Big Chicken Town is usually our go-to spot in Surrey for fried chicken, especially since Surrey doesn't really have many good Korean fried chicken options. Price- and portion-wise, it's pretty solid and good value overall. Personally, I find the chicken to be more on the heavily crusted side, which might be why the portions feel generous. That said, it's still pretty decent and hits the spot when you're craving fried chicken. Would come back again. read more

Adequate Korean style fried chicken to fill basic comfort food cravings. Most chicken is offered in full or half portions so you can try out different flavors. The original golden crust chicken flavor was good, but could use more basic salt and pepper seasoning. The honey garlic chicken was good in the beginning, but started to have some weird artificial taste after a while. Some parts were doused in too much sauce and ended up soggy. The onion rings are my favorite kind (like the thin ones seen in cheap Chinese food buffets), but skip the weird honey mustard dip it comes with. Service was nice and attentive when needed. If this place works on minor kinks it does have potential, especially being open later hours for late night diners. read more

One of the first places in Guildford to introduce Korean Fried Chicken (and one of the best!). Been coming here for years, and it's still one of the best places for delicious chicken (and beer!). There have been some slight changes over the years, but everything is still as good since my first visit!. Dont sleep on the corn cheese dishes; they're just too darn good . The staff are also very friendly and accommodating, especially during Covid times. My one wish is that I lived closer to this place to that I could have more korean fried chicken in my life. read more

Listen up and read this respectfully. If you plan on going here, don't think twice about it. Just go, YOU WONT REGRET. Service: 50/10 I don't even think that's a proper fraction but you get the point. It's AMAZING. Im going there as much as I can. Everything on the menu is worth the price trust me. Don't think twice when it come to this specific location. I tried ti give them an extra tip and unfortunately they wouldn't take it. Everything they do is genuine and they make everything with heart and love. 10/10 100% coming again and I'm telling more people about this. read more

Yummy in my tummy! My friend and I ordered a cheese soonsal, fries, a bowl of rice, and a half order of the golden crust chicken with an Asahi beer. We definitely did not finish all of our food but had delicious leftovers the next day! The fries reminded me of costco fries and were delicious. The rice helped breakup the richness of the cheese soonsal and all the fried food. The original golden crust chicken in itself was very juicy and had the perfect fried chicken crust. Lastly, the Asahi beer was perfect to wash it all down. I'd say the amount we ordered would've been perfect for 3-4 people. However, we didn't mind having the leftovers. Service was slow when we came around dinner time on a Monday. Also, it does get a bit awkward when there's not a larger waiting area and people watch you eat at times. Other than that, loved it here! Already have plans to come back. :) read more

First time eating here with family. The decor was upbeat and place was very clean. Nice variety of seating types with tables and booths. Menu selection offered and interesting and nice variety of chicken choices. We tried a number of half and mixed orders. All delicious. Nice mix of spicy and sweet dishes. Presentation of dishes was inviting. Couldn't wait to dig in. Get a few rice bowls. Works well with the chicken. Chicken was crispy, nicely done and not over cooked. Sauces and decoration all edible and delicious. The only detractions were the small bowl of coleslaw with thousand Island dressing that was brought to the table at the start. It was just enough for a bite each. Nothing special. Suggest something more colorful to match the bouquet of colours with the food. All said, experience was great and will definitely come back. read more

Pretty good! I got the cheese soonsal, and the portion is pretty huge with lots of chicken for$25! I appreciate that it was 95% chicken and 5% rice cakes, really got my money's worth :) one thing I would mention though, is that the staff aren't the friendliest... and the pickled radish is extra! What!? For next time, I'd probably ask for the sauce on the side because the chicken wasn't crunchy anymore! Don't know if they do this though haha! read more

Best Korean fried chicken ever. Volcano chicken and Garlic chicken are to die for. Sad that they stopped making side salads, those were the perfect accompaniment to their chicken. Fries are great. read more

This restaurant serves some amazing fried chicken. This was solid comfort food after a long day and this place opens late until midnight. We ordered garlic chicken, BBQ chicken and rice. A complimentary side of coleslaw and pickled radish was provided. Cold water was served promptly. Food arrived with within 10 minutes. Chicken was perfectly fried. BBQ chicken tasted as it should. However, the garlic chicken was not spicy as I was expecting for a two spicy pepper symbols on the menu. I was also looking forward to slices of fried garlic, but they were mixed in the batter. Still a good dish, but I was wanting a spicier kick. Need to order the volcano flavour next time. Service was okay from the servers. The restaurant was busy so we had to flag the servers for attention to order food and get the bill. The best part was when myself and my date were looking around for a server, this older man shows up and asked what we wanted. We said coke. He gets us a can of coke and told us it was free!! How can I take a full star off for service? I would rate this a 4.5 star experience for the food and free can of coke. Also, we could not finish all the chicken so now I have leftover chicken for the next day. read more

