Original chicken sandwich in take out packaging
Randy W.

I recently checked out Big Chicken in Rosemont, the newer chicken sandwich and tenders spot owned by Shaquille O'Neal. I ordered two sandwiches: the Original Chicken and Uncle Jerome's Nashville Hot. I kept both simple with just pickles, Chick-fil-A style. First impression: the chicken portions are solid. The breasts were the same size or bigger than what I usually get at Chick-fil-A, so no complaints there, you definitely get a good amount of food. The Original Chicken was fine. It tasted good with the pickles, but honestly could've used a little more seasoning. Nothing bad about it, just kind of average and not super memorable. The Nashville Hot definitely brings the heat. It's got a real kick, which some people will love, but for me it was a bit overpowering and took away from the overall balance of the sandwich. Also worth noting, both sandwiches were very greasy. I expect some grease with fried chicken, but this was a bit much and made them heavier than they needed to be. That said, the location itself is a welcome addition. Rosemont doesn't always have a ton of variety, so it's nice to have a new option in the area, especially one that's easy and casual. Overall, Big Chicken is worth trying, especially if you like big portions and bold flavors. With a little less grease and better seasoning balance, it could be a lot better--but as-is, it's decent and a nice change of pace for the area.

Chicken strips fries and coleslaw

The server was very engaging and polite and helpful. First time at the established. It was a fast food type. Food portion was worth the pricing. The chicken was tasty. Didn't care for the side order of coleslaw though. There was lots of seating options. Bathroom and whole establishment were clean and spacious. I enjoyed my order of chicken strips and fries with drink.

Ahhh the chicken here is so good! Its a walk up counter service and the chicken is like if the flavor of KFC combined with the breading of of chik fil a. Its tasty and fun and has great sauce choices, the ambiance is a bit sporty spice, And fast casual vibes!

I was excited to try Big Chicken on my way to O'Hare after visiting friends since ours isn't open in Orlando yet. We picked food up to go before my flight and relatively early after it opened so it wasn't very busy yet. Had we been staying, there was plenty of seating in a comfortable atmosphere with a bonus of an NBA Jam arcade game in the corner that I wished we had time to play! The staff was so friendly and offered recommendations, answered questions, etc. I tried the Original sandwich- chicken, fried onion, mac & cheese, and BBQ & garlic sauces. The chicken was pounded flat which left lots of flavor opportunity in the breading, plus the combination of sides loaded on the sandwich plus the sauces was great. The bread was standard, but the sandwich itself was so flavorful. My friend got the tenders and a side of fries. We saw pictures of wide plank fries, but he was given crinkle fries which were quite good. He said the tenders were also very good. I'm looking forward to the Orlando location opening so I can try more from the menu!

Original with fries, unfortunately overcooked dry chicken breast. Fries and drink were fine.

Saw that restaurant was owned by Shaq, so decided to eat here Friday. Floors were sticky from spilled soda. Service was polite and prompt. Food is cooked to order. Ordered original with fries. Lemonade was fine. Fries were very good and fresh. Unfortunately, the feature attraction chicken sandwich had an overcooked chicken breast. Chicken breasts are easy to overcook, if cook is not paying attention. Cooked at 165 degrees or slightly lower. Anything higher will dry the meat out.

Worth a try but nothing too exciting in any direction...not super good and not super bad. Even if there is a line they move pretty quickly. I did enjoy the large pieces of chicken in all the sandwiches, fairly tasty but could use more seasoning. The sauces weren't too bad, they had one similar to chick fil a sauce and a bbq sauce. The Mac and cheese was just ok, also on the bland side. Decent size parking lot but shared with some other spots. Pretty typical quick casual dining establishment.

On my first visit I was impressed with the clean store and friendly staff. Hip music is playing but it's not so loud that you can't have a conversation. They even have beer and booze to go with your chicken! No so impressed with the prices though and the food took a while even though they weren't that busy. The sandwich looks like a pork tenderloin, that's a huge slab of meat. It was well seasoned with a good sauce. It's a notch below Chick-fil-A but better than most fast food chicken. Second visit: Picked up food for the family and Disney on Ice had just gotten out from the nearby Allstate arena so they were full of hungry families. Can't really blame them for a long wait with that many people, but it was a really long wait. Two chicken sandwiches, one order of fingers, fries, sweet potato fries, and a shake cost $45. We all agreed that nothing in the order was worth $45. Everything was good, but nothing warranted the cost. For me there's just too many choices with a lower cost, faster service, and just as good or better chicken.

