WOW. This is a true 5-star Poke bowl. Why would have thought? Regretfully, I procrastinated trying Poké-man for over 2 years. Given the, "lulzy" name, I guess I expected it wouldn't amaze me. I was very wrong! The fresh ingredients, attention to detail and beautiful presentation were 100% exceptional. I got the customized bowl: ahi tuna on rice with beautiful crunchy vegetables atop. I am essentially salivating thinking about having it again. The inside seating area is nice enough and there's a few screens around to place orders. I want to go back again (tomorrow?). I ordered a Create Your Own Deluxe Poke Bowl which came with a choice of 3 proteins. You have your choice of 10 mix-ins to choose from, and double the amount of toppings. The taste was great. The portion was a little smaller than compared to its competitors, and they need to designate which items are gluten-free. If those two were corrected, I would have given Poké-Man 5 stars. Really love this "passion fruit + lime green tea"! It tastes really refreshing after a meal. I added grass jelly & nata jelly, and then milk form on top! Tasted great. Unique to poke man I think is the barbecue eel option which is really tasty. The salmon was also very fresh. However the two stars were taken off because they forgot to put some of the toppings I had asked for and they already limit the amount of possible toppings you can get so that was dissapointing. Furthermore, when I got there I was told my order was already ready because I did it on an app. I appreciate the way they are keeping everyone away from the employees because of covid but none of them came up to me to ask for My order number and they were constantly talking to eachother and it was hard to grab their attentions to ask for my order. After about 15 minutes I was given my order that had been sitting on the counter the whole time out of reach because they blocked off the customers from that area. I usually don't write a review after just a single visit, but the item that I ordered, while good, I would not get again, which is why I'll do an initial review now, and will update in the future. I stopped in on a Friday evening with my partner to order dinner, and I probably should have expected that COVID safety would make some aspects of the experience different than the norm - you can't see the ingredients behind the glass because that area is blocked off. But they have a nifty iPad style ordering station where you can choose and customize your order options, and you get a text message when your order is ready (about 15 minutes). The entire ordering process was quick and easy, and theservice was prompt. . Since I couldn't find reviews for the poke burrito option, of course that was what I had to get so I could be different. I wanted to compare which of the tuna options was best, so I got both, and plenty of veggie add-ins too, with the Pokeman special sauce. So, what is a poke burrito like? I probably should have guessed, but it's basically like a gigantic sushi roll. The seared cajun tuna was definitely better than the ahi, and the vegetables (edamame, red cabbage, cucumber, carrots) were all great. T]he poke burrito is not a great vehicle for the sauce - I barely tasted any so I added a bit of my own stash of soy sauce and ground black pepper to boost the flavor. My partner got the standard tofu poke bowl option and liked it a lot, though the serving size was a bit small for him. The portion of the poke burrito was perfect for me, though I wouldn't get it again because as far as sushi, I've had better, and I think going with the classic option will work best here. Sometimes being different just for the sake of it doesn't work out as interestingly as you hope it will. I'd really rate the experience more like a 3.5 stars, but I have great expectations for next time- stay tuned. read more

After being to a few chains in New York, I found that this place charges the same for less food - they give a lot of rice/base, but not a lot of fish. Finally got a chance to try this poke restaurant in University City last night. I ordered via Grubhub for pick up - and the service is slow as many reviews had mentioned. Although my order was ready for pick up - it took them a while to get to me even though there was only 1 customer in front of me. Unlike some other locations where the staff is able to multi task and ask the next customer if they are picking up while waiting on the other customer, it took a bit to complete the previous transaction for some reason. The poke was OK. It's slightly cheaper by about $2 than some compared to center city - but the quality matches the price difference. The seafood didn't seem as fresh - I'm speaking for the salmon and scallops. The salmon was very fishy smelling and the scallops had an odd texture. I know that my palate is especially sensitive right now since I just got back from Japan.. but that salmon almost made me sick with the smell and stringy texture. Decent poke at an okay price. We got two bowls with sushi rice: salmon and albacore, and salmon and seared cajun tuna. Good: The salmon and tuna were good, and there's a large selection of mixins and addons -- I consistently get the crab salad, seaweed salad, and tofu skins. Bad: The albacore was overly salty and many of the pieces were overcooked and rubbery. The sauces are good but I wish there was more added, without having to pay extra. Overall, nothing spectacular, but Pokeman is an average option in University City. read more