Take out only, I ordered volcano spicy chicken. The chicken is boneless but it's not super spicy even it's has 3 chilly on the menu. The dish is not all chicken there is rice cake as fillers. The size can only feed 2 and taste average compares other korean chicken place. read more

Big Chicken Town is a nice restaurant located in the same plaza as T&T Supermarket, a few minutes away from Guildford Town Centre. It serves Korean style chicken along with other Korean dishes. The restaurant is a bit small and seats are limited. You can expect waiting for a table for roughly 30 minutes during the dinner rush, so plan ahead accordingly. The restaurant is well kept and has a warm ambiance. The hours are a but weird, open 5 to midnight on most days. The service is decent, not bad but not amazing. They give you the bare minimum of effort and only go beyond when you ask them, if you have an empty cup of water, you have to speak up to grab their attention. The food is delicious and there's lots of flavors to choose from for the chicken. Their most popular dishes are the cheese soonsal and corn cheese. The portions are large which reflects their prices (roughly $18 per plate of chicken), so you can share a plate of chicken between 2 to 3 people. You can either have the chicken as a meal or have it as a snack while drinking as they do serve alcohol there. Overall, Big Chicken Town serves amazing food and is a great place to go for dinner with a small group of friends. Recommended as a place to try! read more

I came into this restaurant, started of shitty. I wanted to sit in a bigger both because I'm a bigger guy. The girl said I can't. When do you stop saying no to a guest with who feels uncomfortable sitting in a smaller place. So I sat in a smaller place and was so uncomfortable. As I confronted her she didn't know what else to say. Just kept on saying we can't sit here. She obviously doesn't know how to deal with guests Our server was Asian, black hair worked on Tuesday, may 2nd/ 2017 from 5pm I work in hospitality. These people have no training in guest services. The food is good, but it's not worth the shitty experience. I couldn't eat because I was so uncomfortable sitting in a smaller place. In what restaurant do you go to and get refused to sit in a booth. Our server ignored us the whole time and took a long time take an order. My girlfriend had to go up to her to order our food. The food took 35min to come out to. She also served people first that sat after us. But that's what you get when you get a kid to serve you. It reflects on your business. read more

The best fried chicken I've ever had. Two best dishes on the menu: Black Yummy and Green Mountain (the latter being my fav). Don't be afraid to order a half size plate of chicken, they were very large portions. This meal, paired with a pint of Grandville Island ale, fully satisfied. Beats chicken wings any time. read more

Some of the best fried chicken I've ever had! Food came out hot and fresh. The portions are huge, my boyfriend and I split an order of the half & half (half sweet and spicy chicken and half plain fried chicken) and it was enough for two meals for the both of us. The dishes are served with cabbage, you can get steamed rice with it but it's an extra dollar. I've seen people complain about the service and I totally get why. It's not your typical western restaurant; the meal is supposed to be like a whole event so service does seen really slow and you have to go up to the counter to pay when you're done. You have to flag down a server, they don't come check on you every couple minutes. But if you ask for something, they're very quick to bring it to you. The food took a while to come out but we went with 5 other people, so it was a lot of food for our table. I think next time we'll order take out, but we'll definitely be back. read more

Big Chicken Town lives up to it's name. Authentic Korean food experience. While the environment and decor is casual, the food is consistent and has high-end lasting flavor. The staff is courteous, friendly and very attentive. Highly recommended if you like Korean food in general. A gem. read more

Used to really enjoy coming here but lately it's been not so great. The service is a little bit on the slower side. One really bad experience with them was when the waitress didn't tell us they were out of rice for the night until we already ordered and sat down. It wasn't even that late that day either (8:30pm) Haven't been there since. read more

I went here for the first time and got the garlic honey chicken and chicken with cheese and rice cakes I forgot what it was called. They were both very tasty. Tasty food, love their Green Mountain, and Black Yummy chicken. Always a great place for KFC - Korean Fried Chicken. Kimchi Fried Rice always a favorite, however might be a tad spicy for some. Chicken was great, except they ran out of rice. It would have been 5/5 with rice!! Service was alright. I'll come again. Hopefully next time there will be rice!!! read more