The food was very good. I'm a tough critic when it comes to chicken sandwiches Becuse frankly, I've had about a 10,000 or so it feels like. The overall meal was very good and absolutely worth it. I would give it a 5/5 but unless you're a James beard or Michellan stared than I give you a 4/5 for top place! If you can't decide go here!!! Worth it!!! Everything was amazing!!!

My thin patty that takes up half the bun
Jessica S.

I heard many great things about this place, but when I came with a group of friends and our significant others, I didn't see what everyone else had seen in this place. To be honest, it's a glorified fast food restaurant that just happens to be connected to Shaq. Overrated in my opinion. Upon walking in, the place looked clean, and the workers were extremely nice. One of the managers even came to our table and asked what we all ordered. We all ordered our food at the counter, and I thought it was expensive for fast food. If my food was amazing, I could understand the higher prices, but it was disappointing. For my husband and I to get a meal with a sandwich, fries, and a drink, it was almost $40... at a fast food restaurant. After you order, you get your drink at the fountain drink area, and then you can sit anywhere that's open. Then they call your number on your receipt, and you pick up your food back at the counter. As we all were getting our food, I noticed that my sandwich was laughably small. The chicken patty was so thin that it was literally folded on the bun to make it look thicker. In addition, it only took up half the bun, and it was very dry. My 3 friends and I all ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich, and their sandwiches looked a little better than mine, so I'm not sure why mine was so puny and gross. However, looking at the pictures on Yelp, none of ours looked as thick and juicy as those, so I'm not sure if we just came on a bad day. The flavor was fine, but nothing special, and it didn't taste like a Nashville hot sandwich. My one friend really enjoyed her sandwich, but my other friend and I saw nothing special about the food. My husband knew right away I was disapponted because I threw half my sandwich out. The fries were okay, but nothing special. Most of the time, I'd tell a restaurant that I don't like the food, but because this is more of a fast food restaurant-type place, I felt uncomfortable doing so. Also, if this place was as amazing as everyone claimed, then the cooks would have seen the way my sandwich looked, and they wouldn't have served it. Overall, I definitely don't feel I need to come back here. There are SO many chicken options nowadays because it's so popular and trendy, and I can go somewhere closer to my house in Schaumburg instead.

Thank you Shaq for a pretty decent chicken spot! This place is very casual and serves as a fast food joint. Customer service was great - the cashier made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Food was very good! The presentation was clean and the food tasted fresh. Love that they have a sauce bar so you can try different ones for FREE!

I had a short layover in O'Hare, and had to get a food to take on to my next flight. I checked out the options between my gates, and this chicken place looked like my best option. It was between this and pizza at the pub place down middle of the terminal. They had kiosks to order or you can scan a QR code to order online, which was super convenient. I didn't end up having to wait in line, ordered on my phone, and my order was ready within minutes. I ordered the 4 piece chicken strip, which came in about 6 or 7 small pieces LOL. I guess it was good that they didn't give me just small 4 pieces. There was a variety of sauces to choose from. I was curious what their house sauce as like, but ended up playing it safe with honey mustard since I was in a hurry. The chicken and the waffle fries that came with it were both good, and easy to eat on the plane. If you are pressed for time, and looking for a quick bite, then this is your place to go.

M.D.E. Anything but basically delicious
Meg R.

Friendly service at the counter and a good time to come at 9:30pm. There was a steady stream of families and adults waiting on their order and ours came up quick! We learned that the tenders have white meat, but the popcorn chicken is the dark meat and all the sandwiches are made with white meat which is great. And another difference of what you can get here and we will have to try the popcorn chicken next time. And take advantage of the sauce bar for dipping options. It's a simple setup inside to eat. Only thing is seeing the garbage overflowing in the corner on the way was the only part of the dining room that looked like it needed some attention. Great chicken sandwich! The M.D.E was perfectly delicious! Note no line at this time of my visit and a plastic tip cup out.