Moving to Philly from Seattle, I've had a hard time finding poke or Asian food in general. I'm happy to say that I've found my favorite poke nearby! Poke-man has amazing quality fish and poke bowls that I would recommend to anyone who needs a healthy, but filling bowl. It was a little after 9PM so there was virtually no one dining inside and one person picking up an order. The girl taking the order was probably the least friendliest person I've encountered this entire month (we do live in Philly after all). No greeting of hello, barely made eye-contact and spoke in a whisper. When I asked if she could adjust the sugar level in my bubble tea, she just stared at me. So I asked again and she mumbled something and I had to ask her to speak up and enunciate because I could not hear her at all. I eventually made it through my order and paid. She begrudgingly made my bubble tea and then placed it on the counter without saying anything. Cool. As I was leaving, I heard her say in Mandarin to her manager that she was going to settle her cash drawer. Mmmmkay. I guess she was in a hurry to leave but that's not really a great excuse for the piss poor attitude. If you're feeling something more milky, I recommend one of the fruit teas or the cloud mist milk tea. I really appreciate the design that they put into their cups, it makes them look sophisticated as you take them on your stroll down locust. In my opinion, this is the best place to get drinks on Penn campus. Kungfu tea has better boba, but the drinks here are superior. I don't recommend this as a place to chill, it's more of a to go place. That's because their structure has the drink making area inside the shop and there's no sound barrier so it gets loud and it's hard to hear the people talking to you. I've been ordering from here for a little over a year and half and have always loved my take out orders. I introduced poke to my friends and coworkers and they all fell in love with this place too. The preset bowls are great and varied but I really enjoy the make your own bowls which I literally throw just about everything in. The fish is always super fresh, rice is to die for and the sauces hmmmm! I always usually order from grubhub which honestly is probably easiest, I went in to order once and it was so busy and packed. I never realized a pretty famous bubble tea place is also within this restaurant until I went. Bubble tea from here is really good as well. There's a good reason I knocked off a star for Poke-Man. While the food here is one of my favorite poke places in the city, the service is AWFUL. If the folks at Poke-Man got in a race with a turtle, a sloth, and a snail, all three would lap Poke-Man before they even got two feet out the gate. The first two times I got food from here I ordered online. Delivery was perfect. Pickup was crappy because the food was not ready when it was supposed to. And eat-in was horrendous. Order and wait twenty minutes to a half hour or more for a poke bowl. Poke is supposed to be one of those "fast casual" type things. Just about every other poke place in the city will prepare your bowl in front of you as you order. Not here. Order at a register, then wait. They'll make it when they get to it. Which might be tomorrow. In all seriousness, the choices of proteins here (seared cajun tuna, for the absolute win!) beats every poke place in the city. There is by far more variety here than anywhere else. Flavors are top notch. That being said, I would NEVER, ever eat in here again. The service is just THAT bad. Stopped by Sunday to get refreshing drinks after long bike ride in town. Drinks are good, no problem. but the store front was disgusting with hundred of spotted laterns. Just as bad as the T-Mobile right next door. Chipotle in the area fixed the issue once reported on news, it's now clean. does this store owner even care to take action? Bugs are flying everywhere inside and outside. Which makes me to wonder what if there is a chance bug got in my drink?! Eww... I had a pretty solid first experience at Poké-Man. I popped in on a Friday evening and placed an order for two poké bowls. One of the employees helped me out with the menu and some questions I had. I decided to get a bubble tea at the last minute and asked for the black tea but made less sweet. The end result was a delicious bubble tea made exactly to my request. At home, the bowls were also as-requested. I thought some of the toppings were a little skimpy but, overall, still a pretty packed bowl that kept me full for the rest of the night. I'm looking forward to more visits and am happy they use frequent customer cards as well! read more

