Aug. 18, 2019 My son and I were out looking for a few specific items. We knew it was close to closing time. We had been in another store down the road with much higher prices and no friendly customer service. We decided to stop real fast in our way home and much to our surprise, we were met by two friendly employees who helped us find most of what we needed. Thank you Ryan and Jessica for all your help!! read more

What a great store! What a difference from other stores, this place is organized and clean ! The location is kind of hidden but the area is pretty nice . The manager was so helpful and kind. The selection of shoes could be better . Some items are less expensive than other sporting goods stores, but the weight's are definitely more expensive . They have parking right in-front of the store i recommend this store ! . read more

Second time visiting this Big 5 location, I didn't really come here to buy anything specifically but ended up purchasing a curl bar. They had several different styles and the manager was very helpful in the selection process. The bar I selected was well priced compared to other locations I have been to. This location was very clean and well organized compared to other Big 5 locations. read more

I had a really disappointing experience at this Big 5 store. One of the employees was extremely rude and refused to let me purchase trading cards for no valid reason. All of his coworkers were wearing name tags except him, and when I asked for his name, he refused to give it. What made the situation worse is that he treated me like I was trying to steal something. He acted as if I wasn't allowed to see what I was buying and made me feel completely disrespected. I've never been treated like that in a store before. If Big 5 values good customer service, they should address employees who behave this way. No customer deserves to be talked down to or judged when they're simply trying to make a purchase. ( As you see Justin was wearing name tag, this employee wearing Christmas isn't) read more

I go to this Big 5 all of the time. Frequently the employees are uninterested in being helpful. The young woman working today could not be bothered to stop checking her texts on her watch in order to do a quick search of what I was looking for. This is the 3rd such encounter w/ the apathetic employee for my family, thus the review today. It takes 30 seconds to be courteous and helpful. read more

Terrible service. Brought my daughter here to get some soccer cleats. 3 people upfront BSing not one can come help with sizes.

Me and my husband checked the hours of the store it's a week day which means 9pm. And we showed up at 8:30pm and the gates were completely closed and locked up. And we could not see anyone as if they had just closed. Even though they're supposed to be open until 9pm read more

Terrible store and online ordering system. Buy from amazon. Much better experience and easier to return items.

Big 5 has been my go to place for decently priced sporting goods. My Dad liked the discounted shoe specials. Many other sporting goods stores have gone out of business while Big 5 continues to survive. We buy gear fit my son for his baseball and basketball teams. I get some fishing tackle. The store is conveniently located and the sales people are friendly, they are probably locals. There are always good craps to be found read more

As a teacher I find a store to be very reliable, and reasonable with pricing. I asked students to visit and check the local paper to plan for our December outdoor science school. You will find all the needed essentials and great deals. I enjoy purchasing hiking boots running shoes sandals as well as exercise equipment. read more

We came in for cleats for my son and I got a say we got excellent customer service from a young man name Niko, as a customer I always appreciate great customer service and especially when a young person goes above and beyond, Bradley also was very helpful. Big 5 is my go to place for athletic attire, tennis / running shoes, tennis racquets and balls. The sales people are friendly and they answer my questions precisely. One constructive feedback is to stock more tennis balls. Several times I went there to buy tennis balls but they were out of stock. read more

I like Big 5 and have gone there for decades (various stores). I'm writing because of the manager on duty. I came in Saturday night (02/02/19 around 8ish) and Lauren (I'm pretty certain I read her name badge correctly; blonde hair/early 30's) was at the register just on the phone talking away. No greeting, and just talking to a friend very nonchalantly asking what they were doing later that night and tomorrow for the Super Bowl. I was a little irked cause I mean "where's the customer service?" I was really disappointed when I had to move a bunch of items in the front window display to look at a clearance Rams canopy while she sat there and watched as I removed the WHOLE canopy to verify it didn't say St. Louis Rams. No asking if I needed help or if she may be of assistance... just chatted away on the phone smiling and giggling. I eventually gave up and got a canopy from the main row of the store as well as some other items. Got to the front where a line of 4 customers deep were standing, and she decided to leave her cashier to go sit in the office. I even told the cashier I felt for him and understood it wasn't his fault that the manager decided he needed to fend for himself. (She wasn't getting change, I had asked the cashier in hopes that may be the cause). Hopefully Big 5 looks into this and order some retraining. read more

