I also liked the music--it was playing softly in the background and created a pleasant atmosphere. My biggest issue was with the pricing. Some sale and clearance items weren't clearly marked, so I had to check the website for pricing on several products. There were also a couple of items where the in-store pricing didn't seem to match what I found online, which was a little frustrating. I also think some of the prices, particularly for kids' clothing, are on the high side. Spending around $40 for a T-shirt for a child seems excessive to me, especially when kids can be pretty hard on their clothes. That said, I understand that you're often paying for a name brand and the selection is generally good. There are some reasonably priced items, such as jump ropes, and the store does have a good variety of sporting goods. I just don't think it would be my first choice for everyday clothing or items where price is a major consideration. Overall, it's a clean and well-maintained store with a good selection, but I'd recommend comparing prices and looking for sales before buying. For me, it's about a 3 1/2-star experience.

Unfortunately, the customer service is the least of their concern. They act as if you're interrupting their day and they don't seem the least bit interested in helping anyone. While waiting for all my paperwork to be processed, I watched a couple of other customers walk in inquire about some gun parts. The obese fat guy behind the counter labored to get up and ask the customers again what they were looking for. Clearly the customers didn't know exactly and needed some guidance, but he didn't seem interested in helping them out or even educating them, so the customers walked out. Then the fat guy makes a snide comment about the potential customers and sits back down to look at his computer. This is the third time I've visited this store and the less than inviting atmosphere is the only thing consistent. Additionally, my son makes custom supressor sleeves and I asked him if he'd talked with the owner about potentially selling his product their since they don't seem to have any in the store. My son said he wouldn't bother because every time he visits their store, nobody says hello or even acknowledges him to ask if they can help him find anything. He said he's tried to strike up a conversation, but they seemed more annoyed that anyone is even in the store. I'm not sure how these guys make their money, but it's sad that I'm going to have to drive 30 minutes out of my way to use another FFL because of the bad experience.

I came here a few days ago looking for vertical ascend gear out of caves. I was greeted by Jason and he was really helpful and knowledgeable. I needed very specific gear, and Jason was very patient with me and showed me where I could find sit harnesses, chest harness, chest ascender, hand ascende, foot loops, etc. I didn't find exactly what I needed but got a good idea on the things I need to build a personalized vertical gear set for myself. And of course, while I was looking for cave gear, I wandered around looking at all the fabulous gear they have, I was like a kid in a candy store. I could spend hours in here. I started looking at hydration packs as I need to replace mine and found a very nice military edition and will come back to purchase this soon. I also saw plenty of Petzl bags, and very tempted to purchase another. They also carry so much Petzl gear, you will be in heaven here. Also, some great hiking shoes and some sleek, but we'll performing water shoes. I then wandered into kayaks and Jason even showed me the Padillac they have! I've gotten into paddleboarding and kayaking for the summer and now want one of each! This place rents them and sells them. I then went to check out some wetsuit gear, and they have a really nice selection of wetsuits, gloves, booties, etc. I really love this place and it is definitely gonna bankrupt me, but so worth it. High quality gear, more extensive selection than REI and the staff here know what they are talking about. If you need something specialized, this is the place for you. I'll be back here soon!

Adj: Very fun sporting goods and more store!…read more We love coming to different Bass Pro Shops. They're all kind of different, and yet similar. They're all huge, just that some are even bigger than the average. This one in Mesa, AZ is one of the biggest, we were told by staff. We came while on a trip out to Phoenix area, and we were staying nearby. It was a warm, or rather sizzling hot September day. There's not really a fall in AZ is there? Winter would be fall to most in temps. Anyhow, coming into this store was perfect for getting out of the heat. We wandered immediately over to the huge aquarium. A very attractive feature that my kids just love to gravitate towards no matter how old they are. After looking at the fishes for awhile, we wandered up to the 2nd floor and looked at all the camping gears, not so much b/c we're the camping type, but b/c the products are fun to check out and we discovered some innovations in camping chairs, they have come a LONG way, so comfortable that some of them feel like couches now, or like a reclining chair, almost like a la-z-boy in your family room. After checking out the camping section, we looked at the "stuffed" animals, aka taxidermy wildlife. They are always menacing and "scary" to me. What can I say, I get squeamish around wild animals alive or dead, but of course better if they're already taken care of so I don't have to run for my life. In any case, we also checked out their archery dept which is so cool b/c you can shoot arrow and test out their bows here at their indoor range (smaller, but sufficient) before buying and get practice in with your own bow, iirc. Finally, we just walked around all over, including much of the 1st floor to check out their water sports and apparel depts, all filled with goodies and fun stuff galore. If only money is no object huh? lol. Customer service was friendly and let us browse and explore as we liked, but were there for any questions or directions.

Huge BPS store! This one is in Mesa. We were staying pretty close by, could've technically walked…read moreover had it not been so hot. Spent a couple of hours one afternoon. We love visiting BPS's, it's like going into the wilderness without the prep and mosquito bites. We're only semi-outdoors people of the paved or at least graveled/dirt-road variety, and not too much rugged terrain please for my getting-old bones. Pros: - It's for pros, hence the name, lots of specialty brands. - I feel like I'm a pro when I come here, only need to trick me. - My kids get such a kick out of this place, it's got all the cool gadgets to make camping and other outdoors adventures high-tech and fun - So many taxidermy animals, my wife hates seeing them and get squeamish, but the kids and I find them fun to look at. I personally think they're cool. Too bad I can't bring one home. - Some things on sale are pretty reasonably priced. - Huge place to walk around in, get your exercise done indoors in perfectly temp-controlled environment. - Clean bathrooms and the whole place is kept up nicely. Cons: - Some items are definitely full-retail prices - mostly hiking shoes, water sandals, didn't see much if any discounts for those. - Other items seem even higher than retail at other stores - grills, camping equipment, some knives (although I don't know prices for those as much). All in all, a great place to visit, stick to sale stuff and you can find some decent to good deal for your next outdoors adventure. Service from staff is good if you need help, just ask, otherwise, it's more a hands-off, self-serve, wander-as-you-like type of place which I prefer anyway.
