This place is a total hidden gem! The small unassuming restaurant is tucked away in a shopping center and has been around since the 80s! I was recently in the area running some errands and decided to stop in for lunch. The space is larger than it seems from the outside as there are tables in the back as well as the front, but overall it is a pretty simple setup. There is an order counter, fridges to buy bottle drinks like soda or water, and a kitchen window where they will call out your order number when it's ready. I had been craving a cheese steak but was extra hungry so I threw in a small order of chili cheese fries as well. The cheese steak was very good although it was a little smaller than I was hoping for. The chili cheese fries on the other hand came in heaps especially considering it was only a small order. The loaded salads, crispy chicken sandwich and the pick two platter (tenders and baby shrimp) are my favs. I always do take out but they do have a few tables if you prefer to dine in. The gyro pita was AMAZING. One of the best I've ever had. The pita was lightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, and the meat was delicious. I ordered Big Apple Deli through our food delivery service at work. The crispy chicken salad with chicken tossed in Hot Honey sauce was delicious! The lettuce and other veggies were crispy and tasted really fresh. Their GOOD RANCH brought everything together. I also enjoyed the blue cheese dressing. They give you a ton of dressing with your salad, I actually had some leftover so you probably won't need to pay for the extra cup. After reading a post on Facebook about one of the best cheesesteak places in Charlotte my boyfriend and I had to give this a try. So we ended up coming for a late lunch not to many people in there but was happy that everyone was wearing a mask and was practicing social distancing. We ordered 6 wings, a cheesesteak add Mayo, and a double cheeseburger pita. The wings were fantastic meaty and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend loved his cheeseburger pita! On the other hand I was not impressed with the cheesesteak the meat lacked seasoning and I ordered it with grilled onions and there weren't any on there but they were happy to make us some so I could add them on there. Y'all about a GREAT HOT DOG, FRIES, and a DRINK for $8.00! Last week I tried Big Apple Deli for the first time in the shopping center on the corner of arrowwood and notions Ford. A place I've seen for years, never really thought about trying it. But my mom was craving a hot dog, and I sorta was too and she mentioned how great their hot dogs were. So our entire family met at this place after work with the kids for a random Thursday night dinner. Everyone ordered hotdogs and Friday except the kids. They ordered baby shrimp and fries but everything was great. The service was quick, restaurant was clean and even the cook area was clean. Usually in places like this the cleanliness isn't always that great but this wasn't the case for the Big Apple Deli. Plus their menu was very large! So many options to choose from. I have a troubling update after visiting Big Apple recently. I arrived excited to try their wings and greek food. After receiving my check, I noticed a 3.99% Credit Card fee, never mentioned anywhere in the restaurant, the ordering process, or my check preview. Upon discussing it with the staff I was told it's "Not illegal" and that they only had to show signs detailing the ambush for a month. I understand that CC fees are an annoying part of doing business. This little surprise being legal has no bearing on how upsetting it is. I don't care about a trivial amount, but when I had enough cash in my pocket to pay for my food and instead got sprung with a fee, it doesn't feel like helping a small business out - it feels like thievery. Big Apple has 3 really simple choices: 1. Stop charging a credit card fee 2. Increase their prices by ~4% amount. Offer a 4% cash discount. 3. Just put up a sign so people can make INFORMED CHOICES about which payment to use The current situation is absolutely unacceptable, and I've NEVER seen it happen at another restaurant. Next time I have a hankering for Big Apple I'm going to call and see if they have stopped stealing from customers. If they have, I'll update this review and restore my rating. If they haven't, I won't be back. read more

My dining mate and I decided to try this place for lunch. The place was packed. One orders at the counter and waits for ones number to be called to pick up ones food. The menu sign is above the counter featuring, a large variety of deli meat sandwiches, subs, salads, burgers, entrees, sides, kids menu etc. I ordered the chicken salad side plate, my dining mate ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with fries. I was notified they were out of chicken salad so I replaced it with the tuna salad. Thought this was odd since the menu features chicken salad subs, salads, plates . My dining mate enjoyed his wrap and the delicious fries which we thought were hand cut and fried. Sadly I did not enjoy my tuna. Definitely not albacore quality and not tasty at all although the plate presentation was nice and portions adequate. Prices moderate, restaurant is clean. staff friendly. Atmosphere a bit crowded . I was hoping to order soup but this deli offered none. I would probably return and try another different lunch. No comparison to the New York City delis but a good decent lunch place for the area. read more

This place was pretty good as far as delis go. It doesn't look like much from the outside- or even from the inside- but the food was really good. You will probably need to salt your food though because it seemed to be under seasoned but most places are now days. read more

Excellent, fast service for a family of 4 in town visiting...used Yelp to determine that it would be best for us as a family with diverse taste...once again in town for a tournament and stopped to see what they offered...we were pleasantly surprised at the menu and overall choices for lunch...I got the steak and cheese sub (excellent choice), my wife had the triple decker club, my daughter had the chicken pita, she LOVED it, and is the hardest to please in our family, my Baby boy had an Italian sub and he too loved it...overall good food at a great price, no complaints and we will return tomorrow. No pictures because we devoured the food before remembering to add photos once we got back to the hotel...good fries and drink selection as well. So a few people told me this place is pretty good for lunch on the go, I was in the area so why not. I ordered fried chicken and fries. At first I was really disappointed because the chicken came naked, no breading or seasoning. Management was great though, when I went back in to explain this is not what I had in mind he offered to refund, I opted to try something else so I ordered hot wings. Really, really good! Wasn't in the mood for them but they were some of the best hot wings I've had in a very long time. The sauce was perfectly flavored, (not over the top hot but definitely had some kick) chicken crispy and juicy. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because their was a major communication problem when I placed my order (could have been language barrier). But still very frustrating. Everyone their was friendly and food was fresh and tasted good, I'll definitely be back. O and just a tip, the area is not as bad as some of the reviews make it sound. We went to the deli on a Saturday afternoon with two adults and four kids. We had the flounder sandwich, bologna sandwich, kids chicken fingers, two double cheeseburgers and the Italian sub. The cheeseburgers were cooked well, the sandwiches were generous on the meat and size, the flounder sandwich was made well and super hot-which I love. The menu was extensive and all the food was good. A few odd things that took one star off: they had no bathroom- not good for kiddos. No lemons or water cups- only bottles of water for sale.