Hands down my favourite fried chicken place. I crave this place even though I live so far away now. Anyways my favourite flavour is the black yummy. It's a soy and garlic based flavour. The chicken always comes out hot and crunchy. I love that the chicken is boneless. The salad and pickled radish pair perfectly with the chicken but I always order a side of white rice as well. There's usually a wait so come early. Service can be slow at times when it's busy but be patient, the food is worth the wait! read more

I liked this place before, but I have to agree with other reviews when they say that of late, the service hasn't been all that great. The place itself is quite small, and waiting for a seat takes a really long time. One thing that made me upset is their waiting list--they leave it out front for you to write your name and come by occasionally to check who's next. My sister and I came with her boyfriend once and when she wrote her name, it was fairly high on the list, then someone who came after us got seated before us and we found out they wrote their name above hers! Hopefully they change this system soon. As for food, I'd have to say it's definitely hyped. Cheese soonsal is a really popular dish, but when you get down to it, its spicy chicken with a LOT of cheese. I don't mind it too much since the chicken is boneless and easy to eat, but it's not all that amazing either. Overall it's not a terrible place to go to when you're hungry and craving chicken. Just watch out for those waiting lists though! read more

This place is pretty busy, and the lack of attention from the servers shows as a result. The waiting list is a written board, we had 2 ppl and stood there for 10-15 minutes while 2 tables were not cleared and sat empty. We walked up and they said they have no tables available and that takeout would be 45 minutes, which ended up taking over an hour!!! Ridiculous service and wait. Food is good but service is terrible. read more

Used to my my high school go to, currently in post secondary now and the service has gotten so bad! Waited for over an hour for a table, there were open tables but they just weren't cleaning it. Once we got seated they never gave us their menu, completely forgot about us. I had to walk up and ask for one. Two other costumer left because they've been waiting for over 40 minutes and still no one was serving them. Another group left. Costumers has to constantly remind the servers that they needed menus, water etc. It was horrible. I had to get up to the front to order because they just kept walking past us. The only reason we stayed was because this was my favourite go to back in high school comfort food! Overall good still good just horrible service. Expect a wait time of 40-80 minutes read more

Love this place. It's a small mom & pop place. I love that the cashier is the daughter of the woman running the kitchen. The service isn't Ritz Carlton, but they try real hard. Ajumma was so nice that I had to wait, she gave me a free Coke. Don't expect KFC speeds here. Just relax and enjoy the chicken. If you're nice, they do try harder. read more

Huge fresh portions. Eastern style service (waited too long to be seated) service was w a smile and pleasantness.

Their chicken is amazing. The black yummy is so yummy. They're open late which is nice cause not a lot of places are open late in Surrey. I find the price really reasonable too especially with the portions you get. Small restaurant though with not very much seating. Wish they were open for lunch. read more

The service was ok, the food was mediocre as well. Whenever I eat fried chicken I expect it to be crispy but it wasn't really at all. Staff was really nice though read more

For some reason, my oldest son absolutely loves this place and would give it 4 stars. He convinced his younger brother to choose this place for his birthday dinner - wouldn't be surprised if there was a bubble tea bribe somewhere in there too. We went and we let him order: cheese soonsal - on a hot plate with lots of cheese and rice rolls ... By the way, all the dishes use the same type of fried chicken pieces. Half orders of garlic chicken, honey garlic, and sweet dream chicken, which has a special mildly spicy sauce. We got rice and they provide a light cabbage salad with a thousand islands type sauce. Overall, the chicken was good. Essentially they just put different sauces on it. For me, it is different but not somewhere I would go on a regular basis. I do wish they would fill the water containers they put on the table without having to ask. read more

This is my favorite fried chicken place!!! It is so good!!!!!! I've tried the Sweet Spicy Chicken, Golden Crust, Green Mountain, and Corn Chicken. They're all really good, but the Corn Chicken is my absolute favorite. If you like the Corn Cheese appetizer, you will love Corn Chicken because it is basically Corn Cheese on fried chicken!!!! The portions are very generous so you can order two larges for three people and have plenty to take home. The restaurant isn't very big so you have to wait during peak hours. Also, the food can come out a bit slowly, but it's well worth the wait. The service is good - the waitresses there are very nice and prompt. I'm so glad to have discovered Big Chicken Town!!
