Good day, I wanted to leave a quick review of big boy movers. We are currently using their services and we could not be more pleased and impressed with the hard work. Our movers were Nate and Jayden: They are very quick, respectful, dedicated, focused, courteous, and extremely pleasant. As far as rates, big boy is also very reasonable for the time we required. We even had to make a stop to our storage unit to drop a couch on our way over to our new home, and the movers were very accommodating with this last minute detour. They are making short work of a move that we thought would take several days. Thanks to Peter who was also very kind and informative. He made arranging this whole move a breeze. Thank you so much! We expected movers with experience, and they sent us boys. They didn't bring pads, tools, or knowledge on how to correctly pack a truck for the best use of space and to protect items correctly. You are essentially paying $45/hr to have young men assist you with your move. I spoke at length with the manager prior to scheduling that I needed workers to disassemble & reassemble furniture for a local move. The two young gentlemen that arrived were very nice, but arrived with no tools and no trolly or cart to move the items. I had to find a neighbor to borrow some tools and only one of the helpers could work on taking apart the furniture while the other watched. For 2 1/2 hours of billed work with two workers, I got 2 beds, a couch, an entertainment cabinet and a television brought down 3 flight of stairs. I was left to my own to move those items to the new apartment and reassemble them there. On top of all that, my front door was damaged (which the apartment charged me $75 to fix) when they transported one of those items. If you want a pair of extra hands, you probably would be better off giving local kids $25/hr to come help you out. read more

They were very nice but really didn't know what they were doing. They packed our truck and we had other folks unload at our destination out of state. The unloaders were pretty vocal about what had been done wrong. None of the blankets were secured, no plastic wrap was used (despite 3 rolls supplied), and the truck was packed horribly incorrectly. We ended up with some broken and damaged furniture that was all preventable with just a little bit of care and experience. read more

Contacted them 10 days before the move and scheduled the time at 10am on Dec 13th. Reached out the day before to see if the time could be changed at 10:30am? Kemp messaged me back and said I wasn't on the calendar and hadn't signed an agreement. I said "say what?" What agreement and what email? So glad he was so professional and didn't bother to tell me ahead of time that something was needed/missing. As other 1 star reviews on Yelp shared the same sentiment I should have read the reviews sooner. We ended up going with Smooth Moves, a couple Yelp message exchanges and got it all set up. No excuses or empty promises. Run from Big Boy Movers as quickly as possible cause they sure know how to raise your blood pressure on such a stressful event. read more

Before I begin the review, let me clarify that this is about the business, not the employees. For the record the 2 guys that saw the move through were amazing. They worked all through the afternoon and late into the evening to get my move done. 5000 stars for them. This is about the business and move planning. We scheduled a cross country move from Utah to Georgia. My wife and I moved a 4+ bedroom house worth of stuff from a storage shed in Salt Lake to our new home in Georgia. We had used Big Boys before and been very happy so we used them again. We called Big Boys and answered all their questions. I reiterated multiple times over 2-3 phone calls that we had a large 4 bedroom house with a ton of stuff and that we needed the largest truck they could get. It was a 26ft truck. On the first day, 3 guys showed up to the storage shed. If I recall correctly they set aside 4 hours to do the job. They worked hard and it took them all 4 hours. Once done they took off for Georgia. A few days later, they arrived on time snd everything was intact. Here is where issues arose. If memory serves they'd scheduled 3 hours to complete the job with just 2 guys. These two guys worked their booties off. It took them 6-7 hours. They missed their first flight back. They told me that they thought a 3rd guy was going to meet them at my house. That didn't happen. They realized pretty early on that the job was going to be rough. They called their manager and were told "tough luck, do what ya can". Myself and my neighbors helped as much as we could but it still took well over the scheduled time frame. I'm sure the guys arrived home exhausted the next day! My complaint here is about the business and scheduling. I was surprised when they showed up with just two guys. Big boy movers knew how big the move was. In my opinion, they should have worked with a local moving company to get a 3rd or even 4th guy here to help. I would've happily paid a little extra to get some more help. read more

