BAD BAD BAD!!! DANGER!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! Your life is meaningless to these people. I had the worst experience I have EVER had with mechanics at this BIG O. I COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT! THIS PLACE PURPOSELY REMOVED A FUNCTIONAL PART FROM THE ENGINE. I have photo proof!!! They removed a piece from the engine!!! Luckily I realized it before I got on the freeway. First they did the job wrong. Then they didn't want to admit it or make-up for the error. Then, over the phone, they agreed that they made an error and decided to try to fix it. But they made everything worse and obviously and purposely removed an important engine part. I HAVE PROOF OF THIS. It caused damage to my car but luckily I am safe. I feel like they wanted revenge. I confronted them about it but immediately 2 of them ganged up on me and acted in a threatening way. That was the last straw, so I left. THEY ALSO REMOVED MY TIRES' BALANCING WEIGHTS. That's right. As soon as I drove away and picked up speed, my steering wheel shook violently. Once in a parking lot, a took a flashlight to look, and sure enough all of the weights were gone and the fresh metal surface was newly exposed. I was so angry about the missing piece and the removed tire weights. Infuriated. Caused me a LOT of money and hassle but I am staying away because they will treat your life like it it worthless here. STAY AWAY. read more

NOt sure what to say about this place, but I arrived at 920 some odd minutes in the morning. You got a few employees chattering working. The employee tells me about 1 to 2 hours wait time (from 920). I chosen the berkeley location (which I ultimately regret). 1131am: I was told 11am, but now it's 30 minutes after the promised time. Because of a broken lug nut on a vehicle before mines. Yikes!! It's taking quite some time. 1134am my car goes in promptly as he vehicle being worked on is lowered, I hope this won't be a rushed job. Job finished at 1152 Update: immediately, I test drove my car, and the steering wheel seem to go straight, but as I accelerate the car pulls even more to the right... now the worse part is at high speeds the car jerk abruptly to the right, mind you this is about 70+, not to mention during hard acceleration, the steering wheel pulls right also. .... i later find out that is magic that somehow my left front ball joint for the lower control arm broke over a span of two hours. Warning to all future patrons, these mechanics are shady AF. It seems like it was done deliberately to get more money out of customers. Definitely not because of old age of my car 97 lexus. Overall not too happy about this, so I went to A plus tire & wheel in Oakland instead, more trustworthy for a third party wheel and tire shop I recommend this one opposed to the shitty & shady mechanics that seem to smoke cigarettes on sight and laze around. read more

Excellent deal on Groupon for an alignment. Very polite and respectful staff that did a great job. I'm pleased.

Spent $600 on tires at 9am, by noon my tire popped and my car lost control on the freeway. I waited for AAA and brought my car into to be repaired, they were rude and charged me for the tired to be installed!!!!!!! Literally shocked. Stay away!! read more

Wow, this location is expensive. I called Big O on MacArthur just a couple miles away and they were 25% less. When I asked if this San Pablo location could match their neighboring franchise, they said no and that MacArthur is an individual location undercuttung their group of 20 franchises. Price fix much, you guys? read more

Greetings ladies and gents. I'm checking in about my experience at Big O. I had a terrible experience initially. No joke, my dumbass waited almost 5 hours for an oil change with no tire rotation and balance for a damn 35 to 45 minute oil change. I was passed pissed, more like "this is that bullshit" but I played it cool because did the job but they just wouldn't get my business again. Groupon deal or not. But hold up. It gets better. Went back in to use my last groupon. I'm gonna quote that great theologian Biz Markie... "Awww Snap guess what I saw!" It's a new manager on board. His name is Will, not the previous bullshit Will guy that was just that... bullshit! He got me in and out in about an hour and that's about right for an oil change an rotation and balance. He told me about the tires and I already new about my tires situation. Surprise, he didn't try to sell me tires. He made it plain and simple, "hit me up when you're ready for new tires." Hmmm? I told him about my previous experience with the 5 hour oil change. He assured me that he's cleaning shop, pun intended. But it'll be a minute because Rome wasn't built in a day. Since then I bought new tires from this Big O. The place is definitely running better. Give them another chance but SPEAK TO WILL FIRST.... you'll be surprised. He's the man literally and figuratively. read more

