I love this pizza place. It's a cute small business with phenomenal food and great service. We love to sit outside with our young children. The service is super friendly and kind. The man running it even brought out chopped up small pineapple for our baby and a free ice cream for our toddler. Super convenient being located in the heart of Corralitos with the ability to deliver to the off the beaten path locations in the area. It's not quite what I expected. I thought they would be more of a seated pizza place but it's better as an order and pickup/delivery for locals. There are a couple of tables outside and one inside. We shared a calzone and it was good but maybe could have had a little more filling. I have no problem going back and getting it again. I wondered about the man and woman (daughter?) from the other posts. The woman was there and she wasn't exactly friendly but she was nice. She wiped down a table outside and put up an umbrella for us. She asked how the food was. It was a decent lunch. read more

I was born in Santa Cruz California and back then they had a Big js pizza on Mission not sure if it's the same owners or not but it brought me back to when I was little . I am pretty picky with pizza. We have tried every pizza company in Watsonville. However, our go to place is Big J's. Even my toddler loves it! The owner is awesome and has even come to our home to make personal deliveries. All the drivers are awesome and the food is delicious! About as best as it gets if you want authentic fresh made pizza. Their pizza is Chicago style, no quite deep dish but the toppings tend to be under the cheese. The pizza is great tasting and all of the toppings are quality and fresh. Best pizza around town. read more

Loved the Meal, the crust is so thick and fluffy and all the ingredients tasted so fresh. My Kids had a little pizza and loved it especially the sauce it has a unique flavor. Me and my husband shared a calzone which was so delicious and buttery. It was a nice day out so we enjoyed what outdoor seating they had. Would recommend for locals and people passing through, I read some comments about the attitude of the people working but the owner Pete gave my kids a bread and was very nice. This is my 2nd review of Big J's. I have lived in the Corralitos area for 6 years. We lived here a few years before that and that is how we found this place. We can't complain about the pizza other than to say it could use more sauce which we always ask for. As far as the owner? Well everyone in the neighborhood knows he is a cantankerous old buzzkill. But what has really bothered us over the years is his refusal to deliver calzones. He will deliver a medium pizza but not calzones. Even if you order 5 he will not deliver them. So this past weekend, my wife had been craving a calzone so we called in an order to go pick up. Only to be told that they are out of calzones. Wait!, aren't calzones made from the same ingredients you make a pizza out of? Yes they are. So after we stared at each other in amazement and cursed the owner for the thousandth time for being such a hard head, we looked on Yelp for an alternative. We found Mangiamo Pizza and Wine Bar in the Deluxe Foods complex on Rio Del Mar and the calzones can have up to 5 ingredients (compared to 3 at BJs) and THEY DELIVER to Freedom and Corralitos Bl. So bye bye you cranky old flibertyfluke (keeping it clean). You have finally abused us for the last time and we will no longer patronize your establishment. You are still the only game in town for people up by the market, but if you are down Freedom, they deliver! read more

The pizza is so good, and I love how it smells when it's fresh. I am obsessed with their pepperoni pizza because they put the pepperoni under the cheese. I enjoy the crust compared to other pizza places with thin crust. I would definitely recommend stopping by and trying it. This is the only pizza that I crave. Small but cute place. We had some bread sticks and pizza. Bread sticks were awesome; fresh, soft and tasty. The folks here was quite courteous. We had a toddler with us and they had some fun playing with him, while we were eating. I love this place!!!! The calzones here are incredible!! The best I have ever had and we drive 2 hours round trip to get one. The lady who is usually working the counter is friendly but quiet and always helpful. The older man is not as friendly but will warm up to you once you talk to him. I love the freshness of the dough and toppings. They seem to never be "out" of ingredients as most places are and they are so consistent. The ONLY reason for 4 stars is they don't serve beer which just goes great with a calzone or pizza. I will continue to come back as long as you guys are here!!!! read more

Big J. I am a fan. I LOVE pizza. I think it might be the best food of all time and if I had to choose one food to eat everyday for the rest of my life pizza would be it. My boyfriend and I got Big J's last week because we were too lazy to drive into town for Round Table and we will be back. We got one of their vegetarian pizzas and were pleasantly surprised plus it is super convenient if you live in Corralitos. This is deep dish style pizza so the crust is super thick and I think some of the toppings go under the cheese. I like to drizzle honey on the crust end as a special treat ( a tip I picked up while eating at a pizza place in San Francisco). This place is mainly for take out and the only tables are outside. This place is like a short getaway. Calzones in the mountains. Take a short drive, sit in the patio and kick your feet up to enjoy the mountain scenery while you wait. I think it's "J himself" cooking these top notch calzones in his small pizza workstation. He's a rather cranky old man, whipping up some delicious tasting food. The calzone crust is perfectly browned and buttery outside and soft and steamy inside. It's a perfect calzone, every time. Went to this place after visiting some family friends in corralitos. Never heard of the place and friends said it was ok so we picked up a pizza to take home to the the kids. Wow big disappointment. The pizza tasted very undercooked and we just got simple pepperoni. The flavor was ok. It didn't have enough sauce for my preference. One of my kids and me felt sick the day after eating this pizza...upset stomach is no bueno. Place has good reviews might have just caught them on a off day but might try again some other time that my husband and I go visit our family friends or are in the area. We go to watsonville quite regularly but this pizza place seems to put of our way to go to soon but we'll try again some day read more

First time here and I liked it plenty. I'm selective about pizza, let's just say it's not my favorite. I don't go out of my way ever to order it, but wanted to try these guys since they are conveniently located close to where I live. They boast a Chicago style pizza, I lived in Chicago and this is the closest to a thicker crust Chicago style I have come to around theses parts, the toppings are pretty plentiful and of good quality. As far as the cantankerous old man behind the counter that another reviewer had written about, well I think he may have passed on the torch to possibly his daughter who was very cranky.
