Update: This place was closed for a little while because they were short staffed, they are also working on renewing their liquor license so no beer is being served at the moment. They still have live music and delicious food however! I love their BLT's, Meatball subs, and the Heartstopper burger is absolutely delicious and will satisfy even the biggest appetite. Their onion rings are so delicious, they remind me of Sonic onion rings which are my all time favorite. If you're not looking for beer and simply want a delicious meal then look no further. This place will satisfy. The place is clean and so are their bathrooms. A very chill place to have a nice ice cold beer and some yummy food. I absolutely love their French Dip Sandwich, it's delicious! Packed with roast beef, cheese and a delicious au jus sauce to dip it in. I also enjoy their Philly Cheesesteak and their Country Fried Chicken Sandwich. Both filling and tasty. When it comes to appetizers, you can't go wrong with their fried mushrooms. The service is good, the staff is friendly. Prices are comparable to others in the area. They do offer a variety of beers on tap, the selection changes periodically so it's a great place to try out something new. They also have beer on cans and bottles, as well as a nice selection of wines. This place has a very relaxed atmosphere, kid friendly. If you're hungry, give this place a try! Honestly, try their French Dip Sandwich!

Poor Service Poor Food Poor Management Service received an 18% tip , then did not deliver my order, about 30 feet from where I was waiting on their outdoor porch. Food was horrendous. Bread on my "Ruben Hamburger " was soaked through so thoroughly I almost used a spoon to eat the slop! Management forgot (the second year in a row) to renew the liquor license. A special kind of STUPID! No beer.

Update. 8/30/23 Noticed the sign outside Daves today. Music 6pm -8pm T/W & sometimes weekends. Nice!!!! Decided to drop in for dinner and drinks with new friends i meet up here on the mountain top. Solo guitarist, music was nice and relaxing. Enjoyed it. Thks for having music. Next, a dancing place in Cloudcroft, please. Staff were on top of it. Moving about providing excellent service.

My favorite thing to eat @ Dave's is their French Toast. The bread they use is delicious and has the proper amount of crispness when you bite into it, while maintain a fluffy center. Burgers and the Reuben are also excellent choices. Good selection of cold craft beers, great prices, offers breakfast lunch and dinner and they have an ice cream shop in the same indoor shopping center.

After a 10 mi hike this place hit the spot. They came thru with a cold beer and the most delicious well seasoned burger cooked to perfection. I ordered the Willy and it was delicious. I like that they leave it up to you to add mayo ketchup and mustard. The fries were good. My only gripe is they didn't have fried mushrooms which 8ve heard are delicious. They ran out so that says how popular they are. I enjoy the friendly service and hometown feel. You can't help but feel like family. Everyone in our group enjoyed their burgers. Will definitely stop again and hope I can get the mushrooms.

Chuck was our waiter. We were a table of 11, he did an amazing job taking care of us. We ordered the fried asparagus, fried mushrooms, BBQ chicken burger, chile cheese burger, magic melt burger, Willie burger, garlic mushroom burger and the Billy Bob. Everything was so fresh and tastefully prepared! I have no complaints about this place. I am sad to see such few stars here. The fried asparagus was the best!!!Thank You Chuck for your excellent service!

Worst fries I've ever seen. Mushy and just jammed in a paper wrapper so they came out in a potato blob.

The businesses all put their heads together to create a magical place where there are everything from sundry stores to acute log cabin church, to strip malls that are decorated in a log cabin style, feeling with rustic signage, Christmas lights everywhere and they even adorn the driving path with lit snow snowflakes. One thing that made me laugh was there is a hardware store with 101 Dalmatians decorating it out front! So back to big daddy's, you walk in and it is a wonderful local feel to this place, rustic design, super friendly staff, the foods brought out quickly, and it was hot and fresh a huge menu of items to choose from!! There is plenty of parking and lots of space to sit, including a bar area. We ordered the fried pickles - they were outstanding! I had the triple chicken tacos soft and hard shell they were homemade tortillas and shells and just delicious! The French dip was also ordered to our table and was huge order with onion rings. Soooo tasty! 5 stars!

Now, I've never been to a drive in before so it was really a novel and fun experiences. They come up to your car and take your order and deliver the food to your car. Had the enchiladas that was touted on the menu as "REALLY GOOD". And yup, they were really good. My sister had the chicken tacos with the crunchy shells. Tasty as well. We would recommend this place when you're visiting White Sands National park or just in town.

In fact, good luck finding many things open in the great state of New Mexico on any given day, except for the cannabis shops conveniently located approximately every 25 feet. Hi-D-Ho Drive-In is open on Sunday evenings, should one not be able to find much open in Alamogordo. To be fair--the food was relatively mediocre and affordable. The tacos tasted like nothing-special tacos, and the enchilada tasted like a nothing-special enchilada. Service was good. The lady taking orders and running food was really great. Ambiance was charming. Burgers smelled amazing. It was a really great experience that I appreciate having had. Then I went inside to pay. And oh lord... oh dear, sweet, benevolent lord... this place is filthier than the filthiest punk-rock squat I have ever stepped foot in. Holes in the floor stuffed with cardboard and covered with a mat? Oh yeah--right in front of the register. You can't miss it! Cabinets that appear to be rotting (or was that mold? Or was it just caked grease?!) from the bottom up? You're darn tootin'! Every single surface covered in clutter and caked in grease? You betcha! That's just the stuff that stuck out. But that's also like being able to describe a fire engine-red loveseat in a landfill and not really recalling all of the other horrors. This place was disgusting! Like... the background of one of those humanitarian aid commercials, all rolled into one tiny little kitchen counter area. Now... to this place's credit. No one got sick, ill, had any stomach issues, or even got indigestion--which is more than I can say about the A sanitation score place down the road from me at home. So, I refuse to claim that the food isn't stored correctly, prepared correctly, or otherwise contaminated. In fact, I am really impressed that the food that came from the Hi-D-Ho kitchen, that I put into my body, did not kill or harm me, but in fact nourished and comforted me. So... I would never go here again knowing what I know now. If I still lived in ignorant bliss and returned, I'd get the burger (smelled amazing). And whatever you do... don't go inside. If you do go inside, wait until after you've eaten, then go inside. If you then go inside, take off your shoes and turn your socks into a blindfold. Stumble your way up to the register, conclude your transaction, then feel your way out and put your socks back on. Better yet, just stay in your car. Get your food carried up, give them your form of payment, have them run it inside for you--but DO NOT GO IN!

Lescombes Winery & Bistro - Bistro Comfort Without Leaving the Room…read more After a full day hiking around White Sands National Park and a quick wine tasting, we hit that point where getting dressed for dinner felt like too much effort. Delivery it was, and Lescombes came through. Ordering was easy, delivery was quick, and the packaging? Surprisingly solid. The kind of containers that make you feel like your food might actually survive the journey intact. Small victory, big appreciation. We went with Brussels sprouts, pecan pesto and marinara meatballs, and a roasted beet salad. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The standout was definitely the pecan pesto meatballs. Rich, balanced, and honestly the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite. The only thing missing? A proper glass of Cabernet to go with it. That felt like a missed opportunity on our part. One small note, the utensils didn't quite match the quality of the rest. A bit flimsy and underwhelming compared to the sturdy containers. Not a dealbreaker, but an easy upgrade that would elevate the whole experience. All in all, a great option when you want something a little nicer without leaving your room. Sometimes the best dinner is the one you don't have to get dressed for.
