Great roadside diner in Cloudcroft. Food was good but the staff really make the place shine. Just had a simple club sandwich and a ham and cheese, but both were well made, good ingredients that tasted fresh. Fries and tots for sides and a couple of sweet teas to wash it all down. This restaurant has good food. The service is good also. The building is right off the road, which is very convenient. It is definitely a home cooking restaurant. The pies are fantastic. I have eaten at Big Daddy's on 3 occasions. 1st two occasions had the burgers and fries, both my wife and I enjoyed our meals. Portions are large and very good. My only wish is for the buns to be a bit smaller. Third visit I had the pizza, this I did not care for, can't put my finger on it, but had a weird taste I didn't care for. My wife had the fish and chips. She enjoyed hers and again large portions. We will make Bad Daddy's a regular stop when we are in the area. read more

Was in town for the day last year and after a nice, refreshing hike, I decided to find some food. Have passed by Big Daddy's before, and decided to give it a try. Parking is a little tight, but I managed to find a space. Then I headed in to get seated. Service was ok but not very attentive. Server seemed a bit busy, so I think that is understandable. It was steady, on a weekday. Ordered a burger and side. Food came out fairly promptly and was pretty tasty, as I recall. This place was alright for a hot meal. Ambience is a little sparse. I had the fried chicken and this it was tasty, it was way over cooked. The kernel corn came straight out of a can - absolutely no taste (at least as some butter!!), so mixed the corn with my mashed potatoes and gravy and it was delicious. French fries are great. Huge tasty cob salad. Milk shakes are good. Everyone I was with seemed to enjoy their entrees. Service was excellent/attentive. Because there was 8 of us, we sat in the big room in the back and they had the windows open and so it was a little warm that day but we didn't really mind because we were already sweaty from hiking that morning. We got there with about 1.5 hours before closing and this short girl with died red/ pink-ish hair kept rudely telling my group to go eat somewhere else and kept repeating that it would take "2 hours" to have the food done (after the restaurant would be closed) and the place was not busy at all. I'm not sure if she didn't like our group because we weren't from town or because of the diversity of the group, but she was unprofessional and rude. The best thing about our meal was the service, which was great. The food was all bland though. I had the green chili stew and it was flavorless with iffy meat in it and barely cooked potatoes. The fried chicken was truly awful. No flavor at all and weirdly tough meat. All of that said, it was packed, so maybe it was just our meal. This place had unbelievable good fried chicken. Also, the chicken noodle soup was also as good as the chicken. The potato wedges were excellent along with the blackberry cobbler. Unfortunately during this pandemic they couldn't make Bbq for some reason so we will try that when we come back. Breakfast here could have been better... coffee tasted like water, after we asked for another cup same thing... just not good. Got our order wrong but didn't fix it.... and the service and food was just less than what we expected... lunch and dinner have always been exceptional. If you are going to eat here don't do breakfast.... There are a bunch of other places that do a great job in Cloudcroft for breakfast. However lunch and dinner have always been amazing here!!!
