Passyunk Double Passion Bowl to go!
Aimy T.

Finally went in for the first time. Christine is so lovely, she let me sample the sauce before ordering. I chose the Passyunk Double Passion bowl since I like salmon, eel, and mango. It was really fresh, all the ingredients were good. You can also mix your own bowl and there's a good variety of toppings to go on sushi rice, brown rice, or salad. Will definitely come again, she's currently on break for Labor Day!

It's a nice and clean place. Very friendly staff. You can build your own or choose from the signature bowls. I took a star down because the bowl is not full. I ordered both the salad and rice base. The container is made of plastic instead of environmentally friendly cardboard. On the good side, the eel is awesome. It's served warm with great flavor. The fish is fresh too with unlimited toppings. Free WiFi and complimentary water.

Great staff and service. Fresh food. I love this place because I can walk right in, pick out what I want, and be out within 5 minutes with a big portion of food! What else could you want?

Excellent Poke place! Service- Attentive, very nice and helpful. She offered all the home made sauces for me to try which were amazing, especially the house sauce and ghost sauce. Food- I got the poke bowl special which came with a soda and miso soup for $12 something. It was very decent and filling portions, I love how many topping options there were and that I could have unlimited. I don't like going to any Poke place where toppings are limited.. thats just wrong. Anyways, the flavors tasted fresh, and I even tried a new kind of seaweed I hadn't had before and really enjoyed it. Only complaint here is I don't drink soda or tea so I wish it wasn't an upcharge for bottle water/chocolate milk. Atmosphere- Your typical poke place. There was a nice sitting area across the street that I ate at. Enjoyed my alone time.

Cute little poke spot on Passyunk. The staff was super friendly even though she was the only one working and there was a line of people waiting to be served, her energy was great. She even offered me samples of her 3 special sauce - black sesame was my favorite. I customized my own poke bowl and she was really generous with the serving size. I even got a free sirarcha sauce because we spent over $20. The bowl was delicious, however, mid way through my meal, my stomach was not feeling the greatest. My boyfriend also felt the same. It's most likely the salmon and tuna that was not very fresh. Love the service but I'm not sure if I will be returning just based off of my experience.

Delicious poke. Went there for my first time. Cute little place. 4 seating high chairs at the front. Patio in the back for warmer days. Courtesy lemon water if you're not getting a drink with your meal. They do have a lunch special which is one protein poke and a 22 oz drink that I will come back and try. The poke I got was a good amount and they do give you unlimited toppings. Everything was well prepared and freshly made. I wish them the best of luck on Passyunk Ave and will be back in a few weeks.

I came here because I noticed a new business on Groupon and brought it. I love that there is finally a poke bowl and boba place on Passyunk and gave it a try. I got the Big Catch and Passyunk Double Passion poke bowl, both are amazing! I added extra eel to both to give it a more savory taste. The ingredients are fresh and it taste great with brown rice. I couldn't even finish mine in one sitting. I will definitely come here again. Christine and the other girl are so nice and quick and knowledgeable. I really hope this place becomes permanent on Passyunk!

The poke itself was very fine. Not a lot of options in either the fish department or the toppings department. And there are up charges for a lot of ingredients I feel are typically standard, like seaweed salad. I also got a creme brûlée drink which was definitely not worth the money. It feels mom and pop which I appreciate and do feel like with some small additions to their poke options this could be a nice spot if you're in the area.

The…read morefolks who run the place are super nice and attentive, definitely family-run, and because of that I am going to do what I can to support this local business because we don't need another chain joint in our area. And good on them for taking a risk on Bala village where few retail businesses have been willing to invest. Similar vibe inside to when it was Trails End but they have opened up all of the internal space for dining so plenty of options to sit inside on a cold day. Lots of take-out snacks and drinks are available for trail users, including a nice selection of iced cream bars, coffee, bars, etc. On to the food. I absolutely love ramen, so honestly, I'm happy to have someplace in our neighborhood where I can get a decent bowl. Overall everything was good. Solid bowl of homemade ramen. Not at the level of places like Hiro or Terakawa, but not at all flat and the noodles were well cooked. I got it with shrimp tempura which came with 2 small but super crunchy shrimp that went well with the soup. Also, I got an order of takoyaki which actually was surprisingly yummy. Good texture and flavor came on a nice little bed of lettuce. Again, not the best takoyaki ever, but still pretty yummy. Was happy with the milk tea I got, tasted home-brewed and they got my sugar level just right. The tapioca was just ok. My spouse got a creme brulé bubble tea which was similar to mine but with a custardyness to it that I was jealous of. For a small shop run by 2 people that sells a lot of different things in a super odd location in Bala, this place surprised me with how good it was. I'm giving it 5 stars because they are new and are still building the business and getting the kinks out. I really do think this place can become awesome if people keep going and give them feedback to allow them to make it even better. I wonder if having so many options (poke, ramen, etc) is hurting them as people are used to either going to a poke place or a ramen place. Is it possible to do both types of food really well, maybe. But honestly, I think if they chose one and really nailed it, this place would take off. My vote is for ramen, but that's just because I'm not big on poke and there are already a number of sushi spots in our area. Overall, if you live in the area, and have a craving for some poke, ramen, or bubble tea. Please, support them, and help them get even better! I'm rooting for Platform Z!

However, the food left a lot to be desired. I got the Maui bowl with salmon and tuna. As I watched the older gentleman assemble the food I noticed that the size of the fish was tiny, like very tiny cubes and I've never encountered that at any other poke establishments. I thought maybe he was going to do two scoops of each fish to make up for the size but I was wrong. He did one small scoop of the tuna and then the salmon, but I saw that the scoop wasn't fully emptied before he put it back, so I got half of a scoop basically. Then they proceeded to drown the bowl in a spicy mayo sauce. I honestly can't even tell you if the food tasted fresh or what the marinate in the marinated tuna tasted like and nor can I tell you the texture of the fish because the cubes are that small, and on top of that, you can't taste anything through the thick sauce. For $16 something dollars it is almost criminal for a small lettuce bowl with a few scrap pieces of fish. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place.