Matt and Mckenna helped me find the exact item I needed and they even helped me find it inside the store when I arrived. I'll be coming back to this Big Five because of the service I received tonight. read more

Came here in search of a competitive swimsuit for my daughter. The had a larger selection than the other sports store we went to and they were on sale. The only downfall is that there is only one dressing room. We had to wait a very long time for the lady who was trying on like 50 items!! read more

I called to see if they had swimming caps in stock, the girl I spoke with was very sweet. She went to grab a few, told me the price range and answered all my questions. I'm not quite sure why they have such a low rating. The customer service was great in person too. read more

Horrible customer service at this store!! I showed the posted coupon. And I was accused of showing "fake" coupons. They show NO respects for customers. I will not go back to this store and encourage ppl to shop at other stores! read more

I was looking for 20 gauge shotgun shells and used Big 5 website feature of checking store inventory. One of the stores showed out of stock which I knew was accurate since I had just been there. Another store showed stock so I went there and purchased last box. The Yorba Linda store showed in stock so I drove there (7 miles from my house) only to find there was no stock. I mentioned the website info to employee and he, in not a friendly way, said "well I guess the website is wrong isn't it?". He then said they were out of stock for the last 2 weeks. He didn't apologize for the error, volunteer to report to management, nothing. Just for kicks, I checked the store where I bought the last box and it now showed no stock. Funny how information for the other two stores was correct but this one wasn't. Anyway, I was more ticked at his flip attitude and lack of customer service. Certainly don't believe the in store availability on the website and no reason to go to this store if you expect any sort of courteous assistance. read more

I had an issue with adjusting a jump rope that I bought here. It seemed impossible (everyone online seemed frustrated about the topic too) - I brought it in and they worked for several minutes trying to fix the issue. It wasn't working out and they gladly let me exchange my produce for another brand. It was very kind of them to put so much effort in and then to be kind enough to exchange. Very grateful! read more

Consider this one my go to store for anything sports related. Great prices, easy to find and great service.

Yes. Always a decent place in Yorba Linda to pick up that last minute item like a new net and ping pong paddles.

My Husband and I, with my boys ages 7 and 9, went to shop today and am very disappointed with the Manager and the female clerk. When asked if I could use the 20% coupon more than once, she replied "I would double check if I were you." Not very helpful. They did allow us to use the coupon for all our purchases which totalled over $400, but not before being lectured by the Manager that if our transaction caused delay and a line formed, we would not. What the?? I did not appreciate being talked to in this manner in front of my boys. I teach my boys to treat people with respect and to be fair. To add insult, the female clerk told my Husband to get another pair of baseball gloves because it was missing a manufacturer's tag and the price. I told her we had already looked and it was the last pair. Not sure why my Husband went to look, I'm thinking he wanted to be out of the store as quickly as possible. The manager got on the phone and checked another store. I should actually call another store tomorrow (they are closed right now). The female clerk can act friendly, as during the time she waited for the manager's call, she checked out 3 other customers and I got to observe her make small talks with the customers, make compliments about their children and even say, "Thank you. Have a good one." We didn't hear this from her when we left the store. I should point out that the young gentleman in the back assisting customers with the shoes was helpful. I plan on contacting their corporate office. I held back because my kids were with me. This store needs a new manager and a new clerk. I would not be surprised if they were related. I cannot understand how the Manager became a Manager because he certainly does not know how to treat a customer and manage his employee. After writing this review, I found out that there is a class action lawsuit against Big 5 for their error in gathering personal data. here is the link http://www.classactionsnews.com/settlements/big-5-sporting-goods-personal-information-collection-class-action-settlement read more

Convenient and fairly priced. Staff is helpful when asked for help. ALways friendly. Store, though small, seems to always have what I am looking to buy. They are moving to the Blockbuster suite this year and I'll continue buying from them. read more

So happy with the fantastic customer service I received from Edgar, the manager at Big 5, Yorba Linda!!! I purchased a pair of Tennis/Court shoes for my daughter that developed a few small tears rather soon. I was expecting to deal with Adidas directly, but Edgar told me that wouldn't be necessary and was only too happy to exchange them for me. It's nice to know that great customer service is alive and well, and that my business is appreciated at Big 5, Yorba Linda! read more