DONT EVEN THINK OF BRINGING YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS BIG O TIRES ON SAN PABLO.... This is possibly the worst car service I have ever had done. I brought my car in there for a flat. They first convinced me that I needed 2 new tires, then the sales guy pushed me to 4, with the tread on the other two being halfway. I bought 4 matching tires with warranty and balancing, alignment. Then I got the car back and had a "sidewall puncture" the next day. Cost me another $80. Then when I got home from that the steering wheel was shaky, although it was fine when I brought it in. Rebalancing. Get it home, and it's still shaky. I also notice that they have lost the lug nut key lock that was in the car as well as a screw is missing from one of the lug nut caps. Take the car back in and now "all four of my rims are bent" they tell me. Its two months later and I still haven't heard from them on my replacement screw and cap. DONT EVEN THINK OF BRINGING YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS BIG O. read more

Everyone's experience is different. If you have a bad experience you probably will give one star. My experience was good. The customer service is pretty good, I have no complaints. I was told it would take two hours, it took just a bit more than that. Got new tires which weren't in stock but were delivered in a timely manner, same day. They performed an alignment and kept at it until they got it within specs. Makes all the difference in the world as far as steering goes. Its a '95 Ford Ranger. They offer free rotation and free alignment checks every year or 5000 miles. We shall see if this is true. I'm hoping my future experiences are as good as this one. Stay tuned! read more

2 1/2 hours for an oil change. Go down to Jiffy Lube for better service. These people are as stupid as it gets. 0 stars

Great place to get a tire fixed if you want to pay $35. At least they smile when they tell you how much they're ripping you off for.

Stay away! Far, far away!! I had my car towed there on Friday after a tire blew out and one of the lug nuts couldn't be removed because it kept spinning. I was told the whole unit would need to be replaced. 2 new tires plus unit just under $700. A big unexpected expense but what could I do? I drained my bank account. I went to pick it up yesterday to find they had triggered the alarm and been unable to disarm it so had disconnected the battery ( I have never had any issue with the alarm before ). The guy who I was dealing with was kind and tried to help but couldn't turn alarm off. No one stepped in to assist, quite the opposite as they all looked the other way and seemed to do their best to avoid getting involved. The battery completely drained and the guy had to jump start it. In the end he removed 2 of the fuses so I now have no horn, no alarm and a left side blinker that won't turn off even when I cut the battery which means by the time I finish work today my battery will most likely be dead. So I'm now faced with another expense as I am forced to take my car to a competent mechanic to fix this mess. I work 2 jobs, both of which are dependent on my having a car. No car = no work = no money to pay for repairs to damage done by Big O. This is knd of a big deal for me. All i wanted were new tires. Epic fail Big O! Yes, I got my tires, but I got a whole lotta grief too. You suck Big Time! read more

After visiting with another tire company today, I received very disturbing news that every single lug nut on all four tires were EQUALLY loose and that my tires were over inflated making it dangerous for my van to be on the road. I don't want to make accusations that imply this was an intentional act, but the evidence is quite suspicious considering I only had (2) tires replaced. Regardless of intentions or mistakes, not only was my life put in danger today, but my co worker's as well. The gentlemen that helped me out was very friendly, but I can safely say there is no integrity inside this location of BIG O TIRES! read more

Nice people, decent place to wait, but man you'll be waiting forever. I'm getting some work done on my car tomorrow, and they called me today saying I needed to come in for them to take some measurements. Seemed weird & inconvenient, but I did anyways. It took them over an hour just to take a few measurements, and when I got my car back, they had another car blocking the parking spot they had put me in. Overall just a hassle and seemed to take way too long, but they were nice. read more

What an excellent customer experience! In the evening, when I started to load up my husband's car for a trip to the Sierra the next morning, I discovered that his rear tires had NO TREAD, none! Even though it was the end of the day, and near their closing time, I called Big O Tires. I spoke to Will, who said they had the needed tire size in stock and if we could get there in 15 minutes, he'd make sure we had new tires on the car before he closed. We did, and he did! read more

