This is a great little restaurant in Cloudcroft. Had dinner here and the food was good. The Spanish rice was the best I ever had and the tacos are not over fried. Returned for breakfast the next morning and that was also good. Both times service was friendly and helpful.

My first visiting Cloudcroft and I was in the mood for diner food. This place did not disappoint! From the kitsch decor, featuring ceramic figures and vintage photos to the friendly and helpful waitress to the delicious and generous meat loaf and REAL mashed potatoes, it was a great experience. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I try to reserve 5 stars for the VERY best so it remains meaningful

My favorite place to have breakfast in the morning. I love their coffee and it's $1 a cup!! I'm a sucker for breakfast, just a good ol' American breakfast, and they do it right. I've also had their meatloaf which I enjoyed, it was moist and hearty. Their hamburgers are delicious, it's one of my favorite items. Their chicken strips are deliciously seasoned so you don't even need sauce with them, but I love their white (country) gravy with them. Now if you're in the mood for something smothered in gravy get their open faced roast beef sandwich, it's so DELICIOUS! My favorite item on their menu. As far as service goes, they have some of the nicest waitresses in town. They are friendly and attentive. If you're passing through or vacationing in our beautiful town, breakfast, lunch, or dinner here won't disappoint. They also have various dessert items that will satisfy any sweet tooth.

This is the restaurant's version of Huevos Rancheros. Two eggs, hash browns, cheese and flour tortillas

This was a real surprise. Delish coffee for only $1, along with a yummy breakfast and great service. Lots to look at as there is a very interesting cookie jar collection on the walls. The wood burning stove was a nice touch on a cold day.

Fantastic service, lots of tasty food. If you're staying in or around Cloudcroft, you will have to find yourself here for breakfast. The omelettes are huge and the plates are so good. In New Mexico, it's all about the green chiles, so don't skip out The kids enjoyed a Paddington boot, with a side order of eggs. I ordered the lumberjack, which is there version of a biscuits and gravy griddle. I recommend the western potatoes. The portion was filling and then some. Coffee is always hot, and the servers keep you topped off.

BEST Breakfast in Cloudcroft! Everything is cooked to order, fair prices and huge portions. My favorite thing to order is the Hiking Boot Omelette and add swiss cheese on top. OMG this omelette is amazing. 3 egg omelette with sauteed mushrooms, zucchini, squash, spinach, tomatoes and onions. Keep in mind these vegetables are fresh and sauteed al dente, which contribute significantly to the flavor and texture. Personally I think the swiss cheese takes it over the top. They are using real swiss cheese, not a cheap processed version. The omelettes also come with your choice of potatoes and bread.

Pancakes are huge, order the short stack!

Great diner, would recommend the pancakes to anyone looking for a "from scratch" pancake! Very friendly folks running the place too!

Everything was so great about this cute little place! The hospitality, the decor of the room and the food and service at the cafe. We loved our stay. I would recommend requesting room #14 if you're a Harry Potter fan.

This is a review for the cafe. Solid spot, cute decorations. You seat yourself and they'll bring you the menu. The servers were busy, but friendly. I ordered the chicken fried steak with western potatoes on the side and my partner got the varquero boot. I thought the gravy and steak could have used more seasoning. But the western potatoes were good. My partner really enjoyed his dish. Solid breakfast spot.

We eat here pretty often, and always enjoy the food, especially the breakfast! Their breakfast crew are always so amazing and friendly! I love the small town field of this restaurant!

Make your own omelet with western potatoes.

Food took a while but the place was packed. I would say the food was good. Not great. Loved the French fries tho. The wall says made from scratch but it wasn't sadly. Saw a box on the counter from Sysco that was prepared pepper gravy. Plus you could tell there food we received was not made from scratch. Would we go back?? Not sure. It was definitely better than a Dennys.

The chicken fried steak was very good with white gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and a toasted biscuit. I always toast my biscuits at home, but this was the first time a restaurant toasted my biscuit and it was great. Service was prompt and coffee refills were provided when needed. I've decided this is my go-to restaurant for comfort food. Since my first visit to Rustic Cafe a month ago, I have eaten there three more times. I tried the hamburger steak with grilled onions and mushrooms on my second visit. It was very good too, but the mashed potatoes and mac & cheese sides were only Lukewarm. I guess I could have sent them back, but the steak and brown gravy was hot enough. The mac and cheese was nothing to get excited about. On my next visit I tried the BLT on Texas toast. It seemed a bit small for the $8.99 price and the mayo tasted a little weird to me (I only use Best Foods mayo at home.) It did include plenty of thin crisp bacon, but I had trouble biting through the tomato slices since my top and bottom front teeth don't quite touch. On my last visit, I had the Rustic Cheeseburger (medium) with onion rings as a side. The 1/3 lb. burger was very good, and I thought the quantity and quality of the onion rings was excellent. Only after I got home and looked at my receipt did I realize that I'd been charged a separate $1.49 for onion rings that were supposed to be included as side with the burger. I didn't really mind the extra charge since they had given me so many onion rings and they were the best I've eaten in many years. On one visit, the waitress gave me a 10% senior discount that I've not received on any other visit, so I don't know if this is a policy or just at the discretion of the wait staff. I know others have complained about slow service, but I'm retired and always bring my crossword puzzles with me to work on while I'm waiting, so I've not really noticed if the service is slow. Rustic Cafe is not advertised as a "fast food" joint, so I am happy with the speed of the service. My servers have always been pleasant and accommodating to any of my requests. Breakfast was always my favorite meal, and I'm pleased to find a place that offers breakfast all day. That'll have to be my next visit though.
