We ate the other night at the Blue Spruce in Packwood and it was MUCH better. Service here was good, but I ordered a cocktail and it had virtually no alcohol in it and tasted super watered down and was mostly ice. It was supposed to have puréed fruit in it but there was none to be seen. 100% not worth $15. The nachos were fairly unappetizing with just a little bit of toppings. The fish & chips and Rueben were good, as were the fries. They overcharged me. Overall would not recommend. Maybe a good place to grab beer with your buddies. read more

New owners have cleaned this place up and it doesn't smell like a clogged toilet anymore! They really stepped up their execution of the food menu, the burgers are pretty great! We hit prime rib Friday a couple months ago and it was awesome! Highly recommend! Live music has been great as well! read more

We wanted to love this place because we are fans of dimly lit dives with great food, so walking in we were hopeful based on atmosphere until we noticed the abundance of AI slop posters a Trump sign, both are disappointing. The food was fine, not great but decent and priced average. The fryers were down so our options were limited. I had a salad, the veggies were fresh and crisp, the dressing was good, the chicken was fine but under seasoned and a bit dry. I'd give the salad a 7/10. My husband had clam chowder, he enjoyed it and also gave it a 7/10. And our son had the big bottom burger, nice big beef patty but a little over done so it was also a bit dry, he gives it a 6/10. Where this place shined was service, we had an excellent waitress. I think without the great waitress I would've given this place 2 stars but I just couldn't score that low when we had fantastic service. read more

We drive by Big Bottom all the time and decided to stop in for lunch. The place is like walking into 1982, so nostalgic! It is very clean, loved all the vintage signs and pictures. The prices are great, menu is mainly bar food, lots of good beer on tap, TVs for sports fans. The bartender was very nice, took our order quickly then proceeded to make the food. We got two burgers, one with fries and the other with onion rings. Hands down one of the best burgers I've had in a long time! You could tell it was made with fresh ground, super thick, toppings all fresh as well. The fries were great, not the frozen ones, and the onion rings were a real treat. We just moved to Randle. It was a few weeks until all our things were here, so we've been to Roxy's many times for a hot meal. Every experience has been such a treat. We've tried the grilled cheese, a steak once, salads, tacos, and some bar food. Nothing disappointed. It's not fancy but good food and a good value, served with smiles and conversation. We've even tried a few specialty cocktails and been quite pleased. And the ambiance is always fun: lots of locals mixed with travelers and hikers. Tots were really good and fresh out of the fryer. The burger patty doesn't seem like it's "hand pressed" and but does give you a lot of meat for your buck. Bathroom was disgusting. Very friendly service. Fry sauce was free so that's a nice touch. read more

Well, just being honest. First when you tell the waiter 3 times, no pickles, no mayo. And they still can't get it right. The friend orders burger no tomatoes, cause he's allergic, and they couldn't get either order correct. Then there new fries suck, crunchy sh*t. They had the best fresh cut fries with old owner. Then your waiter guy wants to get all pissy with me. You are really screwed in the head, if your kitchen staff can't read your writing or can't read. Your all pretty screwed. Then your rude *ss bartender cashier lady has a very negative problem too. Very screwy place now. And the burger has a very nasty smell too it. Also your cooks not washing hands, multiple cross contamination, no gloves too. I could see everything. I know it's the mountains, but lots of flies inside. Lots. Last few words to owner, 20 years buying food here over the 2 busy weekends of the year, and this was the worst experience ever at big bottom, so be proud new owner. Yummy small town bar & grill. We love the bacon cheeseburger, blt, and chicken strips, but our family favorite is the fries. They remind me of Dicks fries but way better. If you like crisp fries, these are not for you. More for me! Some may prefer bubbly personalities, here you will find hard working women serving great food,....sometimes with a welcome side of sarcasm. I wouldn't have it any other way. If you are expecting delicacies and fancy etiquette this may not be place for you however I recommend giving it a try when in Randle! read more

A group (9) stopped in here for lunch and to re-group after learning the road to our selected hike had been washed out. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Tabs were easily split. 21+ only. Indoors is dimly lit and spacious. Several hunting trophies are mounted on the walls as well as a couple TVs. One pool table is available for those interested in playing pool. A nice dive bar. During our visit, the patrons we witnessed were the outdoorsy types: hunters and hikers. Thirsty, hungry, cold, wet, exhausted and satisfied. Big Bottom offers a full bar with a nice selection of draft beer. Food is standard bar food. During our visit, there was only one person on staff so we were told up-front that our food orders would take a bit of time to prepare. Since we were researching local hikes that were accessible this wasn't a big deal to us. We did appreciate the consideration of the heads-up though. My wife ordered an Irish Death and I ordered a Lucille IPA for $5 each. We shared the Turkey Sandwich for $8.95: white bread, turkey, pepper Jack cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion and mayonnaise. We chose the tater tots as our side. Our sandwich was tasty and hit the spot without over-stuffing either one of us. The tater tots were crisp and hot. Staff members were blunt and to the point which I respect, but some may find offensive. Big Bottom staff members are not interested in dealing with high maintenance patrons (neither am I for that matter). Overall, the next time that I'm in Randle, I will be stopping by Big Bottoms for a slurp and bite to eat. read more

