big O took the engine out they wouldn't be able to tell if my car needed the part, and that I would notice noise coming from the front of my car. They also said the camber bolts were fine in my car and didn't need to be replaced. I took it someplace else to get the alignment done and they were able to do it without an issue. read more

My tires were showing cable not because I procrastinate but because I have almost no time to breath. I showed up 15 minutes before they closed,and they not only put on new tires but rotated them in a matter of 15 minutes. Dangerous: brought my car here for an oil change only that has only 17,000 miles on it and it's only had brakes pads done about a month ago at Firestone and now my tire sensor light stays on and my rim is bent. They did ask if I wanted a tire rotation and balance free of charge so I agreed. I took the car back to them immediately and all they did was reset the tire sensor and sent me on my way. The rear tire kept losing pressure and when I looked closer I noticed the rim is now bent. In addition, the car would not stay in my lane when driving and kept swerving and I almost hit another car. I then contacted the person who just did my brakes and they said the rim was not bent and Big O should have not rotated your tires because your smart car has different rim sizes in the front and rear and it states that on the door panel where every trained tire technician looks. I went back to Big O and they said it's not their fault and switched the tires back to the correct positions and said to pound sand. I will now have to pay around $500 to have this issue fixed and all I did was ask for an oil change. I was also told that driving my car with the wrong tires in place probably caused permanent damage so it's definitely lawsuit time. read more

Integrity and Service! I live about 43 minutes from Redding. I took my car to a dealership near my home. My car was there for nearly a month and half and they could not find out exactly what was wrong with my car. After weeks of their inability to correctly diagnose the problem and having spent $450.00 with no success. They told me that they have finally found out the problem and they gave me another quote for $1700.00; however, they added that they are not 100% sure. When I told a friend who lives in Redding, he recommended I take my car to Big O Tires in Redding. When I called, Jay answered and he told me to bring in my car right away. I did and they started working on it immediately. The technician was able to figure out the problem in less than half a day for less than a quarter of the price. I was truly overwhelmed and impressed by their honesty and friendliness. More importantly, the professionalism of their service advisers and their technicians are outstanding. Their word is TRULY their bond. Without question, they truly lookout for the best interest of their customers! Normally I do not write reviews. I am here right now and was told that I would have to pay for the alignment on my car even after I was told to bring my car in and there would be no charge. My car was in an accident and was supposed to be repaired. Geico claimed that most if the parts that needed to be replaced were wear and tear. The steering gear box had to be replaced but I had to pay for it. I did and the alignment. The steering wheel was not straight. The upper control arm was replaced and another alignment. Still not straight. New tires new alignment. Still not straight. Faulty gear box replaced under warranty but no alignment by Bob's Tire in Red Bluff Ca. Was told that sway bar end links needed to be replaced and so did the lower ball joints. End links replaced and on second opinion the lower ball joints are fine. BOB's Tire mad for having to replace gear box. Was told by Big O that after gear box replaced to bring back and they will reading the car. Car needs lower control arm brushing replaced. Wear and tear obviously. All problems are on front left side of care that was hit. Bought bushings at Papa for $50 and brought them here. Labor is 1.7 hours by the book but I am told it is 2.1. Now instead of insurance alignment being done after installation I now have to pay full price for it. I asked about the insurance alignment I was promised and was told the might give me a discount. I only need a front end alignment but I am charged for a 4 wheel alignment. The car is a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis and it rear wheel drive. I have spent over a thousand dollars repairing my car after the front end impact. The car had low miles at the time of the accident. It is impossible fir all these things to suddenly go bad right after an accident and all be at the point of impact and for all of it to just be wear and tear. The only people saving 15% it more on car insurance is Geico. Big O Tire are typical mechanics who screw people over while smiling at you behind their teeth. If you have them buy the parts or buy them yourself they will make sure they make the same amount one way or another. read more

Just went to Kool April Nights with my '65 Mustang and blew a radiator hose and something in the rear end on Friday. Dave got me in and back on the road before the big cruise Friday night. Service Rep Mike was a big help twice in as many weeks when I needed full sets of tires. And the tire crew does great work too. They all went above and beyond my expectations. In most tire places you have to track somebody down to get service. But not here. Here they are Johnny on the spot.