Big & Sloppy Chicken sandwich

Do you like chicken sandwiches? I tried Shaq's Big Chicken restaurant at Rosemont. How did it stack up to the other chicken sandwich places? Let dive in: Ambiance Big Chicken is well lit and has many tables for seating. What is nice also is that it was bustling when I visited. I would say the noise level was up to have a regular conversation but it might have been due to a lot of customers there. What was fun also was a NBA Jam arcade machine hidden near the entrance. Service Service was pretty good. The lady at the counter gave us some recommendations. Apparently not all big chicken restaurants have the same dessert menu. When asked if they had the ice cream sandwiches, they told me that it wasn't available at this store. They did have the big cookie available though. I am not sure if the staff were supposed to wipe the tables down, but they were pretty busy. The table that I went to was kind of dirty. I ended up wiping it with some water from the soda dispenser. I did spot later some wet clothes near the bins. Food Big & sloppy This chicken sandwich was accompanied with fried onion, Mac n cheese and some Shaq sauce. The chicken is well cooked for a slightly thin breast. The fried onions added to the crunch and a slight hint of onion flavor. The Mac n cheese did not really add to the sandwich for me. Alone, the Mac n cheese was pretty good, but I felt it did not really add to the sandwich. The Shaq sauce was okay. It was similar to the respective sauces from other chicken sandwich places (cane sauce, chic sauce). I dipped the sandwich in some spicy chipotle bbq sauce and felt it tasted better. Fries Hmm... the fries were different then French fries you are used to. They were flat slices of potato similar to hash browns which were not shredded but sliced. I got different textures where some were crispier. These were okay for me but might not be for everyone. Drinks... When you read that they have a really good strawberry lemonade, you just have to see how it measures up. It did not disappoint. Not overly sweet or sour, it have a very nice balance and gives a nice refreshing feeling when drinking it. I also had a chance of trying the sweet tea as well, and that was very tasty as well. It was sweeter than the lemonade, reminiscent of a Lipton or Snapple iced tea. Also had a nice refreshing taste which did not make you feel bloated due to carbonation Overall... I enjoyed eating at Big Chicken. Though the chicken might have been slightly thinner than some other chicken sandwiches I had, it was very well cooked where the chicken was still juicy. If I did go back, I would definitely try a different chicken sandwich just to see what else Big Chicken has to offer. They did have some different options for sides, which would be worth looking into. As for my first visit to Big Chicken, it was a very positive visit and definitely worth exploring the different sandwiches they have to offer.

For those who don't know, Small Cheval is the fast casual version of Au Cheval which I've had the opportunity to try in NYC. There's plenty of locations throughout Chicago so definitely make it a stop when you're in town. Now is it as good as Au Cheval? Definitely not but at one-third of the price point, it's hard to complain. The beef patties are well-seasoned with crispy edges and just the right amount of fattiness. My main complaint is that there wasn't nearly enough dijonnaise sauce or pickles, making this pretty dry. The bun was nicely buttered and toasted but almost took away from the contents inside the burger. The Famous Fried Chicken Tenders were also a good try. I could tell the chicken was clean & high quality but there was some flavor I couldn't quite place which made it a bit off-putting; thankfully it wasn't super noticeable especially with the sauces. The Golden Fries were delicious and paired well with the burger & tenders! Even the Cookies & Cream Milkshake was solid! Classic milkshake with a good balance of creaminess, sweetness, and texture from the cookie bits. The interior was also bright, spacious, and comfortable! All in all, really solid try!

It's like going to a burger place with a bar inside. I would also have to add with a side of a malt shop thrown in. The lady who took our order was very friendly. Both her and the guy making the shakes seemed competent and efficient. They were both just over worked. There was a rush when we came in so it put them behind. Everything was in good repair. There was no damage to the seats and tables and for the most part they were clean. The things that didn't work for me were the possible understaffing, and the lack of a good onion. I asked for raw onion on my burger. I inspected my burger for it and couldn't find it. So I asked for some more. She was very helpful and handed me a tiny container of minced onions. Apparently that's all they have. I do like a good slice of onion on my burger. If you're looking for a good quick bite to eat or a very tasty shake, this is a great choice! I would come back if the mood struck.

A short fuse and a close call…read more After Emily and I checked in to our hotel room, we wanted to stretch our legs and see if there was anything nearby for some beer and some food. Turns out, Short Fuse was right up the road and a 5 minute walk got us there. For a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but not dead, so we got seated right away. We ordered some beer and took a look at the menu. While nothing really struck our fancy, our waitress made a comment that if we did want any food, it might be slim pickings as they were running out of stuff. Turns out, this day was the last day they were open. Talk about timing! After she mentioned that, I started to notice that people were buying bar signs and various other things. Emily started off with a Guava Gose and I grabbed a Krankshaft kolsch. We sampled each other beers and we both really liked what the other ordered. I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time.
