Had Big Green Q today for first time. It was good. Nothing that I'm gonna rave about though. I had their special pork belly sandwich. It was a lot more bun and coleslaw verses meat. You couldn't really even taste the pork belly. Wife got the special philly of the day. It had good flavor. Definitely better than my sandwich. Now here is downfall. Their sides are $3.15 each and come in very small paper cups. Can't really even call the Cups lol. 3 bites and my side of beans was gone. If someone is gonna spend that on a side it could be a tad bigger. I will try them again at some point but not rushing to go back. read more

Tried the Big Green Q last night as they were parked at Trucks and Taps. The hubs got the smoked cod tacos and kiddo #3 got the loaded tots. I'm the only one that wasn't a fan of the smoked cod, just not my things I guess. The loaded tots were HUGE. Not sure how you can go wrong with potatoes and lots of cheese?!?! YUM! I came for Trucks and Taps, I knew they had a BBQ truck there and was excited to try it out! I got a pulled pork sandwich with the KC BBQ sauce and it was good! Everyone working was SO nice and very helpful when ordering. My bff got a combo meal with ribs, tater tots, lollipop and wings. There has been activity at the old Sonic on 108th Street just south of Q for the last few weeks so since I drive past this several times a day I was interested in what was going on here. Several weeks ago the Big Green Q Food Truck appeared so I got in contact with them and I found this place will become Trucks and Taps with The Big Q, The Dire Lion, Wonton John's that will include an are with a bar, a sort of Food Trucks meet Food Hall. I was extremely excited because I am a huge Food Truck fan and I was not disappointed. On their menu I first saw Brisket dinner and then I saw that their meats are from Wagyu so I was set. The dinner comes with two sides, and having read good reviews on their tatted tots I chose them and the Rice and Beans. Let me say this first, this was probably the best Brisket I have had and I had not put their hot sauce on yet. The seasoning was just right, it's saltiness made the day, it's tenderness was perfect. The Tatter Tots were as suggested a world apart. They were like rolled Hashbrowns. And if you put the leftovers in with the Rice and Beans you were left with a treat to come back for. Trucks and Taps has yet to be finished, it is still under construction, but I think the Dire Lion is open today so you will see me there again. read more

Overall this is an excellent option for what really is more or less fast food. They use good quality ingredients and do an excellent job. The staff is friendly and genuinely cares. They are very helpful with gluten free needs and the prices are reasonable. I'll be back for sure. The tater tots are a must try and the pulled pork nachos were quite tasty. I would eat that meatloaf sandwich all over again, very good. Of course sharing space with Ted and Wally's makes getting ice cream a must. read more

I've been pretty excited to catch up with this food truck. Always interested in trying new BBQ especially from a food truck! I went at the right time because there were only a few people ahead of me ordering! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich(slaw on the side), baked beans, 1/2 order of tots and mac-n-cheese! I knew it would be more than I could eat but wanted to try my favorite items! While I waited (for a short amount of time) for my food, they were kind enough to give me a tot to taste while I waited. More on that later! Unfortunately it just didn't work for me. The pulled pork was on the tough side and very little smoke flavor. The ratio of meat to bun was a little weak on the meat side, and again it didn't taste smoked. I was super hungry so immediately dug into my other sides. About the tots...I didn't dig into these since I'd sampled one earlier after I ordered. While I appreciate the fact they make their own tots, they just did not have any crunch to them. My favorite part of indulging in a tot is the fact they are crunchy. These just had no crunch to them. The baked beans had no outstanding flavor to me, however they did have bits of meat in them. My last hope was the mac-n-cheese which fell short. It was made with large shell macaroni and was bland...very pasty and tasteless. They do make their own bbq sauces, and I thought the Carolina BBQ sauce was good and tangy, and the red BBQ sauce was good as well. The food left much to be desired. read more

You'll find a variety of sandwiches featuring smoked meats and veggies, plus sides like cole slaw, mac and cheese, and tater tots. I took what I thought was a risk by ordering the smoked veggie sandwich, which was various veggies, hummus, and mozzarella on a ciabatta bun. It exceeded my expectations. It was smoky, with just the right amount of crunch. Top it was a little of their house made sauce and it definitely gave me some needed energy on a blisteringly hot Friday evening. I follow the Omaha Food Truck Association Facebook page, which notified me of an event beginning today, April 12th. I decided to go since I work three blocks away. The pulled chicken sandwich with slaw was nice. They told me they don't sauce anything, so I tried the sauce offerings. Q Gold and Q Red. While Gold is tasty, it was a bit too tangy for me. The Q Red is mild, just the way I like it. Homemade tots are nice, never had homemade before. Dip in the Q Red, you'll like it. Overall, I like the place. I would recommend the slaw be a bit more moist to compliment the chicken, but that's a minor thing for me. When Big Green Q comes back, I'll probably grab something when I have the hankering for BBQ again. read more