If you like your car, let alone love your car, don't bring it here. I brought the company car here, which I could give a fuck about. Visit #1: Dropped it off for routine service. Upon my entering the vehicle, the "low tire pressure" warning flashes when I start the car. I have to put up with this annoyance for another 5k miles because the lazy piece of shit mechanic didn't bother to address it. No wait, I know, the sensor spontaneously failed in the couple hours it sat parked in the lot between when they called me and told me it was ready until it I picked it up... Visit #2: I took two of my customers out to lunch. We were greeted with a flat tire after lunch. So I put on the spare, and put the flat tire, the wheel cover, the jack, and the tire iron in the trunk. I pick up the car the next day, and the wheel cover isn't on the car. I figure the moronic mechanic (I already know from the last visit they're some mix of lazy and stupid) left it in the trunk for whatever reason. So the next day I open the trunk, intent on putting on the wheel cover myself, and lo and behold it's nowhere to be found. So I call these asshats about it, and the guy says I didn't have a wheel cover for it. Riiiiiight. I, and both customers who watched me put it in the trunk are all crazy and the lazy high school dropout on the phone is correct. So then the manager Herbert comes on the phone to yell at ME about how I didn't have a wheel cover. Keep in mind, I could give a fuck about this car, but it looks stupid with one missing wheel cover, and I don't want to be charged for it by the fleet manager. If they can't even put the goddamned hubcaps back on a car right, you really think they can do something more complex correctly? If so, you should ask if they're hiring. read more

Im not impressed! The technician who performed my alignment was a hispanic guy.... wasn't sure at the time if he spoke english or not. So I tried to get his attention when he was attempting to visually inspect the steering components by yelling, "AMIGO!" He looked at me and said 2 things., "Im not your amigo and how do u know that im Mexican?"... Ahhh, hello!!! " You look it!! " Then he said im racist for assuming he is mexican.....WOW!! At this very moment all i could think of doing was giving him a running, jumping hi-five! "ITS OKAYYY!"( Never mess with the one repairing your car or the one serving your food) wouldnt u agree? read more

Alright... I wasn't going to post anything because I felt really sympathetic for the guy but thinking about it, he was probably the one who played me from the start. So I go there for an oil change advertised on Groupon. Called and they said it will take an hour... ok I'm willing to do that so I come in, he checks the car and gives me a quote. I sit there to wait for my car to be done. Mind you i see my car outside the whole time.... an hour has passed at this point. So I go up to the cashier to make sure he is putting synthetic oil in my car. As I was doing so, the guy who gave me a quote said my car was ready. So as we were proceeding to check out and I was seconds to swiping my card, It dawned on me that my car NEVER moved. I sat there the entire time and nothing was done! Shady business at this place! Never do business here! read more

They tried to scam me. I came in with a newish car that had a tire with a stealth leak. I needed to either fix it or replace the tire. Two employees came out of the office to look at my car. From about ten feet away they started saying the tires were bald and needed to be replaced. They hardly looked. They tried hard to sell me four tires for around $850 counting installation. I decided to buy one. They wouldn't sell it to me, saying it was dangerous for me to replace only one tire. I walked out. I took the car to the dealership. They measured the amount of tread left. As it turns out, measuring is the actual method to see how close tires are to needing replacement, and the Big O people hadn't even eyeballed the tread from up close. The dealership said my tires have another few thousand miles before they need replacement. And the stealth leak didn't even need the tire to be replaced. It could be repaired. So that's what I did. $20. So watch out when you do business with these folks. read more

If he's not the owner, he should be. 3) Clean and organized service and waiting areas. Complementary coffee; Keurig K cup or regular bewer. 4) Stock photos of Big O stores are useless. Nice store location but nothing like the agitprop pics. See my interior pics signed GDS. Longer back story: My dear wife, driving at roughly at 5-10 mph, managed square off with parking block and 'shock test' my brand new right front radial tire. Additionally the front suspension of my 2015 Ford Fusion Energi was an innocent bystander but wholehearted participant. The tire survived w/o a scratch but I wasn't so sure about the suspension. Enter stage left, this Big O store was offering a Groupon for $47 that covered $100 for a 4 wheel alignment or equivalent general services. Dropped in by appointment around 9am, Car was racked almost immediately and 15 min. later all 12 suspension parameters were deemed well within tolerance. At that point Josh informs me that since an actual alignment was not required the total cost would only be $30 dollars and suggested that I pay the $30 up front and save the Groupon which could be used for a free four wheel alignment 6 mo later. A great suggestion since the Groupon has a 6mo validity date. read more