Well we've been coming here for a few years while camping in the area. The food in the past has been very good for a little bar. If you read from the business it states they have the best steaks in town and offers a full menu till 10pm. You better hope it's not a holiday our weekend and they don't want to have to work to hard. We went in on Saturday night and was given a menu with 4 burger choices and a couple other items. I asked if we could see dinner menu, sorry it's to busy on Labor Day weekend. It's after 5 in the afternoon and there's two people at the bar and our table. Not wanting to get a hamburger, I figured I'd have a side of fries. Big mistake, they do there own fries, not sure who was cooking them but they were soggy and dripping with grease and $7.99. Wow it wouldn't have been bad if they at least cooked them properly like they used to do. I talked to another camper in the park when we got back and they wondered if it changed ownership, they thought it also wasn't going to be a repeat place for them in the future. So after my fries today I decided instead of the Big Bottom Bar I'll call it the Soggy Bottom. As a side note there was a lot of flies around and just as the waitress was coming to the table we managed to kill one on the table. She saw the it on the table and said she'd bring a napkin for us to wipe it up. Well she forgot about it and never came back with a napkin or rag to wipe the table. Wandered in after coming over the pass and my first impression was good; the waitstaff was pretty damn funny in a laid-back, smartass townie kind of way. One of a the women sent a few zingers our way--hell yeah, I'm in. We sat at the bar and I was pretty impressed with the place; clean, bright, with obligatory animal heads adorning the walls; possibly not the place to take your vegan PETA friend, but just fine for anyone else (and there's pool!). The beer selection was pretty good, and made slightly better by the hilarious move by our bartender of tasting one of the beers when she forgot which one was the double porter and which one was the Irish Death. You can't get that kind of amusement at a chain. Food...well, it's was...ok. We all got burgers and fries. I ordered batter mushrooms which were pretty good. The fries...meh. Nothing great there, and the burgers were about the same; very bland, kind of unsatisfying, and certainly nothing to write home about. It's a shame since everything else there was pretty good. I'd stop in again in a pinch, but I probably wouldn't be getting burgers this time. Definitely a place to drink though. read more

After a long Saturday drive around Mt St Helen's, our lunch stop here was just what we were looking for. Good, cold beer (and a very respectable tap list of microbrews), fresh and flavorful burgers, and a laid-back but not-too-divey vibe. The locals were friendly and the big woodstove added a lot of warmth & character. The TVs had college football, and the whole place was sparkling clean. In fact, it was one of the cleanest bars I've ever set foot in. Cheers to this friendly little tavern. We wouldn't hesitate to stop in again when out exploring the area. read more

Overpriced despite the large amount of traffic that would make you think that they had adjusted the prices due to good business. Despite the high traffic the food leaves something to be desired. Took the family there for my Daughter's 12th birthday. Ordered two steaks, one for the Daughter and one for the Wife. I got seafood and my Son got a Ruben sandwich. The bill was close to $80.00. The steaks were dry despite ordering them rare and the seafood was as well. That said, we will catch dinner elsewhere from now on. At night though the bar is chock full and provides the wonderful element of staggering drunks providing large volumes of vomit everywhere along with the nightly serenade of drunks screwing in the creek bottom near the place. Visited twice over the holiday weekend. We stopped Thursday afternoon for lunch and drinks. Great atmosphere inside, we were given menus and when we tried to order everything was not available, told that steaks hadn't been marinated, out of gizzards,no pork. Finally we were able to find a salad( that was available) and steamer clams. Seemed ridiculous that the waitress didn't tell us when she gave us the menus that almost everything was unavailable. She did later explain that some things would be delivered the next day. Salad was good, most of the clams were not opened. We decided to try again on the weekend and hopefully try the things we had originally wanted . Went about 6:30 in the evening. Same menu, tried to order marinated flank steak. This time order was taken, then about 10 minutes later were told that the steaks had not been marinated, and were unavailable . My husband was very unhappy, and ordered broasted chicken. The waitress did warn that it involved a pressure cooker and would take 25 minutes. We said fine. After 40 min the cook told us it would be another 10 min. After an hour we got the broasted chicken, and my gizzards. The 1/2 broasted chicken was fried past recognition and was dried, chewy, stringy chicken jerky, fries were cold, my baked potato was undercooked. We felt that the food was horrible, kitchen staff was unorganized, and that any unavailability should be stated when handed the menu, not when you try to order. We wont be back. read more

In town, so stopped for lunch on Friday. Great place, clean but with expected Randall character. Lady behind bar not so much. Clearly in a mood or pissed at someone. My family has had property in the area for decades. I was passing through and I was hoping for a quick lunch and a beer and be on my way to get more yard work done. I ended up staying for over an hour and a half because of slow service. The day staff was great, kept my drink full, very attentive, fun personality. Soon as night staff came on and day staff left, went all down hill from there. It was Saturday early evening. Not busy at all. Waited 30min to get my bill, another 10min to get it processed, empty beer glass, dirty dishes in front of me for 15min, Not even a "hello, I'll be taking over your tab." I don't like to toss this around, but I've run, opened, and GM for multiple bars/restaurants. I think the staff needs a full time cook to free up time for guest service and a bit more training with timing of the guest experience specially night staff. Other than the night bartender I had a great time, and would visit again. read more