If you want okay food, go ahead and try this place. But if you're a Yelper, please know ahead of time that you should NOT mention that you use Yelp because this place actively dislikes you! This is what they said on FB today: "I don't listen to "want to be food critics" who aren't. Look at our Facebook reviews, square or four square reviews. Yelp is a joke. I understand we can screw up but yelp reviewers are looking for a platform and I'm not about that." I don't go where I'm not wanted. Yelp has helped me as a consumer find great places to eat and shop, and I add my input, too, to help others the same way. There are too many other "okay" places to eat for me to bother encouraging anyone to spend their time or money here where Yelpers are actively dissed. EDIT: I responded to what Big Green Q said about us Yelpers. I got what I think is a very nice apology. This is what she said: Melissa, I apologize for lumping all yelpers together. We have had reviews that weren't bad but if they had any problem, they didn't let us know at the time to try to learn and make it right. We've also had people who don't like someone who works for us, leave a negative review. When I saw last night that you could pay a company to give you 5star reviews, I lost it. Was I incorrect in lumping everyone together, yes. Take it for what it is. I should not have posted that. You should not have posted reviews of us today based on what I said...that too is unfair and not based on our food. Hopefully I've learned not to lump people together." I reminded her that hospitality is just as important as her food since no one wants to go where they're not wanted. I appreciate her apology, though. And I have given her 3 stars now instead of the 1 star I gave her before. A merchant who is willing to come talk with me when there's a problem is worth a lot. The Big Green Q moved to a location close to my home so I stopped for a quick bite to eat . I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and the homemade tots , came to a little over $11 . The gentleman who took my order was very kind , and called me by name each time we talked , I let him choose the sauce which I am glad I did . The sandwich was hearty . Meat was tender and juicy and the coleslaw on it was good. The tots were my favorite part of the meal . Even though the regular side you get 4 , which doesn't seem like a lot they were filling and it was more then enough . Fried to a crispy perfection but still soft on the inside . I dipped them in the BBQ sauce to add a bit of spice and it did not disappoint . The spot that they are at is lovely with plenty of outdoor seating and other food trucks have a permanent spot there also . There is also a walk up window at the building there where you can order drinks . Driving by you definitely see a lot of people sitting around and enjoying themselves . Strange and Stingy Note - This is posted on the location within the Ted & Wally's in Benson. Oh, I so wanted to like this place more! Sad : ( With all the great places in Benson to eat, they really need to raise their game if they want to survive. The food is way over priced for the portion size and the service, though friendly enough, was tortuously slow. We ordered two sandwiches - a Parker's Meatloaf and the Carolina Reuben - $8:45 a piece, with a side of chips n salsa $4.95 (see photo of empty containers). Only one other table in the place and still had to wait an eternity for our food to come out. When it finally arrived the sandwiches were on the small side and one was incorrect. When we pointed out the mistake they begrudgingly took it back. No apology. We then waited another lifetime to get the correct sandwich. While tasty enough it had a small hair in it. Also, even after a long discussion about no sauce, it of course had the sauce on it. Go figure. The chips and salsa while quite good, came with a ridiculously teeny amount of salsa for the handful of chips. The whole experience was strange and stingy. Too many other great places steps away. OK, I really wanted to like the smoked bacon wrapped meatloaf but it was not to be. The meatloaf was overloaded with oregano or something. The reg bbq sauce was good and soaking the meatloaf in it helped out. I may give them another chance with a pulled pork or brisket sandwich since the sauce was good. The bun on the pulled pork sandwich elevates the overall taste to a level worthy of a sit-down restaurant. They call their amazing potato creations 'tater tots'...they should be renamed because your taste buds can not believe that something this delicious has been invented. This is just average. For what I paid (over $10) so not worth it. The tots were terrible and seemed like a ball of grease (old grease no less). The pork seems to be chunks of pork roast that should be shredded but is not and falls off the bread. There is no flavor to any of this food and salt is a must.