Nice guys, horrible service. They were at my home for 6 hours and maybe packed a total of 25 boxes. I feel like I paid them $800 mainly in materials because it took my husband and I another 7 hours tonight to pack up everything they hadn't and pack up our truck, and we still have a ton more left to do. I could've gotten help from friends and it would have been better than this. Super disappointed in paying for service and then having to do more work than they did on my home. Not happy. In response to the owners response: it is not my job to know how many hours it was going to take for you to pack my house. I called you and said this is the square footage of my home, this is how much furniture I have (of course I'm going to expect you to carefully wrap my furniture, I'm moving across the country?) We were given $10k in moving costs from our company, I was happy to pay for the service had it actually been done. I think it's funny that every complaint your company gets, you follow up with how the customer is wrong. Might want to check your business model, anyone in sales knows the customer is always right and should never be told they're wrong for not being the expert in YOUR JOB. I even told you when I booked I was happy to book two days to finish the job and YOU told me I only needed on day. That is your problem, not mine. Once again people, don't use them. We had such a terrible experience, I wish we had moved ourselves instead of hiring. First, Mike flat out lied to me. The contract mentioned pianos and had me a little concerned. I spoke with Mike on the phone to clarify that his movers were properly qualified to move a piano. He assured me they had a "piano dolly" and had been trained on moving pianos. He also said specifically if anything happens to the piano it was covered under liability insurance. The movers came, did not use equipment, but instead DRAGGED the piano across the carpet ripping it all up. They had no idea what they were doing and damaged the piano while unloading to which the movers responded "oh well, we tried". They ended up leaving the piano in the middle of the hall and could not get it where we planned. I submitted a claim and was told pianos are NOT covered under liability, even though Mike told me specifically that they were. So I am now left with a damaged piano in my front entry. The movers did not know how to drive the moving truck. I don't know how, but they ended up getting the truck STUCK in our neighbors ACROSS the street front yard!! They completely destroyed their brand new lawn and sprinkling system. It took over an hour to get the truck out and finally start unloading. We paid for 4 movers. 2 of the movers worked hard unloading the truck. The other 2 were frequently on their phones and only unloaded light things like pillows and lamp shades. My husband and I were working far harder than they. After all that they tried to charge us extra time it took them for their own mistakes! Do not hire from this company - it is not worth the headache and significant property damage. read more

If you are looking for professional packers and movers then big boy movers are NOT the one. I recently used their services and regretted as they didn't know how to pack household things at all. They also didn't know how to load packed items into the truck and while moving things to truck they were getting knocked into the exit door of my house. Therefore, I'd definitely not recommend them to anyone. However, they are nice people and have good skill to help you lift and place things from one place to another not very far away. read more

Did a terrible job and damaged my house, didn't want to pay for the damage. The first set of movers they sent had no idea what they were doing. Tried to move my washer and dryer without removing them from the pedestals and were having a very hard time. I had to stop them and remove the pedestals for them. Then when moving the washer they didn't know how to lift it properly and basically started dragging it down my staircase, before finally giving up and leaving it at the top of the stairs for me. I made them send another set of movers to move the washer later in the day (which I had to pay for). Those two knew how to lift it and brought it down the stairs no problem. The first pair did hundreds of dollars of damage to the hard flooring on my stairs. I was assured the company would take care of it. Instead they tried to weasel out of paying. They ended up paying for about half of the cost of the repairs and acted like they were doing me a favor. I would not use them again. read more

