Evan is an excellent craftsman at the Piano. I'm sure my piano hadn't been tuned/repaired in 30+…read moreyears, and he did a fantastic job. He even came back twice more to install and adjust a new string for me. One visit was months later, once the string had stretched a bit. He was happy to come back and retune it for me. Communication: Evan's work is closer to art than prescribed work. Some jobs take longer than others, and Evan gave excellent notices (via text or call) for changes in schedule, etc. Skill: My piano had a broken string, a broken leg, sticking keys, and 1/2" of dust under the keyboard. Evan didn't flinch, and tackled each problem with confidence. Attention: He noticed the other instruments in the room, and he talked to me about how his tuning would bring my piano to true A440, making my other tuned instruments jive with the piano. I'm glad he understands the "why" of tuning as well as the "how". Thanks, Evan. I'll keep passing your name to friends/family.

We could not be happier with their service in moving our grand piano. It needed to be moved out of…read morethe way so our carpet could be replaced: move the piano to an adjacent room, after install carpet, replace piano. I called several moving companies to ask for bids, and got very high quotes without feeling that they knew what the task required. Eventually, a light went on in my head telling me to deal with a piano company, or at least ask its recommendation. I called Barrus to discuss the project. They asked the manufacturer and model of the piano, and whether any steps were involved. (Yes, two.) It was clear that they knew the exact weight of the piano without looking it up. I told them when the carpet was scheduled to be installed and we scheduled the piano move the day before. They arrived exactly on time and took about 15 minutes to put the piano on a piano board, remove the legs and pedals, wrap the piano in a padded quilt that was purpose-made for this size of grand piano, and move it into the adjoining room. The carpet installer came as scheduled. (I mention this because this doesn't always happen.) And the Barrus crew returned the next day (a SATURDAY, for crying out loud) to replace the piano. Did an excellent job. If you need to move a heavy piano, don't call your strongest friends to come help you. Call Barrus.

He did not make us feel pressured at all to buy a piano. He even suggested that we shop around at other dealers to see if we could get a better price and then come back to him to see if he could beat it. We worked with other salesmen at other stores and it was a totally different experience. I almost felt bad because Mike put a ton of work into helping us find the perfect piano, and was willing to give us such a good deal that his commission was practically nothing. Very honest, very helpful. He really had a gift for helping my wife (who is pretty indecisive) find the perfect piano for her, which turned out to be a lot less expensive than I was fearing going into the whole process.

He thought he wanted to play the trumpet and when we went in, Matthew was very helpful! Matthew sat down with us and brought out the trumpet, a French horn and a trombone. My son ended up leaving with a trombone and I think it's a great fit for him after Matthew explained the different instruments. He was even complimentary of my son's range and I think that has made a positive impact on my son's enthusiasm to try the trombone.
