They stopped caring at this store some time ago and it's apparent. Entered right after the store opened. Wanted to buy shoes. The shoes on display were all over the place. The whole department was in disarray when the store opened. Most of the shoes are in the back. The cashier kept paging some sales person who never showed up to assist us We gave up and left... finally. read more

Lazy staff, manager asked one of the crew members to help me with wrestling shoes. My son has a wide foot so 9.5 was going to fit better. The crew member that helped me left and went to hang out back. Came to the cash register and asked someone else and he says.... " oh that's all we have we wouldn't ha e it in any shoe size that comes in 1/2.... without even checking he tells me no. .... maybe cuz it's 30 mins b4 they close... I am in search of a shotgun for home protection walked into the store two employees were standing at the gun case watched me walk up and both of them walked away... Why? Because I'm female? They can get pricey but Big 5 does have the best deals on shoes and kids clothes. You can get good close out bargains here. The staff are very friendly and always happy to I help by looking for the right shoe size in the back of the store. Store as well put together and organized. The greatest sporting goods store around. This is one of the last standing sporting goods we have in California. You're able to get some tennis shoes snow boots sports clothes sports equipment. They always have wonderful sales and they have a clearance section. I stopped in yesterday and fell in love with a beach cruiser at a ridiculously low cost for the brand. I came back to purchase it today and it was ten minutes before closing. No one rushed me, but offered another color for the cruiser. I instantly feel in love with another beach seafoam bike, it was a little more than the other, but it was overall a better cruiser and walked away with a beauty!! read more

Horrible customer service! People are so incompetent and very unprofessional.. customer service is definitely two thumbs down! I came to buy some pool stuff and everything was all over the place. I bought some pool rings and when I went to the register apparently the manager by the name of Sean said they were not on sale which they were! but because the register was ringing a different price he could not honor the price that the Shelf read. Really!! Isn't that false advertisement? Any how his cashier by the name of Michelle was verry sarcastic and not polite at all!! As a sports enthusiast I know what is good quality and what is not, the staff at this big 5 was very helpful in helping me find what I needed. The knowledge they provide in helping you shows that they know how to take care of a customer! It impressed me how they were able to relate to the questions I had about the under armor brand from the shoes to the shirts i was able to understand the upcoming brand. I have lived in the Antelope Valley for nearly 20 years, and have visited this store all the time. At least once a month, more often in the summer and trout season. My last 3 visits have been unacceptable, the staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. I had a problem with a return not be accepted. If you are not going to return an item I bought from your store thats fine I'll live with it, However I will not tolerate being talked down to and treated rudely by the management. The entire management, including Joe and Heather, need a serious wake up call on customer service and the right way to treat your customers, I work with people and the public also, and I would never treat a customer the way they treated my family and I the last several visits. Instead of becoming frustrated, walking away and helping another customer, they could meet a common ground and talk it through with their customers, the way management should act in a business. I really did enjoy shopping at this store, and being a customer for so long, however I will not be returning to here. I guess I'll be going to sport chalet instead. read more