Inexperienced movers are working for this company and the owner obviously doesn't care to improve it or train them properly. I was unfortunate to get two very young movers arrive TWO HOURS LATE to my move. Which REALLY effed my entire day up. It is BEYOND unprofessional to show up 2 hours late. And there is NO excuse because I was their very first job of the day. I paid this company $200 for them to bring their moving truck as well.. these "kids" showed up in the smallest rented UHaul truck. What kind of moving company doesn't have their own truck? I could have rented the same truck myself for $50. The kid driving it didn't have any experience driving trucks either. Literally couldn't park it to save his life. I had to help him TWICE to maneuver and park it. Also, these kids for some reason couldn't take direction whatsoever. I explained things to them over and over and over again and they still didn't "hear me" or "get it". I really and truly am not trying to be mean here, but these kids SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS JOB. It was SO frustrating and stressful to deal with them. And look... they were nice, but they just shouldn't be doing this job AT ALL. At least not with some real training on how to be a great mover and driver. They did apologize for being late but it's just not good enough. I will never ever ever ever use this company again after the terrible experience I had with them. I don't even blame the kids, I blame the owner. He clearly doesn't care enough about running his business properly, or training his employees the correct way and should really re-evaluate his priorities. I recently used Big Boy Movers to move from one state to another. I was quoted 2 guys and 2 hours to move a full house and oversize garage??? No one came out and looked at all that I had. I told them I needed the biggest trlr they had. I am not a moving company, so I don't know how to gage it, they do! Needless to say, it did NOT all fit and they had to get an extra trlr to pull behind and that was still not enough. In talking to the guys that did the loading, they called their boss and he said they wanted me to share in the cost of the extra trlr! So I split it because they assured me that the rest would fit. They still left stuff on my patio's which I had to take to my neighbors house to come back this spring and pick up myself! After all was said and done, and they had left the garage empty. I had left while they were waiting for the trailer to come and I trusted they would load everything that was left behind. My neighbor came to see that the garage was empty after they left. When they arrived here, they wasted no time getting the trlr empty. I went to pay the bill and not only was the extra trlr fee there, they charged me with extra time for unloading that went past the 2 hrs. So it was almost an extra $500. The reason I add this point is because there is a list of things that never made it to my home. They said it was in my shed! These things are GONE. When I asked the drivers about it, they knew nothing. I have called the UT office looking for someone in management and have yet to hear from anyone! read more

I asked them to finish a couple extras and they couldn't stay and complete the job, because one of the guys had a date. Hired 2 movers to help us load a U-haul we rented for our out-of-state move. They maximized space well however, they did not do a good job of padding or wrapping our furniture and several items were scratched up. We bought furniture pads, plastic wrap, tie downs and ratchets which we were told we needed to provide but they barely used any furniture pads and didn't even touch the plastic wrap or tie down rope. My husband even asked them to wrap the furniture items with the pads and plastic wrap but they failed to do so. They loosely draped a couple of the pads over our tv stand and my husband found the remaining pads untouched, stuffed in the back of the van when we arrived to our destination. The two guys moved without any urgency and one of the guys mainly stood by the truck the whole time. Wouldn't recommend this company. read more

I got word of this company from Nextdoor and decided to give them a call. I wish that I had taken the time to read the other Yelp reviews before hiring them... There are many people with the same service experience. So, here's mine: After I had to call to confirm they were coming, two kids (barely out of high-school) showed up in "Big Boy Movers" t-shirts but with a rented U-Haul. (Actually, only one was driving the U-Haul; the other one was driving an Audi Q5...) The one driving the Audi seemed more capable of driving the U-Haul than the one who was actually driving it. They were an hour late getting to my house and moved at a snail's pace. The rented U-Haul came with 2 furniture dollies but they were rarely used. Instead, the guys opted to move each box one by one most of the time, prolonging the speed of the move. (It also didn't help that they were checking their phone on an recurring basis.) They have a minimum of 2 hours ($335) for these two guys and the U-Haul, and for every 15 mins they go past that, you hear cha-ching! If they hadn't been so late getting to me, and had worked more diligently, I would not have been so concerned about the added time/cost. But it felt like there wasn't a sense of urgency and this was their standard M.O. Another point to note in addition to their tardiness and speed, is how inept they were at packing the truck. I'm pretty sure my mom could have done a better job than these guys (sorry, mom...). After deliberating and wasting time loading/unloading for several rounds, I finally stepped in to give direction. I also ended up having to load / unload boxes, too, which defeats the whole purpose of hiring someone to help. I can't wait to unpack everything and see what damage there is... At the end of the move, they struggled to get whom I can only assume to be the business owner on the phone so that I could pay. It was an awkward end to a overall 'meh' experience. When they couldn't reach the owner, the younger kid wanted me to just text my credit card information to him. Yeah right!... I'm still waiting on the receipt, BTW... Finally, a comment on COVID precautions: there were absolutely none! They didn't wear masks nor practice any social distancing. And when it did come time to pay, the kid wanted me to use his phone to talk to the owner. If you're looking for movers, I would suggest you go with a more professional company and leave the amateurs to someone who doesn't mind babysitting the kids. read more