I really don't like coming here at all as this is my last resort "i have to get this fixed" when all the other auto shops are booked up hence, yesterday afternoon after discovering my stud had been broken off from my rear wheel. I received an estimate from other local mechanics for a 30 minute job for around $70.00 but, they were all booked up until the following week. Last resort, Big o Tires. The guy who helped me was very helpful as this is the first time i got such great customer service here as he checked up on me and let me know what was going on and what was happening next. He informed me the wait will be an hour and the job will be an hour and quoted me $140 (this is the cost on 1 hour labor as i had the parts in hand), It's funny how all the other mechanics said it was only a 30 minute job and Big O Tires takes 1 hour for the job. I also asked them to balance my 2 back tires and at $10 a piece that was a standard rate. However, it took another 25 to 30 minutes for them to balance 2 tires. The first time i came here (with my older car) i got an alignment job done here and it ran me $100 and i waited 2 hours on a none busy day. I know now that an alignment job takes up to 1 hour at a rate of max $80 min $60. They also had a new person who i assume balanced my tires and checked me out. He didn't wash up and my receipts and paperwork have grease and grime smudges all over it and he was hardly getting any help as he didn't know how to charge me and which copy of paperwork i should get (no biggie, he was new to the job) after everything was settled, i got in my car to the new guy running after me asking me to sign more paper work. The lack of team help is what i get from this place that milk the time they finish a job to charge more. read more

I called to get some information on my oil change and they quoted me $60 more than what the other location is going to charge me and then the person just hung up on me when I stated that that was twice as much. I just had the worst experience here: I came in with a flat tire, and they not only took 2.5 hours to put a new one on after saying it would be 45 minutes, they put two tires on for no reason and tried to charge me for them! I can't tell if this was an honest mistake and the guy was somehow confused by the fact that I had a full-size spare on with the flat in the trunk or if he is running some kind of scam. He quoted me out loud the price for one tire, and I didn't catch that he was charging me for two until I looked at the final bill! We looked at one tire on the car. I explained that it was an old tire I had in the trunk when I got the flat, and I was worried it wasn't in good enough shape to use long term. He showed me some wear, and checked the other tire from the trunk that had gotten the flat, showing me the leak that couldn't be repaired. So, new tire. One new tire. We only looked at one tire on the car--but he somehow pulled another tire off and made an X on it so the guys in the back would replace it! They tried to tell me there was a nail in that tire, but when I looked, the only thing they could come up with was a minuscule rock stuck in the tread. The teeny crumb of rock was not causing any problems and likely would have fallen out as soon as I got back on the road. The worst part was that he wouldn't just admit they had made a mistake and try to fix it. He kept arguing with me. He kept going over and over the situation--he was initiating this, again and again, but he never came up with any reason for replacing the second tire. I kept asking him where on the car he put the second tire, and when he finally admitted where he put it, he was sheepish because he knew I had not said anything about that tire. The whole thing was really frustrating for me, took an entire afternoon--it was three hours by the time it was sorted--and I wound up uncharacteristically raising my voice and then in tears when it was finally over. He was yelling too. According to my bill, the guy's name is Pablo. Avoid, avoid, avoid. All the other guys in the shop were really nice, including the ones in the back who did the work. read more

Many previous dealings with this location were pleasant, efficient, and seemed fair. Most recently we purchased a full set of tires for my SUV based on the evaluation that two tires were flat due to "sidewall puncture", vandalism, and required four new tires. I bought road hazard insurance because tires are a huge expense. This week one tire went flat, very slow leak, and I took it back to be repaired. We had been eliminated from their computer system and had to provide our information all over again. Their phone message to let us know the status of our service did not contain a call-back number, and "call back" on the phone went to an extension that is not answered. When we looked up the number and called, we were told this was again a "sidewall puncture" and we need to buy a new tire, not covered by insurance. The customer service was appalling, the attitude terrible, and frankly I feel like this is some kind of racket. I will never do business here again, and will recommend the same to anyone who asks, and many who don't. read more

Overpriced, slow, lousy service and bid close to 2K on a brake job that my mechanic did for $500.

I had been here once for an alignment and it went ok but the last couple times I've called them they put me on hold immediately and never return to the line. So I decided to drive in and just talk to them in person but the odd childish behavior between the guys working there made me feel like they wouldn't know what to do with my car anyway. After pushing each other and laughing they asked me if I needed help so I gave them the tire size and they said they'd come right back with an answer. 5 minutes later they told me they have never carried this tire size but could order it, but after attempting to get on the computer the guy could not figure out how to login.