I usually don't write reviews but I was so upset by my experience. This is regarding the bubble tea place Tsaocaa that is attached to the Poke place which equally has horrible and slow customer service. I had the WORST experience. The electronic ordering machine didn't work so I asked the worker to take my order. He didn't understand how the menu worked and told me I couldn't put ingredients like tapioca into my drink. Then, After 5 minutes of hassle for him to understand my order, he put it in the system and gave us the receipt. Even though he didn't make the drinks yet, he asked for a tip... What? My mom and I waited 25 minutes by the door, standing and watching him slowly make the drinks. He moved at a pace where it seemed he really didn't care about our order. I didn't hear any sounds of a blender or see him put in anything in cups. He just disappeared into the back a couple times. We were the only ones there and who ordered. Another man came in and was waiting for him to take his order, but he wasn't greeted nor given a chance to put his order in. Out of frustration from waiting already, I told the worker "I think this guys here to order" which is when he silently grabbed the paper and took the order. After another 10 silent minutes, the man who came in after us left with his food. This made us extremely upset because we had already waited for a long time and someone who ordered after us left already. I demanded him to give us our drinks, since we had already been waiting for about 35 minutes now. He replied by YELLING backing at us, telling us how the drinks are hard to make and he's doing the work of three people. I told him that that's not a problem on our end, and that it shouldn't take 35 minutes for 3 drinks. He kept fighting back at us, trying to justify himself and complaining of OUR ATTITUDE. I told him that it seems like he doesn't like his job that much, so he should just quit. I even asked for a refund at some point and that I'll leave without my drinks, and he said he can't do that. He needs to learn proper customer service. I have been to tsaocaa at another location, and it is the first time I have been met with this horrible customer service. This one worker had an asian accent (chinese/japanese) with long hair. He had his airpods in and really didn't care about his job. I would like you guys to take proper action against him, and fire him for his ridiculous attitude. I seriously am a fan of your drinks and was not expecting this kind of service. read more

At this point, I ask what I'm supposed to do now because they cant provide what I actually ordered, but proceeded to make the rest of my food without it. Refused a refund, can't give me what I ordered and paid for, and was generally rude about the entire thing, seeming annoyed at me for wanting to at least get something comparable to what I already paid for. I won't be returning here after this experience, there are a dozen other places nearby on campus with similar food I can go to without the attitude I got here. I ordered through Grubhub and thoroughly enjoyed my bowl. For the amount you get, it's well worth the price. The depth of the bowl is deep so you get a lot of rice. They're pretty generous with their toppings too, which I appreciate. I've been to other Poké places where they had flatter bowls and a lot more stingy with the amount of toppings they spread on. I paid roughly $11 for the bowl before tax, delivery and tip. I got 2 orders of salmon as my protein and it really satisfied my cravings. The rice and sauce was not too salty, which is great because sometimes the saltiness can be overwhelming from Poké bowls. I'll definitely be back to order again! My bowl was delicious and refreshing. Packed with flavor - and the menu is big enough that you could continue to customize and explore new options. I ordered a rice base with ahi tuna & salmon, with cabbage/pickled cucumbers/shiso/seaweed, the spicy ponzu sauce, seaweed salad and spicy wasabi crackers. Poke-Man has good boba, I'll say that, but it is not the best in the area. Additionally, their poke-bowls are overpriced and hardly satisfying. This place is a great location for a coffee chat if you want to catch up with someone, but if you are looking for a meal, this definitely is not the place to be. My previous review of Poke-Man was based off of the promotion that they have where if you check-in and you can receive a free medium sized bubble tea (no strings attached). While this is true and a dope promotion, I checked in and the cashier asked to see the review. (+) Poke bowls have a good amount of food but (-) a number of friends think that they give too much rice in their bowls Tip: for poke bowls if you're looking to fill up, you can max out on toppings that are unlimited (-) Though the poke bowls aren't bad, the low rating is heavily influenced by their bubble tea. At first, I actually liked their tea more than most of the other spots on Penn's campus - it felt authentic. But after a couple of weeks, I noticed the tea tasted extremely watery or milky, lacking an actual milk tea flavor. Others have mentioned this as well.