First off, let me say that the movers - Brent being the main guy in charge - outstanding. Polite, hard working and thorough. Five stars for those fellas. Here's my problem: I was quoted $455 for 2 movers for 4 hours with a truck; with each additional hour to cost $70/hr. They were to be at my house at 10:00. Well, rather than 2 movers at 10:00, I got three movers (one who was on his very first move) at 9:00. I wasn't home and we weren't ready for the movers. We had stuff to finish taking down and to pack to make the move easier and to save time. Long story short, the move ended up taking 5:15. The closing balance was $786. After some complaining, the knocked off half an hour for a grand total of $736. I don't mind paying what I owe. But, in this case, I would have preferred the 2 movers that were quoted and the start time I was told. Give me two movers for 6 hours and it saves me $130 and we still get the same work done. Dudes doing the work, again, top notch. The process behind the scenes didn't really cut it for me. read more

Big Boy Movers was hired for me via Moving Staffers. The two guys who came to load my truck were very hard working and seemed to do a great job. They had my 2000 sq ft house + shed loaded within 4 hours. A few things broke (glass lamp shades which I hadn't packed carefully) but the top of my chest freezer was dented. The movers piled stuff on top of it and that resulted in four dents on the lid of the freezer. I tried to file a claim with Moving Staffers but they said, and I quote: We reviewed your service and found you had our hourly, labor only service. With this service the coverage is 60 cents a pound per damaged item while our crew is on site. This covers anything they may drop or bump in the process of loading your items. Anything that is damaged must be written on the service receipt indicating that the damaged happened by that crew at that time. Once the crew leaves the site this coverage ends and anything not noted on the service receipt is not covered. I guess I was supposed to stand there and watch everything that was being loaded and the way in which it was being loaded. Sorry but I had other "move" chores that needed to be dealt with. The reason I hired movers is so that I didn't have to worry about it. Some of my wood furniture arrived with deep gouges and scratches. The only real casualty was the freezer and Moving Staffers washed their hands clean of it. Caveat emptor. read more

Terrible experience. Not 15 minutes into moving, the guys dropped my gun safe off the ramp leading up to moving truck. The safe obviously took a beating on the outside and some minor things in the safe broke as well. The guys took pictures and assured me that the office would be calling to set things straight. After several days we called them. We waited several more days and called again. They have never gotten back to me despite telling me they would and two phone calls. I hired people to help me move because I didn't have time to fool with stuff like this. I could have gotten better help from the Elders' Quorum. I will never use them again and would advise against using them if you have anything of relative value. read more

We hired Big Boy Movers to move our business / personal residence for a local move. We needed most everything placed in Storage. The movers paid no attention to what went where. They did not maximize the space in the multiple storage units (causing us to need extra units). But the most egregious thing was the absolute disregard to the way our furniture was stacked! Large items on top of smaller fragile items etc. It seriously looked like someone was trying to show an example of how bad a job someone could do!! On top of that, they damaged the outside of an adjoining business's sign and almost damaged the roof of another bldg. by backing into it. They would have hit it if my daughter hadn't yelled for them to STOP! Then, they asked for a tip!‍ If you care about your things...Do not hire these movers. read more

I hired Big Boy Movers after working with them on several moves where friends hired them. Those times the Big Boys were BIG and they moved fast. Imagine my surprise when I hired them myself and found they sent me what looked like high school kids. One was a rookie and the other had been doing it for a year. Both very nice people but not Big and not fast. My problem was I estimated the moving time based on my past experience with Big Boys Movers. We got my stuff moved but the movers had to leave for another job. They just left the fridge and washer and dresser in the garage. They did not complete the move. I'll have to hire someone else to complete the move that Big Boys could not finish. Again, the young men were very nice and personable. They just were not big and they didn't move as fast as other Big Boys that I have worked with. Be careful when you estimate how much time it will take. Unless I get a little help from them I'll not be able to recommend Big Boy Movers. read more

terrible service. big boy movers sent test us two movers. one was so lazy and slow. and trust me, these were not big boys. they struggled lifting a mattress. the last one took a 15-minute poo break in our bathroom. thankfully it was our old house. they didn't get the job done! they don't know how to stock a truck! and we ended up having to unload the rest of the boxes ourselves. Even though we hired them for 3-hours. They still couldn't finish a two-bedroom two bath apartment. lesson learned. don't recommend. By the way, no masks were worn. Thanks for nothing. read more

Two young men arrived on time, worked hard, were careful, not big strong monster guys, but did what they could and worked well. We have some big heavy furniture pieces that were all they could handle, and almost too much, but we got it done! They didn't bring dollies or straps, or hand trucks, but we had all that. When they called office for more help, we were out of luck, but again, somehow we got it done, loaded the pack rat shipping and storage container fully. read more

The Spokane/Coeur d'Alene is horrible. They use teenagers who would rather talk about video games and their latest sexual conquests than to actually work. They showed up late and left early, and not to mention took breaks on a 3 hour job. They did not even finish they job they started and left my moving truck with only 3/4 of it full. They were the absolute laziest crew that could have showed up. And, to top it off the owners of this company support this behavior even though they fired at least one of the crew members afterward. The crew worked half the time, so I should only have had to pay for half. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE GUYS. This is not a professional moving company. read more

I have used big boy movers twice over the last few years and highly recommend this. Both times they were efficient, friendly, reasonably priced and reliable. They are perfect for 'do it your self' moves where you just need some extra hands (and younger able bodies to do the heavy lifting). Their two hour minimum is reasonable even for small jobs that will take much less than that. read more

We hired this company based upon reviews and the option given to hired their movers to just load our Uhaul truck, which we did. That was a mistake! After giving them a full inventory list they recommended 3 movers for 3 hours. Seemed reasonable given our experience with other movers. Their 3 movers didn't seem to know what they were doing. They moved slow, dropped F*bombs non stop in my house and were not done after 5 hours (which meant a higher cost) .My walls were banged up and needed to be repaired. The truck was very poorly loaded with huge voids in it. Several items were broken costing me thousands. When I called and spoke to Jordan, he just kept asking what I wanted him to do about it. I asked him to send me some movers that knew what they were doing, but stating that it was already 4:30 in the afternoon, he couldn't. He claims he's submitted a refund back of $150 for the damage to the wall and the thousands of dollars of broken items. I asked for their insurance info to file a claim, they never gave it to me. Avoid these guys in Utah. Their Idaho counterparts are awesome and I would highly recommend, just not the Utah office. read more

This was by far the worst experience ever with a business. Big Boy movers was supposed to be at my home at noon they showed up at 6 at night I had no choice but to use them because I had to move that day I had the reservation and place in 3 weeks in advance. It wasn't one piece of furniture that didn't have some kind of Mark on it from the move two pieces of furniture with actually broken. I had temporarily rented a residence cuz I sold my home everything in there was moved by another company which took only 3 hours this move with them took 7 hours that I was billed for the company was unmoving on adjusting my bill reimbursing me for broken Furniture was horrible customer service actually nasty to deal with I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone read more
